Woods played 14 games with torn groin

Bills had a versatile passing game yesterday...but it took a team with Revis and Cromartie to bring it out....hopefully its a permanent part of the strategy now... -
Woods played 14 games with torn groin
JoeF replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely makes me retract some things I wrote and thought about him earlier in the year. He still has a misguided temper at times that causes stupid mistakes and penalties (think Jerry Hughes of the offense) but he has a great competitive drive and some talent. However, I still believe the Bills need better depth at the WR position...make teams pay dearly for doubling Sammy. Maybe if Clay, Harivn and Woods were truly healthy they would fill the role -- but Harvin's as durable as soft pencil lead and Woods and Clay were dinged all year...We need a ying to Sammy's yang.. -
I like Brown a lot (I like Fuller as well although the drops this year bothered me and he disappeared in some games) -- when Kizer needed a play -- it was Brown he was looking for this year. Brown reminds me of Jerricho Cotchery when he was at NC State...never grabbed a lot of headlines but found ways to get open, could beat press coverage and was a really good blocker. Brown might be a good 6 or 7 "throw away pick". Particularly if the Bills get a couple compensatory picks. I think Brown will end up having a long productive NFL career.

Boobie reiterates what some of us knew...
JoeF replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That being on the bottom of a losing team's roster is a pretty !@#$ing good gig...and to ride it out as long as they can... As usual, the fans of this team care more about the outcome than the players. How in the !@#$ do Brady and Belicheat do it? That team seems to care about the outcome.... -
Boobie reiterates what some of us knew...
JoeF replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Takes big men to break the locker room code and go to the media. Sammy, Boobie and Mario should put this energy towards addressing the real issue rather than airing dirty laundry, but from a team that has absolutely no discipline on the field and no accountability to each other, I would expect nothing more. Sammy has had about 7 drops this year -- stand up in front of the team and apologize for these -- take responsibility. Boobie's had a couple of stupid penalties on special teams-apologize for these -- use this an example of how they all can get better. This is leadership--not some rah rah **** but showing that when you hurt the team with your play it matters to you and you want to be held accountable. Sammie tried to do this in his comments -- but what he does in a private team setting will have more impact than anything he says to Tyler Dunne or Vic... The defining moment of the season...The Redskins go for a fourth and one in the second quarter from mid-field knowing full well they will draw some idiot (in this case Stefan Charles) -- offside. A team meeting is great --- individual accountability to the team for your play because you respect your teammates and the team is better. Take the motivational speeches somewhere else...apologize to each other and start building a base of trust in one another that doesn't exist today. This is about all Rex can do about the real issue..This !@#$ing Bills team never fights for that inch or each other... -
What Should the Bills Address with 3 Open Roster Spaces?
JoeF replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is just awesome. We can't say Terry and Kim are cheap....Terry and Kim were easily influenced by someone who should be working a used car lot -- as most of us, including me, were....On the positive side, I think Rex is our best path to a #1 overall pick...just make it in a year where there is a QB worth drafting with the pick. -

In my best Moneyball scout voice...He has no girlfriend. Guys who lost hot girlfriends lack confidence. This season is lost -- bring in younger guys and give them a chance to play..See what we have with Steward..but raid someone else's practice squad for a DT, DE and LB. -
Impact of Carrington in Mario's place?
JoeF replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hurt foot mysteriously happened after the White touchdown play at the end of the first half... Freelancing had no place in this D game plan...Mario thought he could beat the OT, so he let his assignment run free. Even without the TD (missed tackle by Graham) this was a big play, first down minimum. That's ME football not team football. He's lucky Rex didn't call him out directly. Contrast this to Hughes running deep and doing a hell of a job on Gronk. I love a lot of things about Mario Williams -- he sets the edge like no one else in the NFL...but I think he has been pouting a lot behind the scenes this year. -
One Year Ago Today We Saved a Bills Legend
JoeF replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frank, you made this happen. Thanks so much for taking the initiative. Tim Graham also deserves credit for a really good piece of journalism. It was tough to read about someone we all considered a warrior, a man who gave literally everything he had to us, fall upon hard times. I'd like to think any fan base would respond this way...but Bills fans are unique, passionate, giving, loyal to an extreme. Happy Thanksgiving..may we all find something else to share our time and treasure with this Thanksgiving. -
Going to Vegas over thanksgiving. Can't wait.

