Not a bad idea, but poor Bass! Imagine being in this position, clearly wanting, and likely doing everything possible to get better. But things are still spiraling, to some degree, and then the added pressure of people calling for your head. It'd be really hard to overcome. I guess it is part of the deal for an NFL kicker.

Be careful what you wish for. We have seen a slew of really bad kickers over the years. That is not Bass. Just replacing him with a warm body is a bad idea for a team that may contend for a championship this year.

Because it is pretty clear that he is a work in progress and if Bishop is a full time starter, right out of the gate, it will put the Bills at a disadvantage, the Bills should just stand pat and let that be the case? To me, that is very nonsensical. It would be like saying the Bills are not giving Coleman a chance to develop, are giving up on him, because they signed Cooper. In the case of Coleman/Cooper, it would have been negligent to stand pat, to wait and hope beyond hope that he can develop much much more quickly than he is--and than is expected for a rookie wide-out in most cases. So if you believe that, that the Cooper trade means that, I can see why you would also believe that they should just wait, and hope beyond hope, that Bishop can immediately become the high caliber safety most hope and (still) expect him to be in the future. That is how bad teams operate, not a team like the Bills. If they want to win it this year, good teams have the mindset of making sure all vital positions are manned effectively--'right here, right now'. Bishop comes from a much different defense in college and the NFL transition is already difficult as it is. It will likely take him a year or so to become a capable every down starter, though of course we all hope that happens today instead. And I think you would agree: immediately starting is not always the best way to enhance development, and that more methodically developing a player does not mean you are "delaying his development". Right? And that sometimes just throwing a player into the fire immediately sets him back considerably.

Yes on Rapp, but Bishop likely needs more seasoning this year, should not start right away, should not be a full time starter. It would be like making Williams a full time starter at linebacker in his first year. It would likely hinder Cole's growth, or the Bills' growth.. It appears to be a pretty significant weakness, maybe as glaring as wide receiver was. If the Bills want to go for it this year, seems like that may be too big of an obstacle to overcome. If so, they need a high caliber partner for Rap soon.

Maybe not two firsts, but a one and a 2? yes siree Bobcat Jack. Make it happen. McDermott has never had a lineman like that because his teams have consistently been too good to get one in the draft. A player like that maybe is worth 2 #1s. I convinced myself! Josh would settle for a little less, can likely scrape by on 50 million a year or so...

No, no evidence of that. Just that the Cardnals are 2-4, the Bills desperately need a starting safety, and I really liked (what I thought was) his name. Wishful thinking, basically, but you never know until you try.And Beane is pretty good at getting big things done.

Wow, that is a very depressing take! Lol, as I read it again. I don't think that will happen with Bubba! He is NOT Edwards. I never understood the hype some spouted for Edwards as he was a fairly low rated safety, in the mid 50s for PFF while Poyer was in the low 80s last year. That number would indicate a back up caliber player, who could fill in when needed, as he did in KC. So, bring on Bubba..

I had already envisioned us all yelling at Bills' games, after a big hit that knocks the ball and the defender out, filling The Ralph with: "Bubba!! Bubba!!....." Budda just doesn't cut it, I just tried it out. Give it a shot, see what I mean. I don't want him anymore. Can I just delete the OP?

If the Bills think they can contend this year, Budda Baker can help with that. He'd be be an excellent starting safety for the Bills. The Cardinals are 2-4 The Bills are giving up lotsa big plays, something they are not accustomed to doing. Budda could help with that and make Rapp more effective. Cooper was a great signing, strengthening the weakest area of the team with a wideout who had 1250 receiving yards last season. Now, Budda can help turn the 2nd weakest area into a strength. if not Baker, a long shot I know, any other good safeties possibly available?

I don't believe that Diggs' thing happened, as there is no evidence of that whatsoever. And it seems very farfetched that McDermott would be able to, or want to, 'force' Beane, his boss, to do anything at all. I think they both saw what we all saw last night, and much of this year--this team can win it all this year, but there is a clear weak area--wide receivers. So, not desperate, the opposite, very hopeful; looking to the near future, and bringing in an excellent player to address a weakness. Isn't that exactly what you would want from the two leaders of your team? They went out and got the best wide receiver available, signing a tremendous player, at an extraordinary price. I think it is a great move, one we should praise, not come up with conspiracy theories to undermine. Beyond your theory, do you think this is a good move for the Bills, makes them better?

Yeah, I never understood this move, with all of his drops, inconsistency in the past, especially the guaranteed money. Upon hearing about it I immediately thought the Bills were throwing a few million dollars into the trash. wow, yikes! In the top ten, as there are quite a few on here...

One of the players I have most wanted the Bills to go after for the last two years. Improves the weakest most undeveloped part of the team immediately and in a dramatic way. And he will help the younguns come into their own this year and next. Imagine Cooper's elation right now--going from one of the worst quarterbacks in the league to one of the best, a Hall of Famer, and from a team with almost zero hope of anything positive happening this year to (now) a Super Bowl contender. The physicality shown by Buffalo on both sides of the ball in yesterday's big win did not masque the glaring need at wideout, but only confirmed it. As it made it clear that this team could be a championship team if they shore up their weakest area. One of my favorite trades this century and it will be one of the most impactful. Great move by Beane!

A great fit for the Bills. Jerry's Cowgirls could really use a player and man like Cooper right now, a productive high character guy who just does his job and is not a prima dona. Bad fit for the girls, good fit for the Bills.

Like all of the other moves forced upon the team by their head coach/GM/QB, this will also make no positive difference, and hopefully will cost the jets a slew of money in the long term. A dumpster fire is still a dumpster fire, even if you throw a tarnished gold candelabra into the flames. God bless him though; he certainly has gotten every thing he has demanded in NY. Except for a winning football team, respect, and a quality last chapter to end his career--to define him going forward. Well deserved. And the effects of his moves so far have met my expectations as to what a team run by a man like rodgers would look like. Great to see he is still calling all of the shots. Hope there are many more to come...

Yeah, most are likely concerned about Bass, as I am, but very tough words, and you offer us no alternatives at all. And don't even mention the weather. The Jets missed one kick after another--3?--in a stadium Laura Rutledge, on the field, said was extremely windy with the wind whipping around. We should not fire Bass for missing a 47 yard field goal and extra point in those conditions. In your post, not a word about the weather conditions, as if that was irrelevant.

Well, it's coming soon, obviously! And I am sure ol' jerry will be talking up all of the amazing talent on the team, championship caliber talent (that he as GM has chosen, is responsible for...) in the days and weeks ahead, to set up McCarthy's inevitable firing. But of course, everyone watching knows this team will never win much with the 'talent' he has assembled, picking players like a weak minded high school student, a few stars, eating up the salary cap, and an empty cupboard almost everywhere else. The girls will not even make the playoffs this year. The only way jerry's girls can win another Super Bowl during his lifetime is if fires himself as GM. I am wondering if he is finally starting to understand that?

Bills 34, rogers' rejects 10 They are too dysfunctional and the wheels have come off. Lots of pressure on the head case himself, several sacks, and a turnover or two. Allen has a big game, as the offense looks much better. Maybe wishful thinking on the road, but this is what I want!
