  1. I think “actual work time” for football players spans from the open kickoff to the final gun. I suppose you can include pregame warmups to be “actual work” as well. If players have permission from their teams to kneel if they want to, how are they shirking their work responsibilities, anyway? The 49ers, for instance gave CK, Reid, and others express permission to kneel in 2016.
  2. I appreciate this and agree, but I’m still trying to get to the “why.” Human nature is one important variable to be sure but what’s at the root of that evolution? There are tribal elements involved but it goes farther than that, I think. Anyway, I appreciate the incite you offered.
  3. Perhaps, but that doesn’t answer why we refuse to accept the explanations offered by those who choose to take a knee. They’ve explained time and time again why, but people have this obsession to make it about something else entirely. I’m curious about that mentality, not the protest itself.
  4. Why is it that some people just can’t accept everyone’s explanation for why they are taking a knee? Clearly no disrespect is intended yet some people are intent on being offended. Why the insistence, the need, to make it about something it isn’t? It’s a lot more than, “It’s my flag, it’s my country, it’s my military.” Some sort of psychological phenomenon is at play here.
  5. Awful but lawful. If Mr. Gugino were under 65, I don’t think the officers would have been charged as the DA specifically mentioned that age related NY statute.
  6. And I can’t help but wonder that had they intervened, not only would George Floyd be alive today, their intervention would be viewed as a heroic act and much deserved needed praise would have been heaped upon police around the entire country. What could have been.
  7. There is no second wave. The first wave never ended; just brought under control in the hottest spots and that made our improvement stats look really good for a while.
  8. Seems the people in VA are doing it themselves. Here’s an AP article describing it. https://apnews.com/8404006d3106a82f15adea12e5c27147
  9. Outstanding post! Per the bold, this is a GREAT point you bring up and I’m not surprised that people behave differently when they know they are being recorded. Is it SOP to let citizens know their interaction with police is being recorded? Not that it would make any difference in a tense situation where situations change in milliseconds, but for routine pull overs, etc., I think it would help. Might even let a defensive person feel more at ease if he knows that cop whose writing him up is being recorded as well. Just a though.
  10. He may suck, but given the state of things currently, his words in that song are more important than ever.
  11. Short people got no reason Short people got no reason Short people got no reason To live They got little hands And little eyes And they walk around Tellin' great big lies They got little noses And tiny little teeth They wear platform shoes On their nasty little feet Well, I don't want no short people Don't want no short people Don't want no short people 'Round here Short people are just the same As you and I (A fool such as I) All men are brothers Until the day they die (It's a wonderful world) Short people got nobody Short people got nobody Short people got nobody To love They got little baby legs And they stand so low You got to pick 'em up Just to say hello They got little cars That got beep, beep, beep They got little voices Goin' peep, peep, peep They got grubby little fingers And dirty little minds They're gonna get you every time Well, I don't want no short people Don't want no short people Don't want no short people 'Round here
  12. Turning your back on traffic violations is one thing, deciding to sit out while felonies are in progress is quite another and that’s why your post alarmed me. It sounded like cops might to decide to say, “Ok, you want to insult and degrade the work I do as a cop, see how you like it when I refuse to do it.” I appreciate the clarification.
  13. This is an alarming statement. Have you witnessed this in your career? Is it a common practice in your opinion? Cops deciding they’ve been disrespected so they decided not to do their jobs? Just to teach us a lesson? The entire situation sucks, alright. For all of us. Especially for those good, honest cops.
  14. I think that’s Michael Burry.
  15. Best to start making the funeral arrangements sooner than later. He’s on life support with no discernible brain function.
  16. What convinces me he’s genuine is that everybody whose paths he’s crossed in his career, from players to coaches to owners to arena maintenance personnel have nothing but great things to say about him. I’ve yet to see one dissenting voice. Hell, even those people he had beers with on Chippewa when he did his undercover research on Buffalo before he decided to take the job here had nothing but great things to say. It’s hard to bs that many people over that many years over that many different locations around the world, imo. I get your concerns about inexperience, but I see it as less of an experiment. And for all I know, Krueger may have zero interest anyway. He just strikes me as capable and up to the task.
  17. Nobody has done the job in the NHL before they did the job in the NHL. Or in any pro sport for that matter. And being a good salesman is a good thing when it comes to running an organization and implementing a vision. Are you suggesting Krueger isn’t genuine?
  18. I agree. They’ve got the right coach in Krueger and I can see him taking over for Botts after next season. I think Krueger is an architect, Botts is more of a general contractor.
  19. That it would. I think the dems should borrow a page from trump’s 2016 debate strategy when they brought a bunch of Bill Clinton’s accusers to sit near the stage to rattle Hillary. The dems should sit Stormy Daniels in the front row, dressed in the skimpiest of clothing; stockings, nine inch heels, no panties; the works. And every time trump is about to give an answer, she crosses and uncrosses her legs a la Sharon Stone in ‘Basic Instinct.’
  20. All the generals you listed are not military, they are retired military; civilians. If they were still active military, they would all have been precluded from endorsing a candidate or criticizing. It is against military regulations to do so.
  21. It’s getting old. You’re convincing people you’re a Russia bot at this point.
  22. Well, the game was in Seattle and there’s plenty of Seattle garb in that pic. Definitely a Marshawn Lynch fan in the Bills Jersey.
  23. I don’t know about those pavers. Maybe protestors stole them and planted them and wanted to use them as weapons. Did you report the suspicious two bricks to the police? Were they still there after the protest? I don’t ask that facetiously. Given the fact that right wing groups have been caught setting up fake Antifa accounts on social media to cause chaos, maybe it was one of those that put those bricks there. I honestly don’t know. I DO know that the greatest investigative body in the world has been tasked with finding evidence that Antifa is behind the violence at some of these protests and they haven’t yet. Perhaps they will and if they do then I hope Antifa and everyone else gets what’s coming to them. In the meantime, there is no question that violence by protestors of any stripe has fallen off sharply of late. Let’s hope it continues.
  24. I’m not. At all. And yet two well established local news outlets that have been in the community for many years paint an entirely different picture than the city journal. Look, it’s a fluid situation to be sure and conditions on the ground can change, so I’ll keep tuned. But I need more reputable news sources to substantiate reports. The two you cited essentially come right out and say they slant things to the right. Just look at the words they use. They don’t even bother to hide their agenda and pretend to be unbiased observers of the situation. Look, I’m not gonna get into a protracted “I link, you link” war of ideology here. It’s ridiculous. I’ll continue keep tabs on Seattle though, after that protestor was shot by the guy who drove his car into the crowd. I know Antifa didn’t do that.
