  1. d wag, Alaska is absolutley right about TD and the Steelers. It was widely known that it was the ownership, not GM and Player personnell who was unwilling to pay top dollar to retain players, so they merely relied on TD's abilities to consistently find talent to replace the guys that were leaving. I (unfortunately) have all too many friends who are diehard Steeler fans and they would attest to this. Most of them also comment from time to time about how they hated to see TD go. The reason he isn't still in Pitt is because of of one man, Bill Cowher. Their power struggle over Kordell Stewart (Cowher supported him, TD did not) was the beginning of the end for TD in Pitt.
  2. They agreement would be in place with PS's agent before the trade actually went down (these things don't just come up as afterthoughts). We just re-signed AS and he had an even more complete year than his previous 2 (yes even though he had 2 less sacks). He dominated Orlando Pace and Jonathan Ogden, remember? Taylor is great but this would just not work because AS's signing bonus hits us for the next 5 years.
  3. as long as it's not the "just give it to 'em" guy
  4. Why is that? (I'm being serious) ....
  5. I like the plan and agree with you that it may hurt the plans to resign PW and JJ. Although if both EM AND DB restructure, technically we would have the $ for all of this (depending on the cost of the upgraded guard which I agree we need).
  6. If I may step in, I see where you're going with this and it is a valid point, but I think think teams should be very careful when trying to use the Pats as a model. I don't think it's as cookie cutter as people think it is. They have a once in a generation coach, a group of players that consistently overachieve week in and week out and play for less than market value, and a QB with a "6th sense" for playing the game. Traditionally (actually all other cases) , great teams also have healthy portions of really good players...
  7. While at the depressing Pittsburgh season finale this season, I figured out that it was my 75th time attending the Ralph/Rich stadium for a Bills game. The impressive (or strange) part of this for me was that none of those visits have been made as a season ticket holder I was not fortunate to have ever attended the Rockpile though....
  8. Yes In order to trade for a guy with a year left on his contract, he will have to reneg a new contract with the new team. This applies to both Henry and Surtain in this hypothetical circumstance, as Henry will obviously make more than the beans he makes now and Surtain would have to take a pay cut and be extended. I may be foolish to think we could "work out" having that much salary in the seconday (depends in the market value of Surtain at 28 and Clements hopefully resigning before his contract expires), that remains to be seen. But when I think about Value, you gotta make the move with TH for PS... That's what I was getting at.
  9. As stated, Willis IS a fine receiver out of the backfield and showed it time and time again in college. He really needs to be the guy on all downs to put defenses in a position of weakness. I've had enough of the tell-tale "packages" that we've used...
  10. I probably should have been more clear on that... I agreed with him in the sense that Clements deserves to get paid after steadily improving his skills in his tenure here, and that we should not be afraid to pay him what he's worth ( not overpay ofcourse) because successful teams have continuity and take care of their own upper level players (besides the Pats) when the opportunity comes...
  11. I must agree with you on this wholeheartedly d_wag. Also , as mentioned, many of the bonus $ will still be paid by Miami.... If this really turns into "Henry for Surtain" I'd do it in a heartbeat. I tend to think of it less on a position of need basis and more on a "Value for Value" basis.
  12. It was a patch for the PC version and the fatigue still works Stupid PS2 lol
  13. That glitch was fixed in a patch long ago....
  14. Good thread Bill.... I like the idea of seeing how TT would fare at tackle , and that's probably something they would look at if Jonas left. My hope though is that Jonas stays and we keep continuity at Center with TT. I definitely agree that LG needs an upgrade badly, either way. I'm definitely not on board with the idea of Amos Z as a backup RB... He is merely a scat back/ third down type who's recent stats are entirely misleading due to lots of runs on third and long. etc. He has zero abilty to break tackles as well.
  15. I see more and more people have figured out the unfortunate reason we lost that game Just think, we may then have had the confidence to win atleast one (maybe two but probably not ) of the other SuperBowls.
  16. Don't forget to mention that the Bills (even with the hike) have the lowest average ticket price in the league.
  17. Thanks! Good Find. (listening right now)
  18. It may have helped if (probable MVP) Thurman was given more than 15 carries
  19. Hell, I'd have to think long and hard about trading even a guy like Marcus Price for Moss, let alone Moulds and another player....
  20. Well I can check trimming my nails off the list after that game
  21. Exactly... reference : Kurt Warner
  22. Firefox 0.9.1 ... looks fine
  23. Because he doesn't want to be here: True he isn't trying anymore: No evidence of that he is a lockerroom cancer: Never has shown even the smallest inkling of this being true to protect your teenage daughters: Obsessed are we? No less than a late third IMO...
  24. Some people's pipe dreams are other people's nightmares. It's kinda like the old garbage/treasure analogy ....
