Joe B All-22 from Houston playoff game
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
don’t get me wrong— I thought Allen played a fantastic first half. As soon as the 4th quarter hit though, a switch went off. He looked like he was forcing everything. 4th quarter on— he was in total hero ball mode. He was looking to bomb it or run it every time. The DiMarco throw. The bad sacks. The lateral. Multiple unnecessary scrambles. It was really bad. Not like the Allen I had seen for most of the season. -

No surprise re Allen. You could make this conclusion watching the game in real time. He reverted to hero ball. it didn’t help that Daboll refused to run Singletary a single time in OT, or even really line a RB up in the backfield. -
Here’s a better question: what do the refs do?

Duke Williams Player Comparison

I think the better comparison for Duke is Jerry Rice. -
Tom brady not retiring according to himself

Fair enough. I will be curious to see him next year with some weapons. Will be the true test. -

I saw no strong evidence of Brady’s skills declining. It’s not like he lost arm strength or mobility or suffered a bad injury. He had nobody to throw the ball to. The better comp is to Manning leaving Indy in 2013. -

but what about 2013? Manning had the best season ever for a QB as an old man Bronco. -

I don’t know why that would be great. It would basically being age beating him, not us. Let’s face it— he owned us for 20 years. Even if we win now, it’s because he becomes too old. I’d rather not face the guy, because there is also a chance he puts up a Peyton Manning-like 2013 season if surrounded by the proper talent. -

I think he is gone. They won’t be able to surround him with enough premium talent, so if he returns, it will basically be a repeat of this year (throwing to a 38-year old TE and raw rookie receivers). I think he will go to a really offensively talent-rich team and try to light it up. To me, Cleveland makes the most sense especially if they sign McDaniels. Every skill player on that team is better than every one on NE. -

I want him out of the division. I never want to see him again, let alone twice each year. -
Better news. In tonight’s portland/Toronto NBA game, Carmelo scores 28 and scored the game winner and Oshae had 12/6 in 23 minutes. really happy for both those guys, but esp Oshae!

faltered there in the second half, but at least a better effort. Gives me hope that the team is improving. They really should have won that game, if they hadn’t gone cold on O.

Bills add K/P Kaare Vedvik to the futures signings.

This is a great signing. I think they did it just to have some laughs re the Jets game. -

Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy as Head Coach

That’s a pretty awesome nickname! -
Looks like the same blindside block by Ford.

this is where I am. if there is any lingering bitterness, it’s the dumb luck fluke of Watson staying upright on that sandwich hit at the end. Because two guys sandwiched him at the same time, he was able to stay upright. It was a great play by our D and a lucky play by him, and so I am bitter about that. I’m otherwise over the missed opportunities and officiating snafus.

The thought of getting Mariota here crossed my mind too. He would be good insurance, both as a back-up, and also if JA doesn't take the next step and we need a stop-gap guy for a year. I could see a guy like him resurrecting his career, similar to what Tannehill has done.

Kirk Cousins Has Some Words After the Game
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
dang— you guys are tough. He just went out and beat the best team in the playoffs (IMO) in their place on a clutch 45-yard throw in OT. I will give him some props. -

Gotta root for this guy. Gets zero respect! -
If I had to guess, Beane probably liked John Brown better, and He wasn’t going to pay both Brown and Sanders— they are pretty similar receivers. I think where Beane went wrong was not looking for a “big” receiver to add to the speed and quickness guys we have.

Allen out-playing other playoff QBs
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to wiseman3's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven’t read through this thread, but I thought Allen played one of his worst games, at least the second half. Everything seemed forced or over-thought. Ran too much and too often. I was hoping for the calm, controlled Allen we saw on Thanksgiving.
