  1. Why tag him? Just sign him. He lost millions in value last year by playing CB like Chris Watson, Punt Catcher. Sign him to a 4 year 17 million or something like that. Or, threaten to franchise him and work out a trade, like they did with Peerless. They can probably wrangle a 2nd for him. Or a 3rd, if the trading partner has videos of last season. Or a 7th if they have the Miami game.
  2. This looks like a really good hire to me. Baltimore has had staunch d's for years, and he has experience as DC with the Giants. Write it up, I say. Let's get busy.
  3. maybe the a hole just wants to collect 750K to do nothing this year. it ain't bad money, rather than rebuilding in buffalo. even if they offered 1.25 mil, he may choose to sit on his ass and collect a quite hefty unemployment check, rather than work 16 hours a day.
  4. He had many weapons on the offense, besides the rookie qb from Harvard and the very mediocre Jamie Martin. He had Stephen Jackson, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Kevin Curtis....and the overrated Orlando Pace, a 1st rounder Alex Barron at the other tackle, Adam Timmerman at guard, and a couple other okay people on the line. The problem is, they were so pass happy that the defense knew they weren't running, so they'd blitz the frack all day long, which led to the injuries to Mark Bulger. I don't think Fairchild is a good choice, and I hope I am 100% wrong. Gotta trust Marv and Jauron, I guess.
  5. I think it was rather idiotic of Fairchild to pass the ball so much with a rookie QB from Harvard, and a 3rd string washout Jamie Martin....Fitzgerald threw 5 picks in one game, and Fairchild still kept calling for passes. He had Steven Jackson and Marshall Faulk at his disposal, and he let the rookie QB throw away football games. I remember one week, Faulk was having his best game of the year. The Rams got the ball with 4 minutes left, and they put in some dude named Arlen Harris instead of Faulk, and they went 3 and out and lost the game. The media and fans AND FAULK (on the sidelines) were livid.
  6. I don't believe that Steve Fairchild had much, if anything to do with the Rams offense. I think Martz brought him in as a yes man to cover his own ass. The Rams demanded that Martz hire an O.C., and he did. Martz called all the plays until he was hospitalized, and he even tried to phone in some plays from the hospital. That said, it's possible that Fairchild absorbed enough of Martz's alleged genius to help the Bills.
  7. Fairchild is a favorite son of Mike Martz, and a yes boy at that. When Martz went on sick leave, Fairchild took over the playcalling, and it was abysmal. Horrible. Let it not be him.
  8. They were making fun of Kollar on the St. Louis radio today because he made stars out of Damione Lewis and Jimmy Kennedy. But I reminded myself that he turned out some pretty good guys who went elsewhere....Grant Wistrom, Bryce Fisher, Bryan Young, Jeff Zgonina, and a couple others. I'm backpedalling. I want it to work, I hated to hear them trash the guy today on the radio. No class.
  9. I think Leonard Little became very productive when he was on the other side of the line from Grant Wistrom. Lovie Smith came in as DC and turned the team around from the worst defense in the league to one of the best. Kollar may have been the victim of some bad DC from Larry Marmie. Damione Lewis was rated first round material, as was Jimmy Kennedy. Pickett was considered a reach at the end of the first round. Somebody has to be accountable when first round picks bite it. I hope Kollar does well. You mark my words, there will be at least 1 article about his screaming this summer.
  10. I think that is a great move by the Rams. Rams fans hate this guy, and upper management chose to ignore them and bring in somebody who can instill some passion and pride into the defense. Not to mention, a friggin' clue. That defense was like a bunch of nomads looking for camels out there.
  11. Fans fell in love with this guy Bill Kollar, because you could see and hear him from the upper deck, screaming at guys when they came off the field. Passionate, they called him. Yet the past few years, you could see tumbleweeds blowing thru the holes in the line, following running backs past the whiffers. The Rams, who do not know how to draft, have 3 first round picks on the defensive line. Damione Lewis, Ryan Pickett, and Jimmy Kennedy. Kollar has failed to make these guys productive. Maybe it was the overall scheme of the coordinator, Larry Marmie....Mike Martz's best buddy who he snagged away from the mighty Arizona Cardinals. Ryan Pickett is looking for a 20 million dollar deal, and if that's what it would take to get him to Buffalo, I'd say no way. Bryce Fisher developed during Kollar's tenure. Maybe he helped in that area. I may be wrong about this guy. He does yell and scream, yet the defense in St. Louis is abominable.
