  1. "We're not drinking any f#@k!ng Merlot!" ("Sideways") Happy Birthday, Mead!
  2. Saints/Rams and Colts/Titans are two of my local games. Nothing like watching a couple of winless teams attempt to extend their streaks!
  3. I tried the Fried Kool Aid at my State Fair in August. Color me unimpressed: it was six spheres of dough that was rolled in Cherry Kool Aid powder and deep fried, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Too much Cherry flavor for me and bland-tasting on the outside.
  4. Turns out Jerome Harrison was diagnosed with a brain tumor during his Philly physical: @AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Without trade, Jerome Harrison doesn't get physical. Without physical, doctors don't find brain tumor. Trade might have saved his life.
  5. Has anyone seen the documentary, "Six Days to Air: The Making of South Park"? It aired this week on Comedy Central and shows how much stress these guys put on themselves. They try to wedge in the main plot and sub-plot in the 20+ minutes they have of programming. It shows how difficult it is to cut scenes and add scenes to make the show work. Really a good doc on Matt/Trey and the group who works insane hours to generate an episode from scratch every week during the season. The staff goes through a lot to make the shows relevant instead of putting them in a can a few months ahead of time.
  6. Just a small correction in your article, the Wild Card game @ Tennessee was dubbed the "Music City Miracle". The Motor City is a nickname for Detroit.
  7. I used to cover Lloyd's games when he played at the University of Illinois. He was perceived as a diva, me-first type of guy who had tons of talent but couldn't put it all together. He was a key member of the Illini team that won the Big Ten in '01and played LSU (Josh Reed) in the Sugar Bowl in January 2002. The 2002 season had high hopes for Illinois but they underachieved and missed bowl eligibility. Lloyd's underachieving and locker room attitude was a part of the problem. Maybe Lloyd has turned a new leaf and is a terrific teammate now in Denver? However, I remain skeptical and worry he would impact the team chemistry in Buffalo. Maybe Lloyd comes in and helps this team to reach Indy this year and he'll erase my doubts.
  8. I can't begin to tell you my excitement of having the Colts-Bengals game on my local CBS. That's because I am far from excited. I guess it's another week of watching the Bills online!
  9. I just bought a ticket to Game Five of the NLCS. Brewers-Cardinals is gonna be a fun series I think. These teams are not fond of each other, so someone is going to be torqued that they lost to the other team for a right to the World Series.
  10. Stuck with NO/Carolina on locally, ugh. I hope they change their minds and go with the better game.
  11. The clinical diagnosis for that video is called Verbal Diarrhea.
  12. If we're talking roasts we might as well get Chef Jim involved. That's the only way a roast will be done right- and deliciously!
  13. Shiver me timbers! Ye be lucky I don't make ye swab the Poop Deck! ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
  14. I'm going to leave it to KGB to have the final say on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jUBbCgMWmE
  15. My local CBS is showing Cleveland/Indy. Without Peyton Manning that game is less appealing, as if it was slightly appealing at all. (ugh) As Brick Tamaland would say, "I love Lamp!" (he also loved table but what do you expect from a guy who killed another man with a trident?
  16. If they're going to place of the 80's-era backs on the Wall I would rather see Joe Cribbs go up before Greg Bell. Joe was the offensive star of those Chuck Knox-led teams, IMO. Joe's stats. Greg's stats.
  17. I've been to several Cup races (Chicagoland) and one Nationwide race (Gateway, outside St. Louis) while I was a photographer in TV news. It was pretty cool to be around/interview some of the guys I watched on TV: Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is your Pit Pass a Hot Pass or Cold Pass? Hot Passes allow you into the garage while practice/racing is happening; keep your head on a swivel if you're in the garage during Hot segments, as the cars just fly in and out during practice. Kyle Busch almost clipped me during Brickyard 400 practice when he was still at Hendrick a few years ago (my fault, not his). It's not as exciting to be in the garage during the race since most cars are on the track. My guess is you have a Cold Pass, as you have tickets for VIP to watch the race from a suite. When you go to the Garage, be sure to stop by the trailers for some of the drivers. They usually have driver cards (about the size of a regular sheet of paper) and you can get the drivers to sign them- although some people abuse this and grab a whole bunch to be signed and place them on eBay. Also, most drivers have a merchandise trailer outside the track. I know Tony Stewart (my favorite driver) is selling special merchandise (shirts, die-casts) that compliment his paint scheme this weekend that pays tribute to 9/11. In fact, many of the cars will have special paint schemes Saturday night, so they may have some merchandise at the trailers that show off their schemes. When Talladega Nights came out they had a merchandise trailer for the movie at Chicagoland (they also had a press conference in the Media Center with the stars of the movie: Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Leslie Bibb, Michael Clarke Duncan) and I bought a Ricky Bobby Wonder Bread Racing t-shirt. Hope you have fun Saturday night! It's going to be wild with so many drivers still fighting to make the Chase for the Cup; Richmond is the last race before the Chase begins at Chicagoland next week, so the pressure is on for many teams.
  18. Make sure you friend the Jill Kelly married to Jim. There is an "actress" named Jill Kelly out in the world, too. She probably has another type of hand warmer than you're looking for.
  19. Indeed, great pics. And the uniforms look terrific, including the all-whites. I would still like to see the blue pants with the white jerseys, but I'm growing fond of the white/white. Nice job by the Bills! EDIT: If you look at Fitzy in that pic, the shadows make the appearance of glasses/goggles around the Amish Rifle's eyes.
  20. Big Mike just posted on Twitter about being at practice today. I suggested he update his profile pic (his old college one) and linked back to your picture of him from Saturday.
  21. Probably the shadows from his facemask. I like this one, but it appears Mike Carey almost screwed up this as well.
  22. When you saw the man whose jersey you were wearing was running to you, you thought of Bo Derek in 10, didn't you? BE HONEST. (Seriously, congrats!)
