Dude I’m just trying to not lose by double digits at this point. This is how fans get disappointed. Stick to the preseason mentality of 8-8 is a success with a rookie QB.
The fact of the matter is that if he lights it up this weekend, everyone who supported him starts a thread that says "where all my josh allen haters at now!" and the josh allen haters say it's a fluke. And then when Allen sucks the next week, the haters start threads that say "where all my josh allen supporter at now!" and the josh allen lovers say it was the o-lines fault. no one wins.
He’s not completely wrong, but what he’s listing as Allen’s shortcomings (reading defenses and getting off bad routes) is completely coachable.
“I don’t think you can just hand someone a job two years in a row if they’re not earning the right to play.”
We’re talking about the Bills, right?
Did he say, i'm here to compete for the starting job of this 2-3 team and take it away from Josh Allen who I'm supposed to mentor. And then, when I win the starting role, I'm going to nominate Nathan Peterman as the starting QB and tank the entire season?
Playoffs are always a possibility. In Brady's rookie season (where they won the super bowl), he was 2-3 (having not played the opener) at this point with two TDs, 8 sacks and two lost fumbles. He had an 86-yard game vs. Miami. He also threw for 354 yards on 54 attempts vs SD! Rookies look like this. Hopefully it all starts to click for Josh.
I'd also like to point out that Brady had 7 games (including the Super Bowl) under 200 yards passing and two others that were at 203 and 202.
We have 60 points in the four games Allen started. We'll be fine.
Also, the running game is slowly picking up now that we're not passing the ball 2x more than running.
Allen is 2-0 when we keep his attempts below 25.
"possibly worse in franchise history"
I'd like to introduce you to the 1976 (245 points, 10 game losing streak), 1977 (3-11, 160 points), 1984 (gave up 60 sacks, 250 points) and 1985 Buffalo Bills (200 points, the lowest in the 1980s!).
If you tell me Anderson takes us the playoffs, then i still want to go. because it's the playoffs and it's the Bills making it there. what are we even doing with a team if we don't want them to succeed? this is A+ stockholm syndrome
Uh, no. he's not losing his starting job to a 35 year old they're bringing in to mentor. The "win now" makes no sense. We're not signing Brady. It's Derek Anderson. He's a mentor and a safety valve if something goes wrong. Buffalo media is making a deal out of this because they have articles to write and air time to fill and it's Weds.
Your first 4 don't matter. We don't need him to actually play football (hopefully). Just a mentor. He's basically another coach, and if he had to actually go in, he'd be serviceable. But, again, Josh seems durable (like Cam), and just needs a sounding board. you can't come off the field after a tough drive and get input from nathan (0.0 rating) peterman.
Why is he a very short term answer? If Josh Allen is our guy, keep DA as a mentor for as long as he's needed. He loved mentoring Cam. This can be the same situation. I wouldn't mind if he hung around for a year or two.
Well, a lot of people (including myself) thought we could've started 0-5 to 0-7. So, 2-3 is pretty surprising. I think we could be competitive this year and, most importantly, GROW. I don't want to strip the team of its captain and only offensive force. That will demoralize everyone. It's not worth the 2nd or 3rd.