  12. Fairchild was a yes man to Mike Martz for about 3 years, wasn't even calling pl.ays. Once Martz got ill, Fairchild took over the playcalling, and it was just weird. He threw something like 37 times per game with 2nd and 3rd string QB's, when he had Steven Jackson and Marshall Faulk in the backfield. The Rams got whooped most every game this past year. Fairchild showed nothing, maybe that's why they are not keeping him in St. Louis.
  13. Maybe a slight backpedal, but I reiterate in my opening missive that I said, it might have been the right thing to do, but hardly a bighearted family type response. This is not that big a deal.
  14. I agree that it needs to be taken into context. Here's the preceding paragraph: "He treats men like men," said Bills right guard Chris Villarrial, who played for Jauron in Chicago. "He enjoys the game, he loves the game and he's always straightforward with you. You always know where you stand with him. You can talk to him about family. Once he meets your family once, he remembers everyone's name. He'll ask you every day how everybody is." I took that as a setup to what a family guy he is, and then I thought it was not a family type response to the DB's situation. I thought it was a Lombardi like response, which I like. But hardly the Bighearted Bennie type counseling that was implied. After reading all these responses, I can see how it could be interpreted either way.
  15. I am not questioning Jauron. I'm criticizing the inclusion of this little ditty as an example of his largesse. I agree that the DB should focus on the field, and handle his business in the 4 hours a day he has during training camp for such a purpose.
  16. I'm not questioning Jauron, I'm questioning the writer. I tuned in and heard some of the press conference. I'm off the ledge. I'm on board. Actually excited to have somebody besides TD and his gang running the ship. Because I am a Bills fan, I reserve the right to make crazy statements and retract from them once I come out of the ether.
  17. Holy sheeite, I guess that today I am no good at making a point. The point is, they don't read the emails. I did not expect a reply at all. It's like "The Lazlo Letters," by Don Novello (much better than the mediorcre "Letters from a Nut," he sends out letters, and gets B.S. responses.
  18. No, it was goodbye. As I said at the beginning, I was too upset. I'm over it, obviously I still care or I wouldn't be here. I'm just like a lot of Bills fans. Crazy, paranoid, delusional, excitable, silly, angry, optimistic, depressed, passionate, and totally in love with the team.
  19. My point is, and it's in my original post....that they used this as an example of what a "player's coach" this guy Jauron has been. I said that may have been the right thing to do. I just don't think it makes sense to put it in as a measure of the man's big heart.
  20. I was maybe a little too angry when the Jauron thing hit the net the other night. I went to the Bills page to let them know I was upset. I got their response this morning. Here's the transcript: From me: Why would you hire Dick Jauron to do anything? His defenses in Detroit have gotten WORSE every year. He's only been associated with 1 winning team in the past decade. I have been a fan for nearly 40 years. Goodbye. The response: Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your support and passion for the Buffalo Bills. We are very excited about the upcoming season and future of the Bills under Coach Dick Jauron. We are confident in Coach Jauron’s ability to lead our team in the right direction and hope to bring you along for the ride. This is an exciting time in Bills history as a new era is being ushered in and with the best fans in the NFL, like you, we are bound to do many great things! Thank you Buffalo Bills
  21. In one of the articles today, they tell the story of when a rookie DB, whose paycheck somehow was late, was all panicky because he needed the money for things like day care payments. I was ready to reach for my hanky when I read what Jauron did to help the lad. He told him to get on the field and play, and forget about the check. Call the people he owes money, and tell them they'll have to wait! Wow, what a fantastic human thing go do!! Or maybe he could call the front office and ask them where the hell this kid's check might be, or even front him a few bucks till it gets resolved. But no, he told him to go on the field and hit somebody. That may have been the right thing to do, but I don't think it illustrates any big hearted player friendly nature.
  22. you're absolutely right. i misquoted the article, and that is my fault.
  23. not to reply to my own post, but the Lions page claims he's in his 9th NFL season, which is quite an achievement since his first year in the NFL was 2001.
  24. According to the Buffalo News, Dick will probably name Greg Olson as Offensive Coordinator. Despite the fact that this guy comes from a losing situation with the Lions, his pedegree looks okay to me. He's helped some kids develop. Lions page
