Peter King says Bills/Rams Super Bowl
The Dean replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If either, or both, succeed why would you care who he predicted? You related to Davis? I think Davis is the most likely to make a big impact, but he "emerged" last year, in my mind. Kumerow has yet to make his mark. If he "emerges" as well, how does that hurt? -
Peter King says Bills/Rams Super Bowl

I don't agree with his SB outcome, at this point in time. I think it would be a GREAT game. Right now, I'll take the Bills in that game. -

OK, then he could have been a distraction. I had forgotten about the meeting stuff, and even if the other players love your personality, that can cause issues, as can taking plays off. But do you really think the "use of weed" is an issue in today's NFL? I suppose if some think it's part of the reason he is late and takes plays off, it could be. But aren't they just really mad he's late and takes plays off? I really can't imagine a locker room caring if their teammates use pot, as long as they do their jobs. And aren't dumb enough to fail the test. OK. You've convinced me to do a 180 on this. I suppose he definately might have been a locker room issue. -
Out of Market Streaming options of Bills game

That actually could be a lot of fun. I just can't imagine the video experience would be up to snuff. I suppose it could if you have a great setup. But if not, if you are that point, a sketchy stream/VPN may be your best option. But very creative idea, for sure. -
Changing up how I watch the Bills game
The Dean replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find many/most electronic products today are FAR better in many ways, and far less expensive than they used to be. The drawback? They are mostly disposable and not built to last. So they have to be replaced on a regular basis. I think it might be explained away by saying: Technology change so fast, a 4 year old product is obsolete. Of course, we know better. -

Out of Market Streaming options of Bills game

I have the Ticket without a dish. If DirectTV agrees you cannot receive DirectTV, you can get the online version. I'm not sure the reason I qualify, but I rent (and my landlord won't install DTV) and live where the trees almost completely cover any access to the sky. So maybe that is why. But to those who don't understand why the prices for these things are higher in the USA than Europe, or can't figure out why we just can't buy a single team ticket, it's both simple and complicated. The simple part is MONEY. Not just for the NFL or DirectTV, but for all the networks that pay HUGE fees to the NFL to carry the games. BILLIONS of dollars., If more people stream a game, then fewer people are watching on their local station. Fewer people, lower advertising rates. They need to recoup the licensing fees. The complicated part of the explanation are the details of all the contracts. I wouldn't be surprised if in DTV's contract they are specifically prohibited from selling it a team at a time. It only makes sense, financially for all the other partners. While I don't know the exact details of that relationship, the contract with the broadcast networks is dense. Many rules and regulations about what they can, and can't do with regard to the broadcasts. Oh, and the prices in Europe for the NFL related packages is far less for a couple reasons. Demand is much less. But mostly no European broadcast network is paying BILLIONS of dollars to broadcast the games, so their stake in maintaining the (I would think relatively small audience) isn't nearly as big as it is in the USA. With any luck, the new contracts will recognize the viewing landscape has changed since the current contracts were signed. I expect to see some changes in what is available. But don't expect to get any less expensive. -
Speed: John Brown vs E Sanders
The Dean replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Something like that. IMO if things go as they should, they both get plenty of opportunities. One might get more catches, one more yards, TDs, etc. If the offense is successful and the team succeeds, who (other than the player, his agent/family/friends) really cares about who has better numbers? Especially if you factore in blocking, effort when not the primary receiver, etc. -

So just not an option for most. I bit the bullet and got the Sunday Ticket online for $300. Friends pitching in. I rent so I'm eligible. And since I'm traveling a bit in September, I can't rely on the flaky streams and don't want to have to find a bar in the middle of nowhere PA, where I will be for week #2. I'll be close to Boston for week #3, and could find a bar no problem. That's a $50 bill minimum. So, this year, it should pay for itself. -

Are you simply making stuff up? https://www.buffalobills.com/team/depth-chart WR#2, not slot https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nor/2020_roster.htm NO Saints 202 WR, not slot Sanders has the ability to play slot as well as outside. -
John Brown requested a release from the Raiders
The Dean replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I made it clear here I think I have given him props for what he did as a Bill. Several times in several threads, including the one you just responded to. Not sure what else I can say. And just to point it out, the poster who made the original claim seems to be pretty OK with my update: -

John Brown requested a release from the Raiders

You must have missed where I said I read it as "top 100 players", not WRs. I also said, neither may not be top 75, WR though. And I have no more need to name them than the person who made the claim. The Bills may have four WRs better. I'm certain some teams have 3 as well. Don't get me wrong, Brown was very good here. He should help a WR needy team. -
The Difference Between Being Waived and Being Released
The Dean replied to Metal Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The player was "cut" handles both instances, I believe. Basically the team is doing the same thing in all instances--letting the player go. How that player's dismissal is handled by league rules differs with respect to the player's circumstances (injured, years of service). But to the OP, yes, this did need to be posted for many here, IMO. -
I really can't disagree with any of this. But with regard to Hollister, I don't think it's as much about him in particular (at least it isn't with me). But more about Beane's stated desire to upgrade the unit from last year. Well, maybe that is Sweeney returning and the progress that he thinks Knox made in the offseason. OK, i guess I will buy that. I can't believe he thinks Morris is the upgrade, but what do I know. Gilliam was here last year and is now a FB. Can he play TE in a pinch? Sure. But I'm thinking if you are upgrading the position, you aren't looking at a part timer for that. Since they were also reported to be interested in trading for Ertz, I'm thinking they weren't 100% sold on their current dept at the position. Some have asked, "why would you care so much about a 3rd stringer?" The thing is, nearly every 53 roster prediction I read before the cuts had Hollister either as the starter or #2. I don't think even ONE had him as the 3rd string TE. Maybe everybody was wrong,. Well, actually they WERE wrong, But you don't find that surprising that the most experienced TE on the roster, and the one they seemingly chose to upgrade the position, was cut? I found it interesting and surprising. And with players this young, I doubt age is a driving factor. Hollister is 27, that is plenty young for a TE. Now I'm all about trusting McBeane and I'm not stopping now. They have to have seen something that gives them confidence in this group. I sure hope so. I really hope that next year, the FO isn't in the same TE bind they seemed to be in last year. And I say, right up front, the complaining about TE, #2 CB, lack of blazing speed with the WR's is all interesting and has some merit. This is basically the same team that went 13-3 last year and missed the SB due to one poor game. So I certainly not panicking too much. Just finding a few moves interesting.

Brandon Beanes Presser today…informative
The Dean replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would imagine, when you mention "locker room", you are referring to how a guy impacts team chemistry. I have no idea if Dareus was a distraction in the locker room, but I think we would have heard about it. I can almost guarantee he was a turd for the front office, but that isn't the locker room. -

Was Dareus unpopular with hit teammates? Isn't that basically what a "turd in the locker room" means? -
I just hope Jacquan can meet the challenge when called upon the way Marlow did.
-
He was resigned by Detroit today anyway. But I was thinking more along the lines of him over Jaquan
