  1. What, no Matty Mo? How will we ever keep up with their 4th line skaters now?
  2. Likewise. Especially on the sophistry front. But like Carucci, I understand your need to diminish Peterman's performance in order to satisfy your preconceived notion. Bottom line is, Peterman did what he had to do when he had to do it. It's not his responsibility to apologize for or explain what defenses the Saints were playing. On the prevent; tey were rushing four every down and sent six on two of them. No double safeties deep. There's a difference between playing prevent and keeping things in front of you. A prevent defense is just that; a defense designed to stop an offense from scoring quickly on anything deep. And even though it was loose zone coverage, that field gets awfully tight inside the red zone and it becomes a moot point.
  3. 6 in 9, huh? There's one thing worse than watching a low-talent hockey team and that's watching a tired, low-talent hockey team.
  4. When a professional football player lets up in his effort he opens himself up to injury by opposing players still playing all out. Coaches have been saying that for decades, too. And at all levels. But I don't care to debate that minutia. Point is, Carucci was flat out wrong when he said the Saints were playing a prevent defense. He should figure out what that is before he seeks to diminish a player simply to satisfy his narrative. I think he owes that to his consumers.
  5. Except that Vic flatly stated they were in prevent defense when they didn't play one snap of prevent. And for a defense that was seeking to simply avoid injury (and I don't buy that because that can be dangerous) they didn't slow down in rushing the passer and even sent 6 at us on two occasions. The need to downplay Peterman's play, regardless of the situation and to stretch the truth in doing so, in order to satisfy a predetermined narrative was all that Carucci was doing. I have no respect for that. And I don't buy his theory that they benched TT because they will have a PR nightmare by letting go of the first QB to lead us to he playoffs in 17 years. They benched him because they don't feel he is going to get us there. And while it's a better than even chance that Peterman won't be that guy either, I can't fault them for taking the chance to find out. Vic and Skurski simply trotted out a specious line of thought to satisfy their narrative.
  6. Great point. That's why I love Aaron Rodgers so much. I mean the guy actually practices those kinds of throws.
  7. Yes, but not much, really. Here's the thing, if a QB can't make that throw, nothing else will matter to scouts when it comes to grading his arm strength. It's the one throw they key on more than any other in personal workouts. For obvious reasons. If it doesn't have the preferable velocity to get there on time, then they have to be satisfied that his other mechanics (release, lower body, etc.) can compensate. The long out is a critical throw for offenses to complete in critical game situations as well as to set up other things later on but it's too risky when not delivered on time.
  8. Can he make the long out from the far hash on time out of a 5 step drop without a hitch? That's all you need to know about arm strength. Period.
  9. Philly's Gudas needs to be suspended for the rest of the season after this. Or is the NHL going to be all lip service as usual?
  10. Then again, we once elected a president who played the best friend to a chimp in the movies, so there's that.
  11. Like I said in another thread, I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. Vic and Skurski literally didn't know what they were talking about in terms of football knowledge and insight. Vic threw shade on Peterman because he looked good facing NO's prevent defense when the Saints didn't play one down of prevent defense the entire time Peterman was in there. That's just one example. They have little credibility.
  12. Couldn't listen to more than 10 minutes of that podcast. Carucci's and Skurski's lack of football insight is staggering. It often comes across in their writing, but when they articulate that lack of insight? It's torturous.
  13. Vic needs to be able to identify what a prevent defense is. The Saints weren't playing a prevent defense the entire time Peterman was in the game.
  14. I'll go ahead and say it: McVay is the offensive equivalent of Belichick. Like Belichick, he grew up with the game and learned from some of the best minds in history as a kid. Wish we could have interviewed him.
  15. Yes, with Cardale Jones and Nathan Peterman as our QBs.
  16. He's dropping back and only looking at Clay because his field vision is poor. There have been countless examples of this since TT came here. I agree that Dennison's play calls and designs can be head scratchers at times, but on that particular play it was obvious that there were other options and TT just never scanned them while he was dropping back. That goes to pre-snap recognition as well. It is the QB's job to know where every receiver should be and where coverage is based on those pre and post snap reads. TT is just not very good at that much of the time.
  17. Two things: I'd like to see him doing those shots with Bosa breathing down his neck. And, when he introduced his wife Morgan, I'm glad the trick wasn't called 'The Money Shot.'
  18. It was a straight drop back until TT bailed. That wasn't a rollout at all. The issue was TT's lack of vision or impatience to read what the defense did post snap.
  19. But it really doesn't matter what the play call was; I'm sure the primary was who he ended up going to on the left side. But coverage evolves after the snap and, regardless of the call and who the primary was, EVERY play has other options available depending on what the QB reads. TT needs to know what every option is depending on what he sees develop. But you have to look in order to see it. TT never did on that play and it's a problem he has had since he's been here. Absolutely.
  20. TT never even glanced his way. Again confirming that he doesn't read very well. That is an insult to Tyrod Taylor.
  21. Old rule of thumb was 1,000 snaps before you decided what kind of QB you really had. I think that may be a luxury in this day and age. Which is regrettable because so many QBs enter the league after seeing the same defenses in college game after game. The more rapid success of young QBs lately gives me hope, though. In the right circumstance, with the right coaching and supporting cast, a young QB can make a mark much sooner than before.
  22. Our OLine is poor at screen execution, IMO. Been like that for a few years now.
