Come on though, the facts are awfully clear now. I think this year will make you re-evaluate your analysis. In fact, more than anything now, I want the Bills to be true to their 'everyone eats" offensive philosophy--and start making both Davis and Johnson integral parts of the running (and passing) game. This is the next step, the championship step to me. Think Allen is at his most dangerous now? Wait until the running game becomes a dominant, versatile one... But yup, we definitely disagree! Watch the Giants game from last night if you have not. They went with your conventional wisdom and would not pay their star RB, those dime a dozen rbs... Moves like that will serve to further shatter that fallacy, the CW, about the value of high level running backs.

Wow, not only does it seem you did not watch Bills' games last year, but maybe did not watch the NFL at all last year--or this year. The running games are now becoming as vital as ever, again. So clear that was happening last year, as teams realized they could run and run on the smaller defensive players teams were going with, and schemes, to counter the passing game. It seems you are sadly suckered in by cliches, the so called conventional wisdom, and don't see what is actually happening in the league. Or with the Bills. The teams with the best, most dynamic running attacks are taking over now, again. And when Buffalo began to focus on the run, they turned two seasons completely around and became the legitimate Super Bowl contenders we knew they should be. Open your eyes: San Fran, Buffalo, KC, Ravens.... So I guess I stumbled onto why you would even consider such a comically bad Cook trade--you likely despise the term 'complimentary football' too, I would guess. When McD forced Daboll's hand a few years ago, after a 6-5 start, the Bills then ran the ball the most in the NFL--and immediately became a legitimate SB contender, losing to the Chiefs in the 13 second game. Last year he fired dorsey, and, yup, the Bills ran the ball like they had not in years. And, just as I suspected, see my posts, the Bills became a dominant, SB contender over night. They went 6-1, their only loss to the Eagles, on a crazy long field goal. But you think Beane should be fired if Cook continues to shine and becomes the star he seems to becoming--and Beane signs him to another contract?!?! Despite what we have seen from the Bills when they run the ball a lot and well over the last few years, and despite what we have seen related to NFL running games last year, and even more so this year? Immensely illogical, ridiculous, and comically so. Julian, Two shockingly nonsensical football statements now in this thread. But thanks for filling in the blanks for me--to flesh out how you can possibly have come to these absurd conclusions. Very clear now.

Nope, this is the first time I saw this post. And ??? , "I mean pretty convenient to blast away after a great start for Cook" Umm, were you actually surprised that he started as well this year? Out of the country last year? He was one of the best players in the league LAST year, Julian: 6th most yards from scrimmage in the league, with 1122 rushing yards and 445 receiving yards. 1567 yards. So, yeah, pretty shocking to read the OP. It is how horrible teams operate--not winning teams. You have to admit, pretty funny that some actually said we should do this crazy thing! Can we get a 2nd for Spencer Brown next year? Rousseau? Kincaid? I think we could. Get 'er done, Beane! As soon as all of the good players come into their own, let's cut our losses, just in case...
-
One of the dumbest OPs in the almost 30 years I have been on TBL. He is just kidding, right, trolling? It reminds of some similar threads with some yahoos hoping to trade Marshawn Lynch, because we had another good (30 year old? 31 year old?) RB at the time. Made a lot of sense to me at the time--let's get rid of what is clearly our best player, not even at the prime of his career, with maybe ten good years left in him, for a draft pick--as we had a player near the end of his career at the same position? Yikes. With moves like the one the OP suggests, the Bills would always be that team we saw for a decade plus after Lynch was traded. Scary dumb, or just a joke? No in between here.
-
I think it shouldn't be massive, but super massive, the biggest cb contract in the history of the league. For a 6th round pick, at a position where we have seen this coaching staff take one so called meh player after another and turn them into high level starters. But Beane will likely sign him soon, get a lower number than would otherwise be the case, as usual. Go Beane!
-
But seems unlikely Chicago and Williams beat them at home. He looks like he needs to sit and watch and learn for a while before starting--like most qbs. Or the Bears may ruin yet another QB. And surprised the Hawks are only favored by that many points over the qb less fins--and at home. And the Eagles may be as dysfunctional this year as they were last year. We will see. Bellicheck will likely be getting a call well before the season ends by one of three NFC East teams.

Thanks a lot for the help. Set up an account on FanDuel, 'made' my bets. But it won't let me place them as is says they cannot verify my location. And all their links to download the geo ocation thing just took me back to the same page. Tried to then to do it on my phone, and surprising--same problem. Have never had that happen in all transactions+ I have done online, so off to the casino I think.

Curious what people think is the best betting site for NFL games? Interested in betting on several individual games this week and choosing 3-6 games in some parlays. When I checked sites it was hard to find info on a parlay like that, only in 'same game" parlays which I have no interest in right now. Or would I get better odds etcetera by just doing this at a local casino this morning? Seems like some good bets/lines today: Hawks -4.5 over fish, Tampa -6.5 over the Broncos, New Orleans -3 over the Eagles, and maybe Vegas -5 over the Panthers, though Dalton may give the Panthers something more today. (Like Titans over the Packers, but not with Love at QB.)

