Just like every GM, veach included the same roster that the major of entire world thought was the best in football last season. And it was. The roster beat KC in KC again. Then injuries (and a teammate dying on the field) ended the season. While KC remained healthy. Luck is involved. Ask the 2020 chief team. Starting the offseason 20M over the cap- Beane upgraded the OL, WR, TE, RB Pass rush and secondary. I agree with the @Success. Beane did a helluva job and now it’s on the players, coaches and the all powerful. The team is championship caliber. Just like last season.

Per usual, my problem is with the word NEED. we didn’t need leonard floyd or an additional proven pass rusher to beat KC last season. We beat them and stopped them with what we had prior to signing Floyd. Some would argue that upgrading WR2 was a bigger “need”. I’m all for adding more and more talent. I love the signing. Every bit helps but every bit isn’t always “needed”. I agree, Beane has had a great offseason.

I can definitely see Beane paying more than 6M. 8.5M for one year isn’t an overpay for a guy like Floyd….it’s just more than I think Beane would pay considering the dearth of vet pass rushers available. The reason I could see 8-9m is if McD really wants to be versatile and move him around, a la Lorax. Floyds coverage and movement skills >> the other vets. He opens up more options

Consider Kincaid to be Beasley on steroid and stilts. we just kicked anotheb 6M down the road with Ed’s contract to sign Floyd. If hopkins will settle for one year of guaranteed money, I agree with you. I just don’t think that is his MO after hiring clutch sports.

20M over the cap to start the offseason. We’ve revamped our IOL, added OT depth, upgraded our WR depth, added future HoFer Kincaid, Floyd and Poona, 2 downhill goal line RBs. Didn’t overpay edmunds and drafted his long term replacement (I’m hopeful). we didn’t upgrade WR2- but we really did. Kincaid will soon be our 2nd option and then possibly our first option when Diggs moved on. Semantics #ignorethetrolls

Pass rush is the 2nd most important aspect of football behind great QB play. Do teams stop trying to upgrade the QB position because they missed on several QBs in the past? No, they can’t. They have to keep trying. Pass rush is the same. Teams don’t stop addressing pass rusher because they missed on previous investments. Keep trying until you get it right. It’s that important.

Great signing. Nothing not to love about it. Proven consistent pass rusher that won a ring rushing opposite Von. Better chance Lawson is cut but better chance that Basham is traded for a 6th or 7th. He got a 5th for Ford….. so anything is possible

8M a year? Sure. I wouldn’t pay him more than that- maybe 10, but that’s pushing it.
