  1. Snort laughing....
  2. I'd like to see more reps between the two....Wood blindsided Clay Matthews on a "de-cleater" last year and everyone was praising him. Does Wood lack lower body strength -- yes -- probably from numerous knee injuries and the leg break. Is he a reliable center, who makes clean snaps -- yep, very. Will he have to go truly one on one in Roman's scheme a lot -- probably not. Is he a marginal starter and are we overpaying him--probably. His cap hit next year (2016) is $6 million and his dead cap is $3.4 million...he is one to watch this offseason...Bills will be more aggressive in cap management than ever before. Don't get too attached to any player who is not in the core 10-12...and Wood is not one of these.
  3. Interesting story about Red Bryant's wife Janelle and her dad Jacob Green (NFL All Pro DE). Gives some insight into Bryant as well. Love both signings but I am an ND homer https://www.nflplayerengagement.com/wri/pearls-pigskin/articles/janelle-bryant-wife-spotlight/
  4. Really impressed by him...He looks bigger than the 6-1, 211 in program...He also has a receiver's instinct -- makes himself a target even when he is covered and wins the vast majority of contested throws.
  5. On the positive side-- if he is ready to go by the regular season -- no film on how he will be used. On a related note, the most brilliant play design of the preseason game against the Panthers was the pick that freed Watkins over the middle with about 10 yards of free space around him. It was penalty call that may not be called in the regular season. I thought Sammy did a good job of running his coverage into another Panthers player..I can see Harvin running that play as well. Rex called major bull **** on the call...
  6. Awesome use of the sarcastic sports excuse machine.. I don't usually subscribe to sports message board analysts but when I do -- the first assessment in the original post is pretty much spot on...in College its about physical talent in the pros physical talent is a given and the ability to play the position with anticipation (route anticipation. rush anticipation, audible anticipation) is the differentiator. Stay thirsty for a good QB my friends.
  7. This would be my longest post ever if I listed them... Biggest: Every year for the last 15 I was optimistic about making the playoffs. For the last 9, I have bought season tickets, even though I live in NC, because I want playoff seats. By the way, this year is !@#$ing it. We are going to the playoffs...(I never learn)..
  8. RIP. Met him once at a Special Olympics World Games Opening Ceremonies. Got to talk with him for about 5 minutes. He just loved life and was loved by the Kennedy/Shriver family. The only person on earth who could make Howard Cossell shut his yapper....
  9. you forgot the next sentence ....which is "As much as Vladimir Putin encourages and appreciates open dialog in modern day Russia." Absolute power corrupts absolutely.... The NFL says that the current system leads to swift justice but a deflated football investigation took 5 months...Due process should include an independent body not being paid solely by the NFL looking into investigative issues such as bullygate, spygate and deflate gate. There should be a separate investigation fund that has is made up of both league and NFLPA contributions and the reports should be presented jointly to the commissioner and the head of the union before going public. We are talking about a couple million a year for this fund which is chicken feed for a league that gets $7 billion annually in US TV rights revenue alone. I am sure Richie and Brady will lead the discussion to get NFLPA's contribution. During the Kelly days this **** happened all the time and no one batted an eye. It was a different era without the microscope of social media. Incognito's a cement head -- rubbing the golf tournament hostess's vagina area with a golf club probably sealed that--but in the Kelly era he's just an all-pro guard...
  10. Rex said minor hamstring in a daily presser. Fred is a quick healer. Funny lines from Rex in the injury part of the presser: 1) Hogan had a finger but he has nine others 2) Felton, you can't hurt him....looked bad but he went right back in..
  11. Probably figures that he may get killed if he keeps reaching for balls thrown behind him and/or too high...
  12. He likely is the best QB at camp today. If he starts talking to Pegs -- watch out...
  13. Tied to a large, anchored beach chair...
  14. Exactly.... Thanks Astro! If we ever meet face to face -- a beverage and meal/snack of your choice is on me!
  15. I agree on Wood. What gives me some confidence is that the Bills are probably a lot stronger at G (Miller and Richie vs. Pears and Fat tubs of Injured goo) this year than last. The other thing you will read in Joe B.'s notes is that Miller won 3 of 4 reps against Kyle and Dareus...not bad for a first NFL contact practice....
  16. Said in notes that he got beat by Corbin Bryant twice and Stefan Charles once...look at Joe B.'s notes on WKBW..
  17. You always have great opinions Badol...my glass half-full ones are as follows: I don't believe Bradham will play like a core this year and will show that he's replaceable. He thrived in Shwartz's system but struggled in Pettine's is my evidence. The growth is cap space will allow Glenn to get a deal done I believe particularly after M. Williams extends. Alonzo was a loss = he thrived in Pettine's system and can play in space -- I know this sounds crazy but I think Ty Powell has these same skills and is bigger (1" Shorter but 10 lbs heavier) and faster (4.6 flat 40 to Alonso's 4.64 best) and was making drop plays all over the place in mini-camp. He's less likely to get engulfed like Alonso was the second half of his rookie year...Powell probably is more stout against the run and while not as great as Alonso in coverage (but who knows after the third knee injury) but is serviceable. I think picking up Shady is a 3 year hope that we are competitive -- if Shady is on the Bills for 3 years the cap hit for a cut is less than $6 million and 4 years is less than $3 million That's my side.
  18. Think the core of the bills right now is: Dareus Mario K. WIlliams Hughes Preston Brown Gilmore Watkins Shady Clay Wood (despite a reported bad practice today) Carpenter This is about all you can pay at the top range of salary at their position. Neither Kiko or Spiller would crack this list today. This makes them part of the roster that can be churned...and in fact we traded Kiko who was not part of the core for Shady who is...A good trade--upgraded talent at a position of need (exposed last year) by trading from a position of strength (Front 7 on D). Also will get a comp pick or two for net loss in FA. The Bills are finally spending money like other NFL teams which means cap management to keep the core intact is necessary--churning outside the core is going to happen.

  20. Two favorite quotes: 1) You could walk into a bar with a $100 bill taped to your forehead and still not walk out with anything, male or female! 2) Sooner or later everybody pays the Piper! God bless the ones who make us laugh...Roddy was one of those.
  21. Thanks Astro..For the draft and training camp you are always bringing the leather baby!
  22. My first reaction on this was the Bills had grounds to fire him at the initial arrest...my speculation that the arrest alone violated a personal conduct clause in his employment contract. I still don't know that I agree with keeping him (again my personal opinion). Get him into camp and move on I guess. Maybe he and Brady can hang together in September....on the beach...play deflated sand volleyball and sit on beach chairs...you know guy stuff.
  23. Could be Shirl....
  24. From the article: The source said that if the Bills dismiss Kromer, they would follow a course of firing him with cause and, therefore, not pay him his salary, believed to be slightly more than $1 million annually. Kromer then could file a grievance. ____ Still believe the arrest alone violated the personal conduct clause in Kromer's employment agreement with the Bills. He may win partial remuneration with a grievance -- but the arrest alone likely is grounds enough for a "with cause" firing. That was the whole point of my tirade at the beginning of the thread. The Bills gave Kromer the benefit of a further investigation but likely did not have to....
  25. I agree MM -- the return on the capital purchase price isn't an issue --- unless something very unforeseen happens franchise value will only grow. The only thing I would offer is that an NFL franchise in LA, San Antonio, Toronto, London is worth a handsome premium now and if another party had bought the Bills (such as a bombastic Presidential Candidate) that premium might have been too great to resist in the current lease period. We have no worries of that with the Pegulas.
