  1. The Rooney rule was not misguided and has been very successful. If you don't understand what the Rooney rule is about, and why it was enacted, you are clueless. As BlueFire notes, it might be time for it to go away, as it has done exactly what it was intended to do. I'm not sure it is obsolete quite yet, but I think I can see it ending in the near future.
  2. Based on the article, I'd say they both walked. I don't find anything that suggests charges were filed against either party.
  3. Are you really that clueless, or just trying to make some stupid point?

  5. I wish I would have tuned in for Kelly. But what has become of Patrick's show? I used to listen to it years ago, and always thought it was good. I haven't been able to get it on the radio for years now, but discovered it on TV a few months ago. It's freaking TERRIBLE now. What's with all the worthless side-kicks? Now it seems like it's a Howard Stern-type show, where they talk about themselves for half the show. Patrick is talking smack about how great he is. WTF? I admit I drew these conclusions from a small sample size. But just about every time I flip it on, I'm face-to-face with "McLovin" or some other worthless regular. The only radio sports talk show I can listen to anymore is Van Pelt's (with Tirico on occasion). I don't listen that often, but when I do it seems like it is still a fairly straight-ahead show. Not some vanity gab fest.
  6. It must be shocking to those who pimp him constantly that Leach couldn't nail down even this mid-level coaching gig. He'd look good on the sidelines for SUNY@Buffalo.
  7. Surely someone who does these sort of things on a regular basis is making bad financial decisions. Just as surely, a young millionaire who never spends any of that money a bit foolishly, nor has any fun/takes any chances is a dullard and and a stick-in-the-mud.
  8. I would assume Fitz is the QB going into 2011 even if they draft a QB in the first round. At least I hope they don't try to rush a rookie into the starting QB role.
  9. It's never fun trying to reason with a lynch mob. But somebody has to do it. Yes, Brohm was not good today. (That's an understatement.) There were many factors that contributed to his poor play. But like you say, "no excuses". It doesn't hurt however, to take a look a the various reasons/factors/influences before writing the guy off.
  10. Gotta be muddled.
  11. :worthy: Well played, Fearless Leader.
  12. Indeed. The problem was my wording in the earlier post. Let me correct that: There were many who asserted JP would never again be on the roster of an NFL team. Better?
  13. I also remember several posters who were positive JP would never again play in the NFL.
  14. More. Anyone writing a guy off after one start (his 2nd start in the NFL and 1st in over a year) has to be crazy. Obviously he didn't deliver on any level today. But you simply don't write a guy off after a bad performance. I'm not suggesting the Bills have to keep him to see if he can do better, but if they do you will know why.
  15. First of all, I don't recall many "Brohm boys" unless that's your name for posters who look to see some evidence in actual play, before writing a guy off. If I recall correctly, your main evidence was that he was drafted in the second round and then cut (before being picked back up and put on the PS). That simply isn't evidence of any sort. As for his performances in preseason games, there were a few and he had good, and bad, efforts. With that said, I am far from writing off Brohm based on his performance in this one game.
  16. Siragusa is a buffoon and adds nothing but some unintentional humor on occasion. There are few who add less to a broadcast, IMO. Kenny is OK. Not as good as papa Marv, but better than his uncle Steve. Great list. But how do they figure Joe Buck is worse than Joe Theismann? I see now it was based on votes. OK. For the most part, an excellent list.
  17. Maybe he wrote it at halftime.
  18. Certainly not the best circumstances for Brohm, but backups rarely get their starts under the best of circumstances. I really would like to see a quality outing for BB.
  19. While I understand the bashing of Maybin as a player, I don't get the attacks on him as a person. What has he done, off the field, to warrant these attacks? From most everything I have read about Maybin, he was a good student and a fine young man. He is also very well spoken, based on the little I have heard of him speaking. He can probably get his Communications degree in short order and go to work at one of any number of media jobs. He probably isn't going to be working at a car wash, or McDonald's. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a job somewhere at Penn State for Aaron, if and when he needs it.
  20. I'm glad you said it that way, instead of using the trite and misguided "empty calories". They are not empty! They may not have nutritional value, but they are chock FULL of great taste and good cheer.
  21. I wish you (and Sage) luck. Sincerely.
  22. Since you make a distinction between "wine" for the month and "anything" on your wife's birthday, can I assume you may consume anything other than wine all month (with the exception of your wife's birthday)? Beer ok? Booze ok?
  23. You still, however, would need to find an excuse for not drinking on both NY eve and NY day.
  24. A classic summer drink. I've been known to tip a few even during the winter months.
