  1. Funny. Did anybody notice in his mock draft that he has Youboty going #21 and Ko Simpson #22?
  2. We are accepting at face value that Denver would've given a 1st, 2nd and a 4th to move into the 8th position. I don't believe it. I do not believe Denver coveted Cutler enough to give up a 1st, 2nd and 4th. I believe that had Denver offered a 1st, 2nd and 4th for the Bills pick, Marv would've taken it. I also don't know why anybody would tell the truth to Peter King. Nobody in the league seemed to know the Bills were going after Whitner. I was so upset at the time I was yelling at everybody. But hearing what Marv said, I'm okay with it. Once more, I do not believe that Denver offered a 2nd and a 4th. Maybe a 3rd and a 4th. They gave St. Louis a 3rd to move up 4 slots.
  3. When the Bills chose Whitner, I freaked out. I thought they had lost their collective minds. But after reading all the stuff about him, and why they made the choice, I am on board. I especially like the Youboty and Simpson picks. Regarding our offensive line, Marv did sign a couple solid veterans in the offseason, including Reyes, who started every game for Carolina. He's not done building this team. Last year, even though we had a horrible offense overall, we led the league in FIRST DRIVE SUCCESS. This means, to me, that the talent is there to score if the playcalling is solid. Once Mularkey got off his script, he was weak. Remember 1st and goal at the Miami 3, interception. Had we won that game, we would not have Whitner either. Maybe not even Marv or Jauron. Who knows?
  4. The draft used to be 12 rounds, even more than that in the old days. There are many examples of late round gems, like Howard Ballard and Bart Starr. This is where scouting really pays off.
  5. What are they trying to hide? Don't you think the Bills and every other team spent most of the last hours of the draft and the following day on the phone cutting deals with UDFA's? Dang it, I gots to know.
  6. It's just an opinion. My opinion is that I've never seen a RB like Bush since OJ Simpson. It's been over 30 years. Even if they didn't want to keep Bush, they certainly could've done something with the pick. The Jets, picking 4th, would've stepped up and taken Bush. Then the Saints would've taken somebody, the Titans would've taken Young, and the Texans would've had either Williams, D'Brick, AJ Hawk....and some extra draft choices. I thought it was a horrible decision. And it doesn't matter how it pans out. Bush could fall in a ditch and break his kneecap. What matters is what they did with that commodity that day, and they blew it. In my opinion.
  7. Eric went to Houston, probably thinking what an offense he was joining! And with Reggie Bush about to join the fold!! I personally think the Texans choosing Mario over Reggie would be like me choosing to boink that dwarf from Poltergeist instead of Jennifer Aniston (fill in the blank).
  8. I thought exactly the same thing....Dallas took a guy who most had going in the 2nd. Nobody seemed to have a problem with that. Maybe his point should be that the Bills had Leinart in their laps and didn't utilize that strength. But neither did Oakland or Detroit.
  9. That was horrible. Even if the guy rapped him in the sack, he should be wearing a cup. If he hit him that hard, Butler would've sunk to his knees. But we'll see how he works out this fall. Everybody deserves a second chance.
  10. I'm not going to trash Tom Donahoe. I think he worked very hard to try and improve this team. Losman still may pan out to be a star, who knows? The Packers and the Rams were poised to take him, but TD made the move. Marv is as smart a guy as you'll find in the NFL. I have faith that his offseason maneuvers have substantially improved this football team. And you know he's not done yet.
  11. I heard that he shouldn't have been signed till late Wednesday, early Thursday. The shame.
  12. It is a fact that the Bills have done great work signing undrafted free agents and turning them into starters....Pat Williams, Jason Peters, for example. Howard Ballard, to go back a few, was a 12th round pick. It is possible that this guy could develop. You don't see Levy holding a press conference about the signing, but I'm sure they grabbed him with the intent of his working hard and perhaps making the roster. Why does everybody have to jump the gun? Some people are trashing the dude like he did something wrong. I'm a little surprised Pittsburgh didn't sign him....you'd think Rothlisberger would've pushed for that.
  13. Saw him play in High School, Webster Groves. He was the best player in St. Louis that year. Never properly utilized at Missouri. Naturally talented.
  14. I noticed that they skated right past discussing Ko Simpson...they had several chances to acknowledge the Bills picking a really good player. Instead, we get a feature on a tight end from Wisconsin and a never-ending dull as dirt interview with Kubiak. Youboty was rated first round by USA Today, and Ko Simpson is 40th rated player in the draft by I forget whom. I think Marv is smarter than anybody I've ever met, and more than likely smarter than any other GM in the league. Maybe not as football savvy, maybe more.
  15. Great pick. I went to USC many years ago, so I keep an eye on them. Ko Simpson was their best player, I think. He's a little crazy out there, needs to develop a little control. But he brings huge enthusiasm.
  16. I think it buys him time to make the right decision. YOuboty is insurance, really. Injuries happen too.
  17. By the time we pick, I suspect that Watson, Bing, Simpson and Gilles will be gone. If we can get that OT or maybe Parys Haralson, pass rush guy/olb from Tennessee. I bet we can get Ryan OCallaghan in the 5th.
  18. Marv has set himself up to succeed with the drafting of Youboty...and Whitner. He's got Nate locked in for a year, and if Youboty fails to produce, or isn't ready, he will negotiate a long term deal with Nate, and give Youboty time to grow. Look at McGee....very good DB, great return guy. He'll be corner number 2 for a while. Clements stays for a year, we've got 2 very good corners a talented rookie learning the ropes, and other capable backups.
  19. After reading that Whitner may have been taken next by the Lions, and that a draft guy had the Bills taking him at 8, I feel better about that pick. McCargo missed the last 5 games last year, otherwise he might have been a top 15 pick, who knows? If he fits the scheme, and becomes a starter this year, he is worth it. I don't like throwing in a 3rd, but at least we have another one right in front of it. I don't like Mortensen trashing the Bills like that. He and Kiper need to spend less time on their hair, and more on pertinent information.
  20. And we waited months for this pick, finally a chance to get something as compensation for sitting through that horrid season. Matt Leinart was in our laps, with willing trade partners, and we take a guy who is valued as a late 1st round pick. Fire Marv right now.
  21. Why take a guy who is not even ranked in the top 30, and pick him at 8? Why not trade Leinert to the friggin' Broncos, then pick him at 15? At least then you won't be the laughing stock of the league. I hate this pick with all my heart. I don't get it. It is not anywhere close to value for the 8th pick, I don't care if the guy makes All Pro his first year, it was a bad choice. Ridiculous. Worst pick in the history of the Bills. Value wise.
  22. The St. Louis Post and USA Today don't even have him in the first. The USA Today has him rated 8th best safety in the draft. Maybe Marv thought that meant 8th best player.
  23. I think they should trade with Arizona, get their 2nd round pick, let them take Leinert. Then we get Bunkley with the 10.
  24. Somebody would surely trade up to that position for Evans!! I think he's going to be an amazing player. I hope he falls to us, and we take him. We need other things, but you can sign free agents to fill DL positions, or take one later on. We just signed a guard, we can wait till the 2nd for a tackle. I don't think Young will be there, but if he is, what would you do? I wouldn't take a shot at Cutler, but somebody wants him. Somebody will trade for Cutler.
  25. Unless Ferguson is available, I think they will trade down, pick up another choice in the 2nd or 3rd, and take the best player they can find at that point. However, if any of the following are on the board, I would suggest they make the pick: Vernon Davis, Huff, Hawk, Young. I don't think Ngata is worth the 8h pick. Nor Bunkley.
