  1. All due respect, but 4-5 QBs picked in the top ten says more about teams desperate for QBs than it says about the ability of the prospects available to meet those needs. This isn’t a very strong QB class, but that’s the case in most years. My opinion may change after the Senior Bowl when I get my first peak at a few compiled reports from a few guys around the league, but I don’t expect it to, at least for the top prospects.
  2. This trait in any player, but especially a QB, cannot be overstated. It is essential for a QB to put the last play behind him, good or bad. We tend to just take it for granted, but there have been many QBs who couldn't recover from bad days. Peterman leaves much to be desired at this point, but mental toughness doesn't appear to be one of them.
  3. Agreed. I went from having all the respect in the world for him as a player and competitor to having absolutely none. Zip. He is a disgrace to the game.
  4. Tom Janik says hi. I was a gopher in the press box at the time. All of nine years old and lovin life.
  5. Good points, all. I'd have no problem trading Reinhart. He is not a top 6 NHL center and I think his attitude sucks as evidenced by his lapses in effort. And now that I've dissed him in this forum, I look for Samson to have a four point night vs. the Blackhawks on Friday.
  6. Compared to the last two classes, yeah, I don't think it's as strong and those two classes had a ton of question marks as it was. I think Rosen is the only legit top 10 prospect at the moment. That said, if the Browns are convinced that a QB is worth it, and they feel they have the right environment for a rookie QB to come into, then they should go ahead and get their guy and be done with it. I just think there are far better prospects at other positions vs. the QB crop. You're spot on with regard to the idea that all prospects have warts. I think Cleveland would be better served by continuing to collect blue chip talent at the top of the draft in favor of better prospects at other positions without the those question marks. Screwing the pooch on a QB is different than screwing the pooch on any other position it seems. I don't think that's fair, but it's held to a different level of scrutiny.
  7. Yep. And now, under the pressure of that scrutiny, they will force themselves to take a lesser prospect in a far weaker QB draft. They should resist the temptation and take a blue chip talent at another position early or trade down.
  8. I agree. High character move by a coach most likely fed up with babysitting a head case like Peters. I hope Housley borrows a page from Reid's book and sits a couple of his whiney star players who couldn't look any more disinterested if they tried (last night's Avs game notwithstanding).
  9. Unfortunately, GMTM spent a lot of time and assets on acquiring the big (and slower) players he prefers to play a "heavy" game, like the Kings, for instance who won a couple of cups with that style. Speed kills. Especially when you have it on four lines and you can wear down opponents with your skating. We have those types in the pipeline, so it won't be long before we can roll four. I'm more concerned about our back end.
  10. Attempting, yes (TT doesn't even attempt certain passes most of the time). But I don't confuse Fitz's ability to attempt throws with an ability to make them. You simply cannot triple hitch a long out like he did on a pick to Revis like he did vs. the Jest or blow up your timing routes because you have to wind up from your hip to get enough zip on the ball.
  11. Fixing a team is never a linear process. If there's a blue chip QB available vs. a blue chip OLman, take the QB if you don't already have one. If it's a choice between a blue chip OLman and an average QB, take the OLman. This team needs great players, regardless of position. Playmaker is ALWAYS a position of need.
  12. This metric kinds of speaks for itself. But even TT's catchable passes leave a lot to be desired most of the time. His ball placement is among the worst I've ever seen for a starting QB in this league. Completion percentage doesn't equal accuracy and TT is a prime example.
  13. Just lost all respect for Gronkowski as a competitor. That was a suspension worthy cheap shot.
  14. Peter,an has thrown four passes the Taylor won’t even attempt.
  15. Romo has also pointed out that TT gives up on his progressions and misses open guys, too.
  16. Ah yes, the numbers argument. By that measure, practically every receiver and QB in the era of liberalized passing rules may be considered better than anyone that played before. It is intellectually lazy to compare players across eras. The players I mentioned dominated their competition in their respective eras just as Gronk does against his opponents today. It’s a bit more nuanced than gross stats. I take nothing away from Gronk as he is certainly up there and will be a first ballot HOFer, just as those guys were. But like I said, if Gronk does it for you, great.
  17. Serious as a heart attack. Those players were every bit as dominant in their eras as Gronk. Best of all time arguments are moot at best.
  18. I find these debates futile, but if Gronk does it for you, fine.
  19. He has a seat at the table for sure, but Ditka, Mackey, Winslow, and Gonzales are already seated.
