  2. This means it won't happen :-)
  3. I know we all have a tendency to think the most negative here (we are Bills fans after all) ...but I honestly think the Bills OC job is pretty damn attractive...the Bills have weapons (Clay, Shady, Sammy, Dizzy), an established O-line under contract, a serviceable QB option or the ability to impact who they go after....not bad..
  4. Sean McDermott has a plan-- but the bastard isn't sharing it with us...a bit of a refreshing change...
  5. Repeat post from the Boras Thread... That intense hug between AVP and Aaron Rodgers Sunday post game seemed like a good-bye..just saying...it wasn't a great emotional game win hug -- it was I am so glad we got to work together hug...

  7. Godsey is worth a look as OC, QB coach or TE Coach..still young -- 38 -- 4 years with the Pats before following O'Brien to the Texans... I understand your point about old and middling and preferring up and coming. McDermott has what appears to be boundless energy and enthusiasm --experienced hands like Frazier and Childress can steer this into productivity by managing their parts of the staff well. There's also something to be said about McDermott being involved in everything and bringing his stamp into everything - an older coach may not like that. He is getting advice from Rivera and Reid, both head coaches who have been to the SB, on who to hire..there is no doubt. They both want him to succeed...yeah its a competitive world but you do not screw someone from your coaching tree -- you help them and encourage them.
  8. Texans just fired George Godsey-- 2 year coordinator; Offensive assistant and TE coach at NE; former Ga Tech QB....
  9. Geez, Marrone is not just on a short leash, its a short leash with a choker chain and a electric shock collar and Coughlin is the master.
  10. Rob: "Jay-- I have this great concept. Its called the 10 man defense." Jay: "Rob did you have bacon at breakfast -- there's gristle in your teeth." Rob: "My brother says our D is the most innovative ever." Jay: "Not sure you can fit through the office door -- we might have to widen it..."
  11. http://www.catscratchreader.com/2012/2/28/2831884/the-panthers-defense-a-treatise-on-the-jim-johnson-4-3-part-i This might have something to do with it. In the Jim Johnson 4/3 the free safety position is truly a tackler of last resort and not in the box often at all..its a coverage and command position...probably less filing the holes.... I hope he is prioritizing his long term health. The guy is going to make a heck of a coach some day.
  12. Coach McDermott knows what he is doing. Quiet confidence but knows to surround himself with experienced folks who buy into the culture and working environment he is trying to build. I am impressed he is targeting experienced folks-- but I am more impressed with two other things.. 1) Folks who worked with him in the past when he was a young up and coming coach seem to be really flocking to work with him now 2) He is hiring a defensive staff that can lead the defense and he can be a head coach not a glorified D coordinator...
  13. If it were Olson it would be a done deal already. McDermott really wants Childress I bet and Andy has already given his blessing. I would be okay with Olson as QB coach. I would be better with Greg Olsen at TE........ Not really-- he's a co-offensive coordinator right now...he would have the title exclusively.
  14. Dumpster fire? Dysfunctional? &8%# that #%&^. Net worth--yeah baby.
  15. McDermott: let me show you a full Nelson Russ. Doug for you I was thinking of a new move called the privy. It's a modified neck twist
  16. McDermott should have challenged Vance Joseph to a wrestle off - winner got McCoy..
  17. Matt Nagy is an: Andy Reid Disciple Ready to move out on his own-- did some play calling this year for the first time this year From Philly Former QB working with QBs I bet calls have already been placed but the delay is the Chiefs playoff game..(Speculation) http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/article83104442.html
  18. Matt Nagy Current Co offensive coordinator KC Chiefs
  19. Get out of my way you old fossil...I can pick my own staff. This miracle worker doesn't need a Yoda! Obviously yours, St. Doug Head Coach until Coughlin says I am not Jacksonville Jaguars
  20. I think he goes where he believes he can get back to being a head coach the quickest. If he chooses the Bills that is a very positive sign.
  21. I think McCoy is still being paid by the Chargers. There may be a clause in his Chargers contract that says any salary he gets in his next NFL Coaching job, if its as a position coach, administrative aid, coordinator, assistant head coach or head coach reduces the Chargers liability. So unless the new salary exceeds his head coaching salary with the Chargers -- its probably not a factor.
  22. He just asked me what comes after 10
  23. Everyone's decidedly middling on this choice and a lot of it depends on who the coordinators are .. but let me give you a take from a Panthers fan (adopted team)...McDermott has had a lot of talent on the front 7 in Carolina but he has also dealt with a lot of change. The turnover has been what you would expect in NFL but he has lost both front four and secondary members every year and still thrived. The core has been a solid LB core led by Keuchly and Davis--both of whom are really talented. McDermott has made the slight adjustments every year to make new personnel work and has gotten great production from both 1st round draft picks and players like Mario Addison an undrafted free agent. The guy adapts scheme and role to the player -- the gap assignments and alignment remain the same but the roles change based on who is in the role. Some things I think will happen. Keep in mind that the current Bills have more talent than what he started with in Carolina. Kyle Williams will want to play in this system Marcel Dareus will thrive in this system. Watch some tape of Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei Jerry Hughes and Shaq Lawson will be hand on the ground rushers Lorenzo Alexander will be retained The LB group needs to change to a quicker gap fillers with coverage skills -- look for AJ Klein to be a FA target -- not sure P. Brown and Ragland fit- I think Zach Brown is actually a better fit. Gilmore likely will not be retained Look for the Bills to draft a Shaq Thompson type LB - McDermott's real creative juices flowed with Shaq With a ball control offense this D could be dominating again. I would be fine with McCoy or retaining Lynn if he doesn't get another offer. I think the guys a good young coach. I think he will be here for a long time. He's got the teaching skills, creativity and has been part of two great cultures - Eagles under Reid and Panthers under Rivera. He is not going to set the world on fire in pressers or make brash promises but he has a lot more fire than Jauron or Gailey and a lot more culture building skills than Marrone.
  24. McDermott was a leading voice in encouraging Kuechly not to play again this year...and said all the right things. Would have been more interesting if the Panthers had been in the playoff race. By the way...Look for the Bills to go after AJ Klein LB hard in free agency....
