I thought that his cap hit was minimum this year and something like 99M next year

Von Miller prediction thread-when will he return to the lineup?
NewEra replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. My initial prediction was to l after london, but his optimism has me thinking Miami. Miami and Jax are two huge games. Would be great to have him. I’d prefer if he sat the first 3 weeks. 3 less games he has a chance to get injured and wear and tear. Raiders and Washington in week 2 and 3 should be easy W’s. Wish we could play him week 1 then sit him down the next 2 weeks, but that’s not happening -
Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?

I did t say it was a guarantee I said that was one of his problems. -
Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?

“It” doesn’t have to do with Beane. The “it” I’m referring to is in reference to small midgets succeeding in the nfl. Inwasnt referring to Harty. I also don’t expect Harty to be out slot WR, like McKenzie was. If he was, I wouldn’t expect him him to succeed in that role. I expect him to be similar to Mecole Hardman. A guy that can take the top off the defense and can take a short pass/handoff to the house. Definitely a niche type player. The always a rule until someone comes along to break analogy doesn’t vibe with me in this case. Let’s say that there were 10 players as small as mckenzie that had success. There were still 100 others his size that didn’t have success. There’s a reason for that. I’d argue that in many cases, it’s because they were too small and their arms and hands were too short. L Having longer arms and bigger hands make it easier to catch with your hands and avoid body catching. I agree that his size isn’t his only problem. But it IS a big problem. As has been rehashed here thousands of times, by you as well, he’s football IQ is lacking. It’s another reason why he hasn’t had success. I realize shakir has short arms. It’s not a one or the other problem. It’s a one and the other problem. A combination of being super short with super small arms, hands and weighing 175lbs is one of the reasons dirty isn’t very good. Shakir doesn’t have the same combination of deficiencies. I do believe that if he has 32 inch arms, he would’ve been a 2nd rd pick and he’d have a higher ceiling. My apologies if you got offended by the check mate comment and if I misread your initial reply. I stand by my belief that his size is a big reason why he isn’t a better WR. I just should’ve included his football IQ in my initial post. -
Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?

He was Josh Allen’s slot receiver for the entire season. Of course his stats aren’t going to be “that bad”. He wasn’t good (he was closer to poor than good last year imo) and we’d prefer good+ as shown by trading up to draft his replacement -

McKenzie measured was 5’7 at the combine. Maybe he grew? 🤷🏻♂️ I get your point, but I hope you also get my point. Size DOES matter when you’re THAT small. If it didn’t, there would be other successful 5’7 WRs -

It doesn’t have anything to do with Beane. name two successful WR’s in nfl history that are mckenzies height and arm length. Name one? I’ll save you some time. In the history of the NFL there are no successful WRs with dirtys dimensions. Check mate my friend edit: I’m a fan of Harty and I expect him to make some big plays for us…. But he was never signed to be our starting slot WR imo. The likelihood of him staying healthy if he gets 100+ targets is very unlikely imo. I expect him to play some outside (not just slot) and run a fair amount of outside/ deep routes. -

Idk why, but he’s too dam small and his arms to too dam short to be a good target. nice guy though -
I think it was a problem for Brown, gabe and possibly Bate. Not sure I agree with “half the problem”. What problem? The stunted growth for those 3? Sure, I agree with that. I don’t think it was “half of problem” if the problem was our lack of success in the playoffs . It’s tough to bring in legit competition for several position. We had a pretty deep team and suffered a ridiculous amount of injuries on D. 16 games and 3 losses by a total of 8 points suggests that we had good competition in many spots.

Bills to workout WRs Preston Williams, Marcell Ateman
NewEra replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall
2 solid guys to work out imo -
ZOMG WE HAVE TO SIGN HIM!! WE CAN’T LET MIAMI GET HIM!!! 😱

I think he’s 💯 worth more. That’s said, will a team be willing to pay him more? 🤷🏻♂️ The OBj contract struck me as too rich and I’m glad we didn’t pay him that much. i think the biggest question is how much playing for a true contender matters to him. I believe the Pats are willing to pay him more than 15M. But does he want to play for NE? 🤷🏻♂️ Does he want a multi year deal with more than one season of gtd money? So many questions that we don’t have the answer to. I’d venture to say there’s a team or 2 that will be willing to pay him 15M+ for the 2023 season. I don’t believe KC or Buffalo will. That said, he may join KC or Buffalo for less than other offers if playing for a true contender is really that important to him. my personal opinion is that $ matters most to him and that he’ll end up in Clevelan for 15M+. Stefanski’s job is on the line and reuniting watson with Hopkins could save his job and get the most out of Watson

I love Shell as a backup, I’ve already stated that. I’m disputing the “hope” that Shell is our starting RT. We should all hope that Brown beats out Shell and becomes a better pro than Shell, who is maxed out and is what he is. A good backup, below average starter imo
-
Hopefully he’s not because Spencer Brown improves and earns the job. We have Brown has more upside and is under contract for 2 more seasons. While Shell is one and done

Pull up what I said. I didn’t say he was going to be good. I didn’t predict that he would make the team. I said that, that you couldn’t possibly “know” whether or not he would make the team at this point in OTA’s. sherfiekd is much better. He’ll make the team and will get sporadic snaps. he can play all 3 wr positions Comparing Sherfield to Austin is a poop comparison. Comparing him to Kumerow makes more sense, but still weak

The only glaring hole when von Miller is injured, is the pass rush…… it’s not a hole when we are healthy. If Stefon Diggs gets hurt, our glaring hole will be WR. If Matt Milano get hurt, the only glaring weakness will be LB If tredavious white gets hurt, the only glaring weakness is CB. if Josh Allen get hurt, our only glaring weakness is QB. if James cook gets hurt, our only glaring weakness is RB. depth is a problem for every team. Replacing injured all pros isn’t easy. I feel your argument is weak. agree to disagree.

Gotcha. So he’s not this years Tavon Austin

We’ve heard. Thanks. wanna bet he makes the team? My 100 to your 50.

Andrew Norwell, about to be released by the commanders
NewEra replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
No need. -
Time and time again…. When we didn’t have the roster we have now. When we had our current defensive roster on the field, our d was very good. Our pass rush was very good. We beat KC in KC with our pass rush being a key contributor. You should be talking about ONE playoff game. The playoff game with our current pass rushers. Not the playoff games with Jerry Hughes as our only good pass rusher. just need to stay healthy. We knew that when we signed Von. Didn’t happen last year. Hopefully it can happen this year. We have a solid rotation The bengals had 30 sacks last year . 4th worst in the league.
-
That’s fair. I guess I don’t understand why you would then compare him to Josh Allen. “What would we say if Josh didn’t show up to OTA’s and was instead seen with his girl in nyc”. We’d be shocked, because Josh is a different breed than Stef. He’s also the QB that has to build rapport and learn about his new playmakers. I don’t see how the two are comparable
-
He’s not Josh. He’s not the QB. He doesn’t have to mesh with anyone other than Josh. He’s proven that he and Josh are very well meshed. He is who he is. This is who he’s always been and this is who he will always be. the quicker you understand and accept that, the more level headed you will be with reacting to him antics. He ain’t changin.
