  1. I posted the below in the other thread but after reading the rule, this appears to be the only reasonable solution that doesn't have the Bills playing 2 games in the next 6 days. 1-8-23 - Week 18 - Play normally 1-15-23 - Formerly Wildcard Weekend - Instead its just Bills vs Bengals 1-22-23 - Formerly Divisional Weekend - Instead it is Wildcard Weekend 1-29-23 - Formerly Conference Championships - Instead its Divisional Weekend 2-5-23 - Formerly Bye Week for SB Participants (Pro Bowl stuff) - Instead Conference Championships 2-12-23 - Super Bowl - Play normally Sure some plane and hotel reservations will get messed up but at most for what? Just Wildcard weekend? Playing field for Divisional round can only possibly be known for 1st seeds which is up in the air for both conferences anyway so that is the risk you take. Super Bowl remains the same. I just don't see how they don't replay this game but then the Bills happen to play the Bengals in the playoffs 2 weeks later maybe? And that they can do? Doesn't make sense. To summarize this method messes up some plane and hotel reservations but is fair for all involved teams. Its the only solution.
  2. I've thought about it and this is my solution: 1-8-23 - Week 18 - Play normally 1-15-23 - Formerly Wildcard Weekend - Instead its just Bills vs Bengals 1-22-23 - Formerly Divisional Weekend - Instead it is Wildcard Weekend 1-29-23 - Formerly Conference Championships - Instead its Divisional Weekend 2-5-23 - Formerly Bye Week for SB Participants (Pro Bowl stuff) - Instead Conference Championships 2-12-23 - Super Bowl - Play normally Sure some plane and hotel reservations will get messed up but at most for what? 3. How is it about the bills wanting to continue and not the bengals wanting to continue? It was a mutual decision. The only reason the Bills team should accept a forfeit is if the players do not want to play the game from that moment.
  4. Why are you so sure the Bengals players wanted to continue? Edit: To add if they didn't want to continue then how do you punish the Bills by not allowing them a chance to come back from a measly 4 pt deficit.
  5. Yeah they are starting to get over the "we are all one team" mentality and moving to "hey if both the bengals and bills didn't want to play then they both lose" mentality in record time.
  6. If thats the case and a win is impossible then I'd imagine the Bills would rather take the forfeit than no game played as it gives them the highest probability to still get the 1st seed.
  7. Maybe I am misunderstanding your conversation but there is still a path to #1 seed even with a loss to Cinci. Bills lose against Cinci then: Week 18: Bills win, KC loss, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 1st seed Bills win, KC wins, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 2nd seed Bills win, KC loss, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 2nd seed Bills win, KC wins, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC loss, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC wins, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC loss, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC win, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 3rd seed
  8. I am not sure it was Schefter but I remember hearing someone say that and thinking the same but the qualifier was "and given CPR". Maybe that was the piece that was never seen before.
  9. I mean this is game day thread level prognostication and losing mentality. You have 0 idea if the team wins or loses last night. None.
  10. Pats game matters to the Dolphins, Steelers, Pats, and technically Jaguars still though. All are looking at playoff implications with the result of our game against the Pats.
  11. The Bills didn't forfeit, and the game was postponed, and there doesn't appear to be precedent or a rule for this. The NFL will be making up its own ruling for what happens next and for that we will speculate.
  12. Why is it so hard for people to believe the broadcast team asked officials what happens next and officials on the field quoted SOP and didn't say "we don't know, its up to the league"?
  13. My brother is in a championship game right now in this scenario! He has Allen and Bass and he is playing against Burrow and is losing 97 to 90.7 when play stopped. That said I don't think the NFL cares about Fantasy that much.
  14. Agree but we all know they should bump it to presidents day weekend anyway! Just start now
  15. I think this would be the play if a whole week of games were canceled but I dont see them affecting the trajectory of the playoffs that much because one game wasn't played. Can someone explain why the Bengals and Bills only have 16 games played presents such a problem?
  16. You are right, but I wasn't saying both teams losing would give us 2nd seed. I was saying we arent locked into 3rd seed and gave an example of how we can get 2nd seed. Even 1st seed would still be possible but improbable that both Cinci and KC lose. Bills lose against Cinci then: Week 18: Bills win, KC loss, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 1st seed Bills win, KC wins, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 2nd seed Bills win, KC loss, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 2nd seed Bills win, KC wins, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC loss, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC wins, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC loss, Cinci wins, Bills clinch 3rd seed Bills loss, KC win, Cinci loss, Bills clinch 3rd seed
  17. The key is what happened when Dane Jackson was taken by ambulance? I am guessing a 5 minute warm up period before play resumed. My bet is either the officials enacted the preexisting protocol, or someone in the broadcast booth threw it out there as what will happen.
  18. True and maybe they need to be criticized for that aspect of being so out of touch with the seriousness of the situation and its effect on players. I still believe the 5 minute thing was prexisting protocol for extended injury situations and not the NFL saying "ok he's gone, you've got say....5 minutes to get back on the field" But even then I don't think the NFL listening to player/coach feedback and then reversing course on a decision is a bad thing either.
  19. No, a KC loss or a Cinci loss next week would give them 2 seed. Edit: with a Bills win over the Pats of course. A Loss to the pats guarantees 3rd seed.
  20. I think people are slightly concerned its an enormous amount of money that may go to a cause that doesn't need an enormous amount of money and that if Hamlin were able to direct it to something else, he might. But as you say, it will surely be put to good use.
  21. I think people want someone to blame in today's society but the time between the ambulance leaving and the NFL postponing the game was like 30 minutes. A lot can change in mere minutes when facts are conveyed and then reconveyed to get people to understand the severity. I've been on my share of conference calls diagnosing critical issues where that's been the case. Maybe the NFL should have understood quicker and maybe they did make a mistake but maybe people should stop blaming and maybe think the NFL enacted preexisting protocol and then when players pushed back and reconveyed the facts, they said "oh ok, yeah that makes sense". It happens all the time.
  22. If it eases your concern, there is precedent for large influxes like this to then be handled properly in new ways while still being committed to the core purpose. It isn't all going to just be dumped on Kelly and Nina's Daycare Center to buy millions of dollars in toys for kids.
  23. Should this be another thread maybe if people want to discuss it?
  24. Agree but certainly not decided until more is known about his condition. So rather than stay in limbo, it would make sense for the Bills players to go home.
  25. I don't think anything will be decided until Hamlin's condition is known so its all kind of up in the air. I don't think the NFL even knows.
