Bears release Matt Slauson -Signed w/ San Diego
JoeF replied to JM57's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a high character, hard working player. What he has faced in his life and worked hard to address is amazing. A stuttering issue, being bullied because of it....All he knows is focus, working hard and leading. I would be proud if he chose to play for the Bills. I know this sounds sappy- but his intangibles are off the charts.. I think Rex realizes after losing Freddy, Aaron Williams and Kyle in the locker room every day last year -- that you need a few guys that just lead..a lot of players seem willing to step into leadership roles -- Watkins, Taylor, Dareus, Manny Lawson all seem ready to join Aaron, Kyle and Eric Wood in that role...Slauson would add to this growing group... -
Bears release Matt Slauson -Signed w/ San Diego

He was set to earn $6 million over the next two years. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-01-06/sports/chi-bears-slauson-deal-20140106_1_matt-slauson-salary-cap-roster-bonus 2016 Base salary $2.85 million Workout bonus $100,000 Total cash $2.95 million Salary cap figure $3,367,500 (Escalators worth up to $160,000 available) 2017 Base salary $2.9 million Workout bonus $100,000 Total cash $3 million Salary cap figure $3,417,500 (Escalators worth up to $240,000 available) He got $5 million or so in guarantees with a contract in 2014. Bills probably picked up $3 million in cap space with Glenn signing long term--can pick up more with Gilmore...but they have the room to get something done with Slausen...he would fit well. -
There are folks who are a lot better at this than me-- but here are some clues $26.5 million fully guaranteed $60 million without incentives Tier one bonus $20 million (Guaranteed) Tier two bonus $5 million (Bills Option - 2017) Year One Salary $6.5 million (Guaranteed) - Cap hit is $10.5 million so about $3 million in savings Year Two Salary $8 million Cap hit is $13.25 million Year Three Salary $10 million Cap hit is $15.25 million Year four salary $5.5 million cap hit is $10.75 million Year five salary is $5 million cap hit is $10.25 million Bring the cap numbers down in year 4 and 5 to accommodate Sammy!

I think the world of Gil Brandt -- but this is a put down the pipe comment... -
Dallas Offered Us Their 2nd and 3rd for #19
JoeF replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
85 is a high 4th round pick...Dallas came with no game -- this needed to be their 2,3,4 this year and next year's 2 for the Bills 1, 6 this year or something like that....it had to be a no brainer....Jerry must think Whaley is dumb.. -
Former Bills OL coach/now UTEP Head Football Coach Sean Kugler's son....

Eric "Ted" Striker http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/eric-striker?id=2555163 Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue

Ummm 13player -- who are you? Nice call...

Paup I agree on Rudock-- but another name to watch for the Bills Jacoby Brissett --played in a pro system-- scouts have tape of him under center and doing 3, 5 and 7 step drops in game situations with good success against good competition. This is unique in today's spread formation shotgun college O's. I think Rudock or Brissett will both be there with the supplemental 4th or 5th round pick.

Its Friday afternoon, why did you have to pee on my parade... Yep--EJ was great at throwing into nets and buckets and Reed is great at moving sleds that don't fight back...but he displayed super quick reaction off the snap -- that is not "teachable".

Heard he is following the herd to Miami. She's lucky it wasn't Richie the Bison. He'd have gored her and then dragged her to the nearest Wegman's (2000 miles away)...

First off -- what a crappy year for the young man. Wish him the best. Second, he had two major knee injuries. He had trouble in college staying on the field..what made the scouts believe this wouldn't be a quick career...I guess that's what 6th round picks are for...

#Asexpected. We have an attention whore not a coach. Looking forward to next year when the Greg Roman regime begins...

This is my favorite one yet from the NFL.com board on fanspeak...traded down with Titans who offered 2nd round 2 and 2 round 12 for 1st round 19. Traded down again 2nd 12 to 2nd 17 to pick up an extra 4th from the Colts, then traded up with the Titans to 3rd round pick 1 to nab Darron Lee... 33: R2P2 ILB REGGIE RAGLAND ALABAMA 48: R2P17 DT VERNON BUTLER LOUISIANA TECH 49: R2P18 WR LAQUON TREADWELL MISSISSIPPI 64: R3P1 OLB DARRON LEE OHIO ST. 117: R4P19 DE CHARLES TAPPER OKLAHOMA 139: R4P41 QB CARDALE JONES OHIO ST. 156: R5P17 OT JOE HAEG NORTH DAKOTA ST. 218: R6P43 DT D.J. You're a good man LA and you would have been happier than the !@#$s even without the free upgrade. There was a time in my life (in my 20's and 30's) where I was the class A !@#$ about stuff like this..One day I saw someone being an ass and I realized how I looked to others, how I sounded. Self important !@#$ suddenly didn't work for me any more. I have been inconvenienced dozens of times during travel since then--its not worth treating gate agents, flight attendants, others there to serve us as sub-humans. Be the good fellow human. Shame on me for having to see myself in the mirror before I learned how to treat folks who are there to help. -

Bills enamored with Cardale Jones?
JoeF replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It means La Canfora has a stick up his ass about the Bills and that he won't shut up until the Bills win the Super Bowl....its just the way he is -- but its warranted as long as the results on the field suck. -
He's pretty stout 6'1" 256 but appears to have some cover skills. He intercepted 3 passes in 2014..including one off Brees for a pick 6...2 pick 6's. He's 30 years old -- played 3 years in the UFL and then started his NFL career over...
