  1. extend the deal. add 3 years @ 10 million per, making it worth about 40 for the next 5. give him a 4 million dollar signing bonus, and get him in camp.
  2. He's a Pro Bowl Left Tackle now. I think they may just extend his deal, give him a good chunk of bonus spread out over a couple years, and backload the damn thing.
  3. I keep reading that Jason Peters is upset and or angry with his contract. I don't think so. I bet he's keeping in shape, doing his hobbies (bowling, knitting, sudoku, etc.) while his agent is doing the right thing. And the Bills are doing the right thing, getting ready to take care of business. He'll get a new deal. They knew they were gonna have to redo his contract a year ago when they signed Dockery and Walker to those huge deals. They got Peters to play last year for less than half of the guy next to him. They played it well (assuming that Dockery and Walker are worth what they are being paid).
  4. What about Bake Turner? That's right, there was a guy named Bake Turner. Played for the Jets.
  5. I remember a car guy telling me this: If you're ever in an accident, no matter how small, even if it's a shopping cart in a parking lot, the first thing you need to do is hit the deck, roll around and say "My back hurts!!" that's right, "My back hurts." Then......PEE YOUR PANTS. Automatic 10 grand for public humiliation. Even if you're not hurt, at least you get 10K for that!! How fast could he have been going, 2? And they let her lie down on the yellow line for 15 minutes? She must have been taking a nap, or trying to work up a good pee.
  6. I remember a game in 2002 when the Pats and Bills were tied for first, and the Pats ran 17 successful screen plays.....almost as if they knew the defense. Turns out they did.
  7. I'm only posting because I don't think this has been mentioned.....Fairchild was the Ram's "playcaller" for the last portion of Faulk's career. Faulk is a bit of an ass, but he could run the ball. That's about it. They really shouldn't have a guy like that roll out with idiotic comments....the NFL network could provide him with a writer, and he could sit down on his lazy ass and read a few articles. It annoys me. Apparently I am not alone. As I feel every year about this time, I am optimistic.
  8. I get most of my information on the Bills from the people on this board. Where are you finding stuff about all these players? I usually buy Pro Football Weekly right after the draft, because they have a pretty comprehensive evaluation of the top 1000 players or so. If you can't find somebody there, they were probably signed by Mike Martz. Thanks in advance for your help.
  9. I hope Marv just trades down a couple times. One player is not going to make THAT big a difference, whereas he has shown the ability to make good use of the draft with lower level picks....and we need a lot of players. One guy I really like is Poluszny, or whatever his name is, from Penn State. He's a monster who could be a combo Shane Conlan/Urlacher, and plug the middle for a few years. Trade down and grab that guy and pick up another choice or two later on.
  10. least: willis most: tasker, till he became an announcer
  11. It just seems weird for the Pats to do almost a 180 from what they've prided themselves on. Without Brady who knows what this team would do? He's always found the open guy, no matter who is on the roster. The key to beating them is hammering Brady to the ground and keeping pressure on him all day long. Which nobody seems to be able to do.
  12. My friend just told me that Dallas will look at offers to trade Julius Jones. I think that kid's a really good talent. Do you think he'd be a good fit for the Bills, and how much would you give up for him? He was originally drafted in the 3rd, I believe.
  13. I read that Chris Henry from Arizona or Arizona State, was awesome at the combines, and he's got great size, speed, strength, power. I think we can get him in the 3rd. Or 2nd. What happens with our 2nd round picks anyway? What's the big deal. I remember watching Brown run all over the place in college. He reminds me of Eddie George. If we can keep him healthy, he'll get 1200. And Henry will take over in a year or two and be a stud. Never liked McGahee. He's a punk. He'll fit right in with the Ravens. Probably shoot a few people, get arrested, acquitted, and run for 980 yards this year. Have a few more kids.
  14. Spending cash to the cap makes no sense. If you were going to get anywhere near the salary cap, all the new guys would have to sign one year deals. Bonus money is amortized over the length of the deal. Maybe Marv is planning on getting some guys to sign deals with guaranteed bonus money spread out over 2-3 years. The 15 million signing bonus Nate needs is 5 million per year...it's in writing, so it is guaranteed money, even if he dies or something. Why would he need 15 million in cash, up front? You can't spend that kind of money in Buffalo!! Besides, if he has a contract guaranteeing him the full amount, any bank would lend him what he needs, up to the 15 million. That way Ralph doesn't have to go too deep into his pockets to sign people, and the money actually is amortized over a few years. And you can spend cash to the cap, because that's what you are doing. Marv saying that there will be no more amortized deals....that's a bunch of crap. All signing bonuses are amortized over the contract. That's the nature of the beast. He's just laying down some BS before sitting down at the table. I believe they will try to get Nate signed. I think Fletcher is gone, because Marv says he makes all his tackles down field. I think they'll keep Kelsay. Gandy's a goner.
  15. How come nobody responded to my suggestion of Bill Cowher? The Steelers still own his rights, they'd trade that for a first rounder, maybe toss in a 3rd, and Dallas signs him to a 5 year 40-45 million dollar deal? Then today I saw on ESPN that Cowher is being considered. He's a great coach. He'd kick TO right under his skirt till his string fell out.
  16. Bill Cowher. Dallas will surrender their first pick in the draft to sign Cowher to a long term deal. 5 years, 45 million.
