Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
eball replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. It’s basically like a “punch list” to be completed. The lengths to which some will go in this forum to be critical of this organization is something. -
ESPN's Around the Horn ended today after 22 years on the air.......
eball replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a somewhat interesting show but can’t say I was a fan. The selection of panelists was curious, and with no understanding of the point system it seemed random. I suppose congratulations and respect are due for having lasted that long in this era. -
If there is no teamwork and cohesion between the HC and GM (with support from ownership) then you have the Jags, Jets, and Browns. GMs will whiff. A lot. Many fans get too caught up in the misses (particularly 1st rounders) to appreciate the overall performance of the GM, but there’s no question Beane whiffed on this one. Obviously they thought they could use Elam’s talents in their defense, but as we all know, those evaluations are far from perfect and difficult to predict.

Way too young. Talk about a guy with demons though. Sad. RIP.

Great, another WR thread. Can’t wait for camp to start — so we can get daily reports on the WRs and how bad they are.

I agree that this is a great opener. There are still a lot of people saying the Bills should have lost the playoff game and were outplayed physically by the Ravens. I don’t agree. The Bills led that game almost the entire way (after Baltimore’s opening TD) and Buffalo RBs (not Allen) rushed 26 times for 127 yards against the vaunted Baltimore run defense. Did Lamar make a couple of mistakes? Yes. Did the TE drop a tying 2-pt conversion? Yes. But the Bills played mistake-free on offense and drove for two 4th quarter FGs to keep the Ravens at arms length. If Baltimore had tied it, the Bills still had time to go and get a winning FG of their own. It was hardly a game Baltimore “dominated” and then bungled away. I’m looking forward to the new pieces on D and how the offense will evolve further under Brady. It won’t be the end of the world if the Bills lose, and it won’t mean they’re going undefeated if they win. It will simply be a great opener between two excellent teams.

NFL players to the Olympics in Flag Football?
eball replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I still don't understand how in the hell that ever happened...well, maybe I do. But good god, what a disaster. -
Interesting take. I've lived here since '98 and can't say I agree. I'm on the border of Durham and Chapel Hill. Does any town ever get the roads right before the population explodes? Kinda just the way it is. Restaurant scene in Durham and Chapel Hill is excellent.

LOL -- I think even McD's fiercest critics would acknowledge he goes above and beyond in the "caring" department. They just gave up on Elam because he wasn't doing what they needed him to do even with a lot of coaching. But whatever; I wish the dude all the best.

I come to this site about a gazillion times a day and I can tell you I’ve never come here to see the schedule. Plus, it’s a great idea to criticize the guy who has created and maintained this site for all of us over the years.
-
I beg to differ.
-
You can disagree, but the take isn't horrible and had 22 of 32 votes. When I look back at NFL Films highlights and history, the story isn't replete with ball carriers being pushed and pulled to victory.
-
Well, I guess I gotta watch this show now...
-
I think you know exactly what I mean.
-
The pull is already banned, it’s just not being consistently enforced. The whole thing is stupid.
-
A player should not receive assistance (pulling or pushing) from a teammate to gain yardage -- PERIOD. It's a stupid play and should have never been allowed.
-
Haha, yes, you are correct. I'll edit.
-
Friggin' Travis Jason Kelce was there lobbying for the play. Ridiculous. It's not a football play and hopefully it's out next year.

Lions withdraw proposal to alter playoff seeding
eball replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Never gonna happen ($$). Half of the league gets into the postseason tournament, just like the two other major sports (NBA/NHL). Baseball is its own animal and they play too many games as it is. Adding one team in each conference won't water down anything, and it only adds one more game. Nothing else changes; you still have 2v7, 3v6, and 4v5. Makes too much sense not to do this. -
/yawn/

I think at the end of the day the Fish still have the 2nd best roster and will finish 2nd in the division...five or six games behind the Bills.

Lions withdraw proposal to alter playoff seeding
eball replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Once they get to an 18-game schedule I hope they eliminate byes altogether and put 16 teams into the playoffs so it's a legitimate tournament. The decision to go to only one bye per conference was a dumb one. -
NFL players to the Olympics in Flag Football?
eball replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s a non-contact sport, and essentially the same thing as players working out in the offseason. There’s really no reason not to approve them playing if they want to. Yes, injuries can happen, but they can also happen just by working out. I’m sure the legal details were discussed and the owners will not invalidate contracts if a player is injured during the Olympics. -

I think a lot of NFL players would get a huge kick out of this and will be interested.
