Anybody miss Whaley yet?
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to CDogg20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All you have to do is watch the footage of him pitching EJ to realize just how out of his depth he was. Dude literally fell in love with EJ and just couldn't quit him. He ruined the offense trying to give EJ a chance, and continued to push EJ long after it was clear EJ couldn't perform. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre Season Game 4
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"I think it's bigger than that," coach Sean McDermott said of Peterman making his case as a potential opening-day starter if needed. "It's developing a young player, regardless of what position. We wanted to get him out there and give him a good look in a couple of series, and I thought he did a good job." -

"Make no mistake Tyrod remains the starter" Don't be too sure. McD likes who he likes, and I think he likes Peterman. -

This is exactly what is happening. Sadly, many fans don't even know what a winning franchise looks like. -
Feel Like We Are Going Back To Dark Days
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? Cause to me it feels like we're finally struggling toward the light. McBean is working from the BB playbook. Get what you can early for talent that didn't work out, build from the draft. Pats make cuts all the time that seem silly at the time, but they always improve the roster because they get draft picks early before the wheels fall off these players. SW has loads of talent but how has that translated on the field? I predict 2015 was his best season in the NFL. Always hurt, you cant help your team into the playoffs if you cant play. BB looks two, three years into the future and cuts players like Sammy in time to get something for them. It works. I think we are going to do much better this year under McD than many think, possibly make a wildcard run. But if we suck this year in the name of building a SB bound team next few years, so be it. Ive waited over 20 years for a SB team, I can wait a few more to do it right. Rex and Whaley promised a "win now" approach, and THAT is what has set us back 2-3 years. The SW reach was all about sacrificing the future to win now; it didn't work. Time to reset. I think McD has a 3-5 year plan to win the SB. Need to give him at least a full season to see if he's taking us in the right direction. -
Polian - McD, "he's Marv-like".

Outcoached by the Hoodie ... and outcoached by Joe Gibbs following year, with Mark Rypien (!) as QB. -

concur. we needed to start over, clean slate, after Ralph passed. Too bad we waited so long, but moving forward now. -

He could be our new GM What a moment ... nvm -
I'm from Erie. In the 70s choices were Steelers or Browns ... ugg and meh. I just couldnt get in to NFL football. But sometimes we got Toronto station and in early 80s saw a commercial by some new hotshot quarterback for the Bills ... name was Jim ... bills were like 3-13 prior year and I thought, "this guy seems confident, and this team has no where to go but up ... maybe they could even go to the Superbowl." I have been an unbending Bills fan since. It worked out well when I met a gal from Wilson and met her family ... Bills fans. Married 23 years and counting.

What difference if your team makes the playoffs?
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Being relevant in January would be nice. Or maybe we could go to the playoffs and win one? Are we finally at the point we would rather not have to play than face possible failure? -

Tyrod Taylor - pick up the option

If you have season tickets it IS your money. -
Man I just cant believe how many people think a better QB would make a big difference in this organization. The number of QBs who could carry this mismanaged team to the playoffs is probably in the single digits. Jimbo, Marino, Brady, a few others. None of them are available. Until we fix systemic FO issues this team is going nowhere. I guess we'll find out tomorrow or Tues whether there is a housecleaning, or not.

A Rex Apologist Says Enough
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont really know that much about football but Ive made a study of leadership. I knew Rex had to go after the London game. He is a soft coach who doesnt hold his players accountable. Take the week off guys, how often are we in London? Terrible play? Blame it on jet lag. Stupid penalties? Wear a wrist band. I know we lost, but you guys worked hard, take Monday off. Again. I naturally have the "nice guy" leadership style and it works when you have committed people under you but is the WORST leadership style to have when people are only self-concerned. This team is largely self-concerned and Rex has done nothing to bring them around to a team mentality. He just shrugs his shoulders week after week. No accountability, no change. In pro football, nice guys finish last. Or 8-8. Being the "nice guy" boss myself, I would have no business running a team of self-concerned prima donnas and neither does Rex. I hear Coughlin is a disciplinarian, that is what a team like this needs. -
2 years, 1 win vs teams with winning record
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, no. Many of our "close" games were lost in the 3rd Q (or sooner), and we caught up in garbage time. Our stats are WAY better than we actually are. -