  17. He will become an unrestricted free agent, so he is absolutely free to go whereever he wants. I wonder if he will give the Bills the chance to match. Anybody remember Cornelius "Benedict Arnold" Bennett, who promised he'd give the Bills the right to match, so don't bother tagging me....and then just signed with Atlanta? What Nate and the Bills agreed to last year was a mutual risk. Nate was coming off a pretty bad year, and he wasn't going to get market value. The Bills were willing to pay him the Franchise Tag amount for a one year deal, and he went out and had himself a pretty good year. Did he make the Pro Bowl? No. Did he make All-Pro? No. Then why does he think he should be the highest paid corner in the league? I'd make him a really good offer, and hope to sign him. Maybe 5 years, 42 million or something. If that won't work, tell him good luck...if you don't mind, run the numbers past us before you sign, we want you on the team, but that's what we have right now. And see what happens. Will somebody pay him the huge dollars? He had a really good year. Not a great year.
  18. Good God. Just because somebody has an opinion doesn't mean they are suggesting they should run the team. Can you guys relax for FIVE SECONDS?? Get off your friggin' high horse, dude. I'm fully entitled to express my ideas. Never did I say I thought I should be GM of the team.
  19. I'm torn about Willis. We all know what kind of player he has been. Who knows how he would be when our offense finally hits full stride? With solid line play, vastly improved JP, 3 healthy wideouts and a functioning Tight End, maybe Willis could hit 1500 yards. I don't think that he's in a position of strength for renegotiation, unless he wants to sign something filled with incentives. I think Marv will do the right thing. I'm not sure any GM in the league would give up anything higher than a 4th rounder for Willis.
  20. Why does everybody seem to be upset when people want to discuss something? It's just a discussion. We can't go back in time and change anything. When the Bills chose Whitner, I spent the next 2 hours in a rage, about how they had made a huge huge blunder. At the end of that day, finding out what was their logic, I supported the choice. Whitner had a really good year. Had it been any other player but Leinart, I wouldn't question it. A year earlier, he was considered the number one pick in the draft. The worst move of the day was Houston's passing on the commodity known as Reggie Bush. It seems to me that they could've at least gleaned an extra pick from New Orleans for not choosing Bush. Look at what's happening in New Orleans. Bush is a large part of that. Look at what happened in Houston. Hell, I can't even remember the name of the guy who was taken number one, that's how impactful he was. Did he even make the all-rookie team?
  21. Hey I waited till the season was over, had a few drinks in me, and sat down at the computer. I'm glad we've got Marv in charge, instead of a postal worker from Missouri. But we had Leinart in our laps and chose to take Whitner. A few years ago the Rams had the 31st pick in the 1st round, and Washington next pick. I think everybody in the world knew that Washington wanted Patrick Ramsey. The Rams could've called them and picked up a 3rd or 4th round pick, just by threatening to draft Ramsey. They instead drafted linebacker Robert Thomas of UCLA, and Washington took Ramsey. Your description of me is pretty much accurate. I get the mail every day, I read it. I am originally from Sanborn, NY so I know how to drive in any condition, including cow manure. The morons down here drive like idiots. I listen to sports radio, and I still love the Bills more than any other team in sports. My dog does not talk to me, but she did order me a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. She heard rumors about it on the internets.
  22. I think the Bills could've traded the 8th pick and still gotten Whitner. Having Leinart drop into their laps....he was a tradable commodity. I know that they said Detroit might pick Whitner, but so what? They could've had Arizona's pick plus a 2nd or 3rd. It still drives me nuts. And Whitner got zero votes for defensive rookie of the year. McCargo? Who the hell knows? He was not playing like a first rounder, let alone a first rounder worth giving up what they did to move up and get him. I hope he pans out. Marv gets my full support for the rest of the draft. I thought on draft day that Youboty and Simpson were steals. Youboty would've been a lot better had he not spent a month away from camp. The clubs loyalty to Youboty should pay dividends down the road. They could've been really tough on the kid. If he turns out to be a player, they should be able to keep him without any problem. Remember, Marv drafted Howard Ballard in the 12th, and look how that panned out.
  23. If we can't afford Nate Clements with 35 million in cap room, who can? Just sign him. I guess we should let London go back to St. Louis. I'll miss his downfield tackling. Willis can go. He's a thug. I've never liked the guy. He's a friggin' thug. How can you possibly ask for a renegotiation when you couldn't come up with 33 yards to get 1000? He's not a character guy. We'll get a 3rd for him. He's only had one breakaway run in 3 years. Lose him. I don't think we're far away from the playoffs. Let Marv build us up.
  24. The Rams have a horrible defense, and the guys on morning radio were talking about who is available in free agency. The one guy said London Fletcher, and before he could even finish the "er" syllable the other guy yelled out "no, no, no! He's no good." The other guy pointed out that he leads the team in tackles every year, and the guy says, "he just happens to be in the right spot at the right time." Oh. Very insightful. He must be a terrible player, that London Fletcher. Then they asked, "if you could pick one player to build an NFL team around, who would it be?....the obvious answer is Stephen Jackson." I'm thinking, oh maybe 30 guys ahead of Stephen Jackson. What about LT? Vince Young? Peyton Manning? Brian Urlacher? Merriman? Stephen Jackson. Wow.
  25. The Jets had the ball inside the 20 with 1:54 left, and Miami had only 1 timeout. They should've let the Jets run it in, and they would've had the ball with about 1:40 left after the kickoff, and time to go downfield and try to tie it up. As it played out, the Fins used their last timeout, and the Jets ran it down as far as they could, to 16 seconds, and kicked the game winning field goal. This gave the Fins 10 seconds to return the kick and march down to try a field goal. This strategy of allowing the opposition to score is rarely used. I think the Packers used it in the Super Bowl. I remember one year we lost to the Falcons, on Thanksgiving weekend, when they kicked a field goal as time expired. They had the ball inside our 10 with about 2 minutes left, and I was screaming, let them score!! It's just a strategy. Leave yourself time to do something.
