I get the USC thing also even though many people can't. When the qb's from a school are 0 for 10 or so there is a concern. One thing bothers me about Barkley - he had what many would consider the best wide receivers in college. Didn't seem to help him.

Here is possibly the major good thing about "Saint Polian" - The ability to attract a quality head coach. Don't underestimate this. Right now anyone with an option would go elsewhere. Even some without a head coaching option as evidenced by Shottenheimer's kid with the last opening when Gailey was hired.

I am not saying Polian is good or bad but..... what GM would look bad with the first pick in the draft and seeing Peyton Manning standing there. What else has he done for the team. Indy has not had a good running back. Peyton made the receivers. Defense was average at best. Feeney who he drafted the only star. Remove Manning from Indy, they are a .500 team and Polian may have been gone a long time ago. Look at Denver - now a Super Bowl favorite according to many people with one major change from last year. Manning in for Tebow. If Polian could get us a quarterback rated in the top 10, I say bring him on. Stevie Johnson would have 125 catches with a good QB and think every day is Christmas.

Why is SJ13 getting a pass???

I hope your other 15165 posts are more insightful than the BS you are spouting in this thread. -
Stafford is very inaccurate.

There are two things about this win over this "unbelievably poor Arizona team" that many do not realize: 1. The Cardinals beat the Patriots in New England 2. The Cardinals had won 8 games in a row at home. First 3 this year and last 5 in 2011 So although they are the Arizona Cardinals, this was a good win on the road.

Really? Sounds masochistic to me. Your motto - We will support no matter how poorly we are treated or how often we are abused.

I agree with Sullivan. NBC basically asked "why did Mario sign with such a loser organization that will never make the playoffs". Take the money and run?? This was an opportunity to defend his teammates and the organization. The whole defense was concerning starting with the scheme this week - seemed to be no rush, just contain and play off the wide receivers. So there is the defense for Mario's play. However he seems very passive to say the least. 1. Mario says in the article "Like I said, by any means necessary. I've got to take care of it, put everything to the side, and try to get to the quarterback" TRY TO GET TO THE QUARTERBACK???? 2.if a kid playing freshman football came home and said the tackle was doing what the Jets tackle did, most if not all responsible parents would say knock he hand away or do what it takes if the refs are not going to call it. 3. What do you think Bruce would have done? How about Kyle Williams? How about any NFL football player? I am hoping Mario got home and went across the street to Jim Kelly's house. I got to believe Kelly would have had some motivating words for Mario.

How about the NY Giants in the last Super Bowl?

Gotta love it. Union won't approve without "concessions". There is nothing I see where it hurts the rank and file. It would be a win for fans and players. It would create more excitement for fans of contending teams. If a player was on IR and could come back off, you would think that would be a win for the player. But improving the game or making it better for the players is irrelevant unless there are "concessions".

NFL Adopts new blackout policy

Should ticket prices be the same also? In other words do you recommend Dallas, New Jersey or Washington average seat prices? Why should Buffalo have among the average lowest ticket price? -
Parcells Loves Freddy!!

Your friend is correct. The Giants gameplan was to stop the pass at all costs. They even had defensive linemen in two point stances. The Bills were badly outcoached and should have run the ball down the Giants throat until they changed their defensive scheme. -
Does on the field performance mean anything to you? By your reasoning the Patriots are overpaying Brady.

I do agree it would be awesome to have someone considered for all pro. The point is you don't get rid of solid players (Johnson and Schoebel) because you are searching for the all pro. Get the proven all pro first and then let the other player go. Schoebel and Johnson are both very good. Bell is decent. If the Bills could go back in time and draft Mike Williams again, should they let Bell go? Winning teams have all pros and role players. Think of Phil Hansen, Pete Metzelaars, Jim Richter, Don Beebe. Many of the posters on this board would trash them because "we need to upgrade the position".
-
Would be great to have an all pro at every position.

To correct the idea of just transition him with the inference that the move will save money. Here are the Franchise/Transition tag numbers for 2010 along with highest paid for each position. Can't find 2011, most likely due to no NFL contract this year. CB: $9.6 million/$8.1 million (Champ Bailey, $13.2M) DE: $12.4 million/$10.2 million (Julius Peppers, $16.7M) DT: $7 million/$6.4 million (Tommie Harris, $8.6M) LB: $9.7 million/$8.4 million (DeMarcus Ware, $11.4M) OL: $10.7 million/$9.1 million (Joe Staley, $13.5M) P/K: $2.8 million/$2.6 million (Shane Lechler, $3.1M) QB: $16.4 million/$14.6 million (Peyton Manning, $21.2M) RB: $8.2 million/$7.2 million (Reggie Bush, $10.6M) S: $6.5 million/$6 million (Adrian Wilson, $7M) TE: $5.9 million/$5.2 million (Dallas Clark, $6.8M) WR: $9.5 million/$8.7 million (Larry Fitzgerald, $10.9M Source - http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/02/nfl-franchise-player-tender-amounts-for-2010-season/1 I could be wrong but I doubt salaries have digressed much, if at all. Also for those who say teams have to spend to cap starting this year (2012)- WRONG. It is 2013. Think if the Bills hung on to all their average players who go to other teams and play well. (Due totally to the good cast around them.) Might actually have an average team that makes the playoffs periodically. What a novel idea.

Stevie Johnson's Facebook entry

If you haven't noticed yet, Revis is still looking for his jock. Unless a Megatron is availanle, Steve is a number 1. Talking about maturity - Does anyone remember how mature Kelly was year one and two? How about Bruce? How about Thurman? The guy you are talking about is old. This team is building. Before all the injuries, the collection of receivers the Bills had was doing pretty well. -
What is the "Stache" doing now? I could not agree more that Edwards has to go, but Wannstedt has apparently not contributed anything of value. It seems to me we need to replace the entire defensive staff.

Epic turnaround or continued free falling?
Saratoga Leo replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I couldn't disagree more. I was at the game last week and there was a lot of spark in this team. The effort was there and the Bills should have won. Remember they were playing the Jets, who match up well against the Bills, in NJ. My opinion is if they play like last week, at least 4 of the games are winnable and if the Patriots are not playing for anything in week 17, who knows. Sure it would take some breaks, but I wouldn't bet against it. -
Bennet came to Buffalo in 1987. He played 8 games, started 7 and had 8.5 sacks with 69 tackles and 5 forced fumbles. Define "played a whole lot". I'll bet Polian wished he waited until the next spring to make that trade. FYI - The next season he started 16 games with 9.5 sacks. He really figured it out, didn't he.
-
See Cornelius Bennet. Realize not a wide receiver but how did that work out? The Bills have many injured receivers. If a team can pick someone up who can be a team player and fit in, why not spend a 4th round pick? Is italways better to bring someone in off another team's practice squad or might it be better to bring in a veteran who has been there before?
