I get this just fine. I have no interest in a downtown stadium for many reasons. My initial response was to Solomon's comment "Bills would have plenty of land to have the RV parking and flat asphalt for tailgating." I'm just trying to figure out how he believes that. Clearly (IMO) there is no economic incentive for it, except perhaps for the Bills (or whoever owns the lots). But it doesn't seem like a likely outcome to me. But I'm open to a dialogue to those who think it can be accomplished. BTW, if they own the land, parking lots actually bring revenue to whoever owns them. Bills/City/whomever.

Shaq Lawson on trade block (update - traded to Jets)

Just figured someone should post the OFFICIAL Texans' depth chart instead of third party sites: https://www.houstontexans.com/team/depth-chart -
The NFL only started playing the National Anthem with players on the field rather recently, I think. Well after 9/11 if I'm not mistaken. 2006? 2008? I really think they should just revert to the old way and avoid all this. Edit: The game after 9/11 but not until 2009 as the standard" https://www.axios.com/the-history-of-singing-the-national-anthem-before-nfl-games-1513305769-97a4edd0-6748-432d-b1cc-2b377848e712.html https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/new-england-patriots/nfl-teams-being-field-anthem-relatively-new-practice Very easy fix for those uneasy with players expressing their views in a very modest and non violent way.

Fitz discusses the fanbases where he has played
The Dean replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A great decision in theory isn't necessarily a good decision in practice. -
Completely agree. I could live with a retractable roof, but not a big fan. As much as I don't think a downtown stadium is worth the cost and hassle to Buffalo residents, should a downtown stadium be the plan, I hope you are involved and can work to ensure your vision comes to fruition. First of all, Lucas Oil Stadium is NOT A DOME! It has a retractable roof, that is completely un-dome like. A DOME is a shape, it just doesn't mean "a roof", Lucas Oil was started in 2005 and finished in 2008. That probably accounts for at least 50% of the additional cost. Then there are environmental issues as well as a number of variables. And as you mention, there are state and local issues. But I'm guessing Indianapolis has its share of corruption. Just to show you how one factor can effect this, have you seen the cost of steel lately? I have clients in the steel-related industry and they currently have no inventory because the availability is so low. And when it is the cost is sky high!

Seems to be working now. At least for me. Hard to believe someone would quote the article but not provide the link. Maybe not all that hard to believe. And yes, CB is where the Bills are thinnest should Tre go down. No doubt in my mind. As has been discussed, an improved pass rush should help. Also the Bills scheme is a bit more forgiving to CBs who are disciplined but maybe not all that athletic. But there's only so much a scheme can do when the talent gets thin.

Josh Allen: Contract extended through 2028

I do not believe that is what Gunner and I were referring to. -
Josh Allen: Contract extended through 2028

Yes it is a common trait of our fan base, and I think most fan bases. Sports fans act like morons most of the time. I'm sure many are, but some just lose all sense of perspective when dealing with their favorite teams or players. It's most clear to me when people just TRASH young opposing QBs chances of success or improvement. -
8/26 practice - last one open to media
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I first read that in the morning, probably before coffee. While going through texts and emails and catching up. So when I saw Tip Drill it just stuck in my head. It was clearly just a play that went awry for the offense. And a nice defensive effort. -
You are too kind.

8/26 practice - last one open to media
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here it is. I guess he really didn't say it was a tip drill, but well, see for yourself: https://billswire.usatoday.com/2021/08/26/buffalo-bills-tip-drill-interception-tredavious-white-andre-smith/ -
8/26 practice - last one open to media
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw a post much earlier today with this. They described it as a "tip drill". 🤔 I somehow doubt that. So if fans can come on September 1st, won't media be there then, too? Either way we're likely to get many more reports from that day. -
On the bolded part, we agree. But only because the NFL charges regular season prices for exhibition games (at least for Season Ticket holders). THAT is a racket! But to say the preseason is without value is simply preposterous, IMO. Ask the head coaches. Even some very experienced QBs say they can use a bit of time in preseason to get up to speed and the feel of a real game. They certainly don't need 4 games and may not need 3. IMO 2 warm up games is about right. What other major sport is run without a preseason? What would the officials do to get ready? For those who are concerned that Josh might be injured in, what I believe will be, just a couple/few series, I hope you are SCREAMING for the Bills to pull him when the game seems fairly settled. I will never understand why teams leave in their starting QB for the entire game when the score is out of hand.

I agree with the suggestion, but what makes you think this hasn't been discussed, possibly on many occasions, among the players themselves?

I'm guessing Constitutional Law wasn't something you studied, (or at least passed) while in school. There is NOTHING here about the US Government suppressing Cole's freedom of speech.

I didn't realize asking people to wear masks, get tested, etc., vaccinated or not, was "punishment". Excuse me if I thought it was simply asking people to do what's best for the team and society in general. I understand the relaxing of the protocols for vaccinated was seen as a reward of sorts. But when it became clear the variants were causing more issues than expected, those "rewards" may need to be pulled back. They aren't punishments though, IMO. It has to be a nightmare. Especially when you have posters who don't seem to care they have no "right" to be here. Our participation is at the discretion of the owners of the site. Obey the rules or go play elsewhere. As to the questions asked of McDermott. After the second or third Covid question was asked/turfed, it was beating a dead horse and wasting the opportunity for a reporter to get some real information to her/his. Good reporters when to move on, get real info, and keep the conversation moving forward. There might be an opportunity later to use something the interviewee said, to comeback to something said earlier.

I didn't see anyone address this. From what I saw, he said (paraphrasing): Many starters will play. Some might only play a snap or two. Some might play the quarter. Some might play into the second half. (and this is just my squeezing out a bit more) Some might not start, but come in in situations. The entire plan for each player is too complicated to answer in a short press conference, so let's just leave it at that. Many starters will play. I think you are vastly, maybe completely, underestimating the value of preseason games for some players and teams.

Backup LB Appreciation Thread 🏈
The Dean replied to TheyCallMeAndy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no shortage of players who "play hurt", as that is expected in a physical game. The question to me is, "is the player's injury really debilitating and preventing him from doing his job at a high level?" I think it was fairly obvious Edward's shoulder was affecting his play. Maybe he should have just shut it down for the year, and avoided the criticism. But I'm sure the Bills thought Edwards was still and upgrade to his backup, in the majority of situations. And to Edwards' credit, he sucked it up and played as well as he was able. One could see his play improve near the end of the year as, I assume, the issue from his injury was waning. -

Nor has he brought up his shoulder injury, to my knowledge. The guy played handicapped the entire year last year. But let's not even mention that.