Flashback EJ manual comeback drive
Mister Defense replied to mikemac2001's topic in The Stadium Wall
I remember getting very excited in some of his later games, telling people, "Look how much better he is getting! The balls are now in the vicinity of the receivers! This means soon he may be able to get it even closer!" Nope. Homer, rose colored glasses, yup. -

I think you need to re-read my 2 posts and stop being such an attacking, reactionary person on this board, lambasting and name calling as you so often do... You are definitely not one who should claim to have all the answers, but, instead, the one with the childish insults and over the top, hyperbolic statements over and over...
-
Lol, patently wrong, eh!? You are the arbiter of these things? No way--I have read your posts over the years! McDermott is an excellent coach, but has been too defensive, not willing to take (good, calculated) chances enough as a head coach, plays it safe too much in big moments. Not necessarily in going for it on 4th downs anymore, but in general. Has played it too close to the vest. But he has learned, I believe he is cognizant of this weakness and is getting over it. Clearly so. Kind of a 'duh' statement by me, that he has been too conservative overall, and one most would agree with, even those, like me, who hope he is the Bills' head coach for years to come. Best coach and staff in the NFL in fostering the potential in players, and in coaches, and in making sure back ups are almost as ready as the starters. Now, becoming more aggressive, less concerned about losing than in winning and dominating.
-
I agree completely. He has been an excellent head coach, could likely take a team of back ups and cast offs and field a dominant defense. His one weakness is he is too cautious, too careful--too defensive. But last year, with the firing of the clearly incompetent dorsey in the middle of the season, and taking more chances in general, showed he has learned, is taking the next step to reach his and his team's potential. And on Thursday, doing the unexpected, just like you say. We saw that change in Andy Reid when he went to KC, and in Dick Vermeil in his second go round in the league, and it enabled them to take the next step. If you always do what you've always done you will always get what you always got. McDermott wants a championship--and now seems to have found the final key in his bag to open that door. Go Bengals and Titans today! Though Burrow may be on his last leg (wrist).

Week 2, Bills v. Fish - PREDICT THE SCORE!

Tyreek Hill apparently arrested this morning…
Mister Defense replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of a duh here, so not sure why there is any uproar or controversy. Hill should have complied with the officers and rolled down his window. End of story. He could have a weapon on him and has no right to just do what he wants in that situation. Other details may emerge that cause me to change my mind, but this is on Hill, not the cops. He is just an NFL player, not a former president--so the law applies to him, just like it does to all of us. -
Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes. As it indicates I can still become an NFL quarterback! I can do that, throw like that. So those saying the Dallas defense was great, and I agree, watch this video. Their defense will have to wait until next week to earn some luv. Derek Carr is a much better quarterback obviously, so an actual test for the girls. The Saints may be the better team. -
Why is Murray's statement ridiculous? When did the coach say that and was Murray there when he did so? It seems Murray is just being honest, stating how he views their offense and his roll in it. You can see that attitude in the way he plays and the offensive philosophy, with lots of parts coming together as one. Seems similar to Allen and the Bills. It is whey the Bills were so much better last year once we removed the diva. This is about getting the ball down the field, not feeding a princess.

Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
But the offense... They looked like the Bills last year at the start of many games, like they didn't know what they were doing. Unprepared for the game. It's just that the Bills had Allen. We'll see how good Dallas' defense is, but they did look different, more physical, more disciplined, but also playing looser. But it was against one of the worst offenses in the NFL. We'll see. If What do you mean? -
Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
This, 100%. Fits with the Bills and the perfect player to add to this young, inexperienced receiver corps. Reminds me of a bigger, faster Cole Beasley, so could be a final piece of the offensive puzzle. -
Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Come on, Watson was offered a huge guaranteed contract. Most thought it was a bad move by the Browns, an illogical one--he was likely not going to get many offers, and even fewer guaranteed offers, and he had been out of the game for long time. Who would not take that kind of unique offer? Beyond your opinion of why he is not successful now, what makes you think that, what details or facts are there to support your point? Have you read or heard things about his work habits and such? I say basic human nature tells us he would want to be successful, no matter the money he is earning. He looks done, but I don't think it is because he threw in the towel so he can relax and enjoy his riches. -
Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't you think being labeled as a pariah, an untouchable (pardon the pun), is significant motivation to be successful, to redeem himself? -
Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know about this line of reasoning, as the guy looks done, fried, and don't agree it is a matter of motivation, at least directly. I think his team is losing its motivation, though, and realize they cannot win with him as their leader. And this will likely means he is done very soon, before their season slips away. Dorsey too--duh. -
It is the roller coaster thing, as they won't put players out there if they are not consistent, unless they are forced to. A few bad plays by one player can destroy a good game.

Dorsey's first game as Cleveland OC
Mister Defense replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
The long stint out of the game, the controversy, and then the injuries all seem to have contributed to Watson'sprecipitous decline. And now you throw in one of the biggest obstacles to any player's success, ken dorsey, and it may be game over very soon. Despite his guaranteed money he will be the backup soon and lucky to be that. -
Cleveland's offense looks like what the Bills would have looked like under Dorsey had it not been for Josh Allen. They appeared incredibly unprepared to play the game. And there are no positive changes within the game. Stefanski may be calling the plays, but a coach like Dorsey, likely doing a lot of the leg'work' during the week, can still do serious serious damage to an offense. Because we also know that his teams do not get better, but regress, I give him until Halloween. Or he is demoted to a Gatorade boy.
