It doesn't matter if they didn't control their own destiny. Neither did the Chiefs who were depending on a loss for the Bills against Bengals. Fancy that #1 seed gift wrapped for them with a win over the raiders. Meanwhile Ravens can't win their division but can win HFA with a coin flip. Its just a inconsistent ***** show. I surely hope these are all just ideas in the press release and they release something more thorough and consistent tomorrow.
-
Thats in the release? Why a coin flip for the Bengals/Ravens but KC gets bye (rightfully I guess by win %) but neutral site for AFCCG if both make it? I sure hope they write up a more consistent and well thought out set of conditions tomorrow that applies to all teams, not AFCCG gets this treatment and AFC North division gets this other treatment nonsense. Still wish the game would have been rescheduled instead. Would be so much more fair and easy.

Playoff Solutions Assuming they don’t replay the Bengals game.

The unequal number of games part contradicts the full 17-game regular season part. Id say the former takes precedence but the NFL is fudging this up royally. -
of course but I am referring to if the Chiefs win and the Bills win. Then Chiefs still get the bye week (win percentage) but AFCCG is played at neutral site? So we get special consideration why? Chiefs have the better win percentage in that scenario, they should get both. This picking and choosing the advantages of being #1 seed is just ridiculous. Just make the Bengals/Bills game up. Kick the playoffs a week back and move the pro bowl to week after Super Bowl.

It was a decision by both teams to stop playing. Bengals players were also affected. That said, I agree, I don't want any special consideration, I just want the game to be played. It is silly to me that we may change all the rules and split advantages for being the 1st seed solely because we can't just make up this game. I do think if we did win it all with help from a split advantage like home field advantage then there will be quite a bit of trolling about the Bills having to have that advantage to beat the Chiefs. Its not a huge deal but it will be annoying. Really dislike this idea per the above. I will surely be pissed if we get knocked out in wildcard when we surely could have claimed the #1 seed legitimately. Its just silly. This is an advantage rightly earned by one team or the other. Just replay the damn bengals bills game. -

Why wouldn't they get both? -

Am I missing something? Isn't winning percentage for a 14/17 (.8235) team slightly better than a winning percentage of a 13/16 (.8125)? -

If the Bengals beat the Bills, and the Chiefs beat the Broncos then the Chiefs don't play until Jan 29th. I don't have a problem with that but some people do. I think it could actually be a handicap to them. -

Not a bad idea but that potentially gives the chiefs the 2 week bye that everyone is complaining about. Unless we have strength of victory tie breaker? Then it still gives Chiefs a bye week before wild card weekend which everyone is up in arms about. Edit: Oh that also potentially leaves the AFC North division winner undecided. -

Last year the Bengals rested their starters to get 4th seed instead of 3rd seed and effectively avoided the Chiefs until the AFCCG. No such luck for them this year unless they get #1 seed, so they will look to get homefield advantage. I looked at this a little while ago and 2020 we played the Dolphins with our starters and obliterated them for the 1st half. We were contesting with the Steelers for 2nd/3rd seed. Last year we played our starters against the Jets because the Chiefs played Denver and if they lost and we won we'd have had the 2nd seed. Denver almost beat them if it wasn't for a Melvin Gordon fumble if i remember correctly. -

Yes, its fair. The Ravens have to play a rested Bengals team this week for their division? If the most harm done is an extra bye week for some teams, then this is a good solution. The only other solution that doesn't have a "it's not fair" caveat is making Buffalo and Cinci play 2 games in the next 6 days which wait for it....isn't fair. Affecting bye weeks is the least problematic option. -

As opposed to eliminating teams from the playoffs or ceding the Chiefs the #1 seed by default? Who cares. Sometimes too much time off is a disadvantage. It is the least bad solution. I don't know why people are getting pissy about bye weeks but ceding the bye week to the Chiefs... -

Yes you may have caught McDaniels praising the team for taking it out to focus more on the game, but it was actually gone because Tyreek Hill was getting them a better custom Dolphins one 😂 -
Week 18: Pats at Bills, Sunday 1/8 1pm

No one is speaking definitively about the teams outcomes but you though. So while people respond to you disagreeing that isn't the same as your prognostications that we would lose badly. You just don't know. We started out very poorly against the Ravens too. We were blowing out the Vikings late 3rd quarter. Anything can happen in an NFL game. -

To their credit, the Ravens fans on their forum are relatively calm about this possibility. Not sure if they would be different if Lamar was playing this weekend or if they happen to pull off the upset against the Bengals. -

Its not that big of deal but shaft a team that has nothing to do with this from 1) a chance to win their division and 2) home field advantage for the playoffs. Sure not that big of a deal haha. In the mean time a team getting an extra week of rest before playing a playoff game is off limits because it is such a big deal. I mean....come on. We are going in circles. The NFL doesn't actually lose a ton moving wildcard weekend games back a week. The rest of the playoffs (besides SB which wouldn't be moved) no one has any idea where they would be played so how much planning could they have done? Screw wild card weekend plans and do this right instead of makeshift altering seeding rules and drawing numbers. -

If that is a large issue then swap the bengals vs bills and week 18 games. Bengals play Bills this weekend and week 18 games move to next week. I don't think an extra week is that big of a deal as far as disadvantages go. No bigger of a deal than awarding a bye week with a competitive advantage based on a random number generator or a sudden change in the seeding rules.
