  1. So, even with the dead-cap expense, there is a net savings of $2+ million, next year? Correct? A drop in the bucket, but still good to know we didn't do into negative cap $$ for this. What does the cap savings for 2017 do for the Bills? (Other than line Pegula's pockets.) New here? Virgil, you've been here long enough to know this is no place to be reasonable. OK, I'm worn out and couldn't get to the end. I have a few comments, not that anyone will probably care: Marcel has definately shown he has "maturity issues", and is one strike away from a season-long suspension, I think. His contract is huge. And, perhaps, he isn't a perfect fit for this defense. But the guy has HUGE talent (which was totally being wasted, this year). I'm not sure I understand him being called "a cancer" in the locker room. When a guy is really a cancer, you hear of other players actively complaining about him. Maybe I missed all the complaints, this year. The defense certainly isn't falling apart from the inside, which can be another indicator of a locker room cancer. He was a thorn in management's side, but that isn't the same as a "locker room cancer", IMO. I also read where some say he "stopped caring' after he got the big contract. Since I'm not a psychic, or someone who's pompous enough to know what's in someone else's mind, I can't speak to that. To me, this makes sense if, and only if, McBeane (we still using that?) believe the Bills are a better team without Dareus, than with him, THIS YEAR. Obviously they are not a more talented team without him, but perhaps they actually believe the Bills will perform better with him gone. Even if they believe they are better off long-term with him gone, do they think they had to make this move NOW to accomplish that? Perhaps they did. If so, OK. But that's the case, I would consider Dareus a failure of this regime, as much as it was a failure of the last one. If they tried everything they can to get Marcel to "buy in" (BTW, why are we sure he did not?) and failed---that is one big failure. If they didn't try everything, that's a failure of a bigger, and more important, kind, IMO. That's a "Chip Kelly" kind of failure. If he performs at a high level in Jacksonville, it's evidence (not proof) that this management team can't adapt well enough to get the most out of every player---even the troublesome kind. If he fails in Jacksonville, then this management team should be praised for ripping the bandaid off, and just moving on. Unless, of course, the Bills run D falls totally apart. With all that said, if they weren't going to use Marcel, then I guess getting anything for him was OK. I just can't understand why they didn't use him more. I thought the TB game might be the start of a turnaround for him, here.
  2. I think you would decide who really gets credit/blame for this trade in the same way most here tend to judge Bills trades (or draft picks). Any move you deem to be positive belongs to the guy in management you like the most. And every bad move you credit to the guy you dislike the most. So, if you think this is a bad move for Jax, you probably say "That's a Marrone move!' If Dareus ends up playing great for Jax, and makes a real difference, you later change this to "Coughlin's a genius! Despite Marrone they are doing well." Easy, see?
  3. Did the spell check really change "bitc#" to "b-word"? I know I didn't type "b-word" and I doubt you did, either. Anyway, I don't see letting a guy seek a trade as "walking all over you". Getting most ANYTHING for Boldin is better than nothing (since he is of no value to the Bills, otherwise), just for spite. This is particularly true when the Bills can approve, or deny, any trade. No precedent, that must be repeated, is set here. I also can see subtlety and nuance---everything isn't black and white. If there is some Karmic punishment to be dealt to Boldin, it isn't the Bills duty or responsibility to judge or administer. I think they are best served by working to help make the team better. If they can help another in the process, and help (or at least negatively impact) their own progress, why not do both?
  4. Well, since they have granted him permission to seek a trade, there is no disservice on the Bills' part, IMO. But had they denied the permission, they would have been doing a disservice to both parties. Obviously, there would be the disservice to Boldin (and I understand many think he deserves that). But when you engage in retribution/pettiness/etc, you also do a disservice to yourself. IMO it's best not to let others drag you down into behaving in a way you normally would not, if it can be avoided. Karma's a B word.
  5. Yes, let's drag stupidity like this into every thread.
  6. This soft zone scares the hell out of me---particularly when they aren't getting to the QB. But it's hard to argue with its success, so far. With that said, I think Brady will tear it up, unless the Bills put him on his ass.
  7. Who would argue that lateraling the ball is a fumble? But if it hits the ground, what else is it?

  9. Sports Night was a great show. RG was terrific as Isaac.
  10. I completely agree with this. Let him seek a trade, but just don't release his rights, outright. But he can still be very committed to his causes, and still play football. In some ways, being visible might actually help more, than just working on it out of the public eye.
  11. I tend to agree with this. He probably soured on the idea of the comeback after the Bills dumped many of their better (or at least more well-known) players. And I don't doubt his sincerity to his commitment to social causes. But people do change their minds. That doesn't necessarily mean they were liars when they said what they said. But in general, I think players (and people in general) should avoid using absolutes when they don't'have to. Don't say "I'm never coming back", because even you don't know how you will feel at a different time.
  12. I'm not completely clear on the rule. But I was under the impression it's only in effect for fumbles into the end zone, with under 2 min left. Then again, I could be full of crap.
  13. Criminally underrated. Centers are underrated in general, IMO. It's supposed to be the easiest position on the OL, according to some. But I think to play it at a high level (as Hull did) takes not only athleticism, but intelligence. Kent was worth his weight in gold, on that team.
  14. Way overdue. Now you can really RIP Cookie.
  15. So, does the OP have to pay off in dollars, or donuts? It's bad enough I have to hear this retard saying on TV every 10 minutes. Do I really have to read it here?
  16. Racist! Seriously though, the dude can flat out boot the ball. Would gladly take him on the Bills.
  17. It ALWAYS ends up with your penis falling off.
  18. #keepourgirlsandsellthemintoslaverywhileyouareatit ???????
  19. I've been to many Raider games, in Oakland and LA, and found them to be some of the best fans---and a ton of fun. Yes, they dress up like idiots, but in my experience, they are really OK. Now, Jet's fans---that's a different story.
  20. Brady would have CURED that kid. Seriously though, good story.
  21. Should we start referring to him as "Stella"?
  22. Not sure why you chose "crybaby". "Whistle blower" seems more like it. Either way, don't you think rumors from questionable sources should be noted as such? If I would have written the OP, it would have included a disclaimer.
  23. Glenn looked very good, today. Milano was also terrific in coverage.