Failed Expectations, Rex Ryan is not a leader of men

Don't be surprised if Rex ends up with more control of the franchise at the end of the year....I don't like it but I can pretty easily envision a scenario where that happens. -

The 3/8's pole: If the season ended today...
JoeF replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, I posted this to troll...that was my sole goal. My first troll post in almost 20 years of posting. Look at the list again. Woods-Has not played up to even a marginal standard for a number 2 last year or this and he is the Jerry Hughes of the defense. The Jets game in DET last year was the only game where he has been a true difference maker in the last 2. Bills need more out of a number 2. Bradham--at least 2 critical missed tackles and from my game watch -- out of position a lot. FA who will not get a decent contract offer from the Bills Glenn-FA who will not get an acceptable contract offer from the Bills Robey-most picked on CB we have when he is on the field. His playing time diminishes greatly when Leodis comes back and his recent extension is not a deterrent. Henderson-do we know how close he was to being cut when he came in out of shape and missed the first day of mini-camp? This is the one I admittedly am least sure about -- but the last two games he has had at least 5 ole blocks. The kid seems like he lost the intensity that made him a find last year. Thinks he's "arrived" after one year. Manuel - Rex was being kind when he said the kid missed a couple of reads last week. He missed a lot of reads -- still a recognition problem. There are better QB's out there. Duke Williams - Not a smart safety -- which is the key to Rex's defense Aaron Williams - this is the 3rd year in a row he has a neck issue -- at some point in time he has to ask himself if he wants a life after football Baccari Rambo - Good at centerfield but not in match up coverage. He does a fair amount of match up in this D and can't hack it. Kyle Williams - I know a lot of folks love him--I do to ...but another season, another knee injury -- I think its the third year in a row. He may just hang it up. Also, while his snap count has stayed high this year 346/402 total defensive snaps -- there were three series last game pre-injury where he sat...a pretty significant reduction in snaps. Mario-The cap hit may be large -- but you can spread it over two years...and this D simply doesn't use him. Him being present keeps Rex from implementing what he knows. Bash away...but here's some reasoning for each guy on the list. Pegula's are committed to Rex. Rex is the only element of this that has their stamp. Rex won't hesitate, after the experience in NY, to let Terry and Kim know that he doesn't have the players to implement his system on D and that Whaley has failed at QB and OL. Rex is the one who pushed for Taylor and Taylor may be a great find. These moves all free up money to sign Taylor, fix the OT position and get Rex the system players he wants on D. Flame away...Also--read the last paragraph--there is a good chance this team turns it around...if they do maybe none of this happens...but from what I have seen thus far -- this team is not as close to playoff caliber as we hoped and wallowing in hope that guys come around or play better is a worse strategy than some significant changes in my opinion. -
The 3/8's pole: If the season ended today...
JoeF replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
11/53 or 61 counting practice squad and this includes Mario -- normal turnover for an offseason for most teams. Half would be 26.5....Glad you're not a math teacher... -
The 3/8's pole: If the season ended today...
JoeF replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep living in the past and holding on to players who don't fit new systems and whose skill level is ebbing...that's not the Pegula way...no one I named in the first bullet list is core to this team. Woods has been awful this year. Your philosophy keeps the team out of the playoffs for the next 14 years. The only person the Pegula's actually selected is Rex--he is the only one assured of anything. -

Going to throw some things out there as we speed toward the bye week. If the season were to end today... - Robert Woods, Seantrel Henderson, Duke Williams, Bacarri Rambo, EJ Manuel, Nigel Bradham, Percy Harvin, Cordy Glenn, Kyle Williams, Nickel Robey are all looking for work.. Woods is having a sub par year and has hurt the Bills with penalties more than he's helped them. The rest have just plain underperformed or in Harvin's case not shown up... - Aaron Williams and Marquis Goodwin both retire....(another huge cap hit with A. Williams) - Mario Wiiliams is a potential offseason cut after the date where they can spread the cap hit-- Even with taking the whole cap hit in 2016, its a $12 million net cap gain. Rex's system doesn't utilize his talents and the Bills can only afford one $100M D lineman. - If Jerry Hughes didn't carry an $11.6 million dead cap hit -- he would be on the "looking for work" list. Another net negative contributor thus far. - A football czar would be brought in....speculate that its someone Polian recommends -- the list includes Telesco, Caldwell if either are fired...and Whaley gets pissed and leaves. - Danny Crossman would be let go/not retained Things can turn around fast in the NFL....the Bills can go on a run and the team stays pat, restructures M. Williams and Clay and secures Taylor for the future-- this team is capable of winning seven to nine of the remaining 10 games, but this team has not played up to its capability nor has it been well coached.... Its time to turn it around or face a lot of player and front office turn over this offseason.
