I just don't understand. Stagger the games, work with bye weeks or thursday games, and give no one an advantage.

I mean... they had a 2 week stay...

4 drives ended by dropped passes
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just like the QB occaisionally sailing them. It was unfortunate. 1st quarter. Allen rolled right and threw it fairly low, but what felt like catchable. I'd have to see the play to confirm full on drop or not, but they didn't show like any replays on TV. -
I feel like this happens a bit more than we think - but it's usually within some element of the play. Turning a slant up field because of where the LB is, or heading to the sideline and hoping that he sees you at the right time.

I've been trying to look at it like... we aren't the favorite anymore. It's hard to say if we ever were, but right now we're going to go into games against philly, KC, Cincy etc as a dog. Here's the thing, we're still learning to play a brand of football that makes you hard to play against and it'll develop over the season - not in a couple of games. This game showed me that A- We have a long way to go in our rushing offense and B- Allen can still absolutely turn it loose and make aggressive plays. Defensively we showed against miami that we're able to get a little creative, and we're already having to lean on depth. In the same way that we're developing our offense, the defense will have to do the same - next man up mentality, but you have to be willing to play this physical brand of defense. If we end up a wildcard - so be it. Be that wildcard that nobody wants to play. We play a physical brand of defense that can cause turnovers - thats a way to beat some of these teams. Offensively we want to be able to beat you however you decide to line up, and i think the bills have a lot of ways to beat a team. I don't love Dorsey, and i think unfortunately he's still learning... but i think there are probably greener pastures ahead.

Kaiir Elam is a liability any time he is on the field
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is where I'm at. He's been here all year, he's played in this league before, he's capable of better. He seemed to say the right things after the game, and knows he's not getting it done. Get back to work mentality. -
Drops were big. Secondary was poor. Linebackers need to tackle better. Penalties everywhere. And u start a Harty thread after he actually has an OK game on the likely limited snaps he got. Okayyyy? I guess he muffed that punt but its a ***** spot, u can't let it bounce in case it goes backwards and u lose time.

Its a depth piece. Expiring deal and see if he fits, basically 0 trade comp. If he doesn't fit or play well its easy to either dump him this year, or let him walk in FA.

I doubt he plays much at all. They have Hill and Waddle - both quick and fast guys who stretch a team. Chosen Anderson can spell them and provide similar field stretching ability and depth that doesn't change what they want to do offensively. Berrios and Wilson are slot options. He's #6 and doesn't play special teams so i would assume he doesn't dress right away and is there as depth for long term injury, and potentially as a contested catch receiver if that becomes something they want to use.

TNF. Sorry, is CHI/WSH worth a thread?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hes big and rangy in the middle - in tampa 2 you have to be careful when attacking the seams and he does more to discourage you to throw in that area than actually breaking up plays or creating turnovers. Tampa 2 has holes though, namely underneath short, out routes, and deep crossers because it'll require that deep middle LB to follow. I noticed on a deep crosser that he didnt have enough depth to break up one - he knew the crosser was there but he didn't play it deep enough to impact it. Trying to discourage the throw more than actually being able to do anything with it. You ask a lot of the player in that situation, and he is a fit for what Eberflus wants to run. He just needs more from the front 4 and safeties to actually be able to effectively run that scheme. A team with a good offensive line is going to attack you with the run game, and create space behind the LBs in play action. -

3200 yards passing and 15 TDs just doesn't scream... good QB. -
Eh - Vander Esch is nice as a down hill run stopper and shedder. His coverage abilities never blew me away. He's had injuries the last 2 years but Shaq Leonard from the same draft went in the 2nd and is probably the best linebacker from the class - Roquan Smith wasn't available for our pick but he's also been a really good player. Leonard has more sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles than Edmunds and Vander Esch combined.

They dared him to chuck it and he did quite a bit. He missed a lot of other open throws too. Daniel Jones regression has been a pretty swift fall. I feel like to win with this guy you need - a solid RB, great offensive line, and multiple playmakers. At that point you could probably put sam howell in and get the same results. -
Virtually impossible isn't impossible. In a 3 score game with that much time left I'd probably just try and move the ball a little and let the clock trickle down. Inside 4-5 minutes? Sure, run it every play. But I'm not We were up 16-0 in the 4th quarter with 12 minutes remaining the last time we ran a pass play against Washington. That is a two score game with 12 minutes left, you aren't really running clock there. We were up 28 in the 4th quarter against miami and ran 2 passing plays. The run play in the red zone (to go up 28) is not a draw, its a read-option. He has 3 blockers and the back (plus allen). Miami had 4 players on that side of the offensive line. You watch the one linebacker to see if he follows the back (he did), and you pull the ball and its 3x3 plus allen... hence walk in score. So you insult the guy who has significantly more football knowledge than you, to prove your point?

Diggs doesn't move on running plays
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to MikeSpeed's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he's split out wide and the action is in the middle, there really isn't much for him to do. The DB in coverage isn't going to be able to make much of a play on it, and theres 10 other defenders nearer the ball so he probably would rather save his juice for covering diggs. If the run action is outside, then obviously get up field and throw a block. I suppose he could run a "route" but wouldn't you rather him save that kind of thing for when we are calling pass plays? -
I think Allen checked into this based on the hat count on that side of the field. I feel like the "4 minute offense" has to have passes in it. They're going to be attacking the run game and trying to punch the ball out. Behind that there's opportunity for yards and more plays if you pass.

Friends the Oline has arrived…
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just remember him as an absolute liability when i saw him play. Yeah, dawkins has a bit of a frumpy body shape. But he did come into this year looking more... functionally heavy than just heavy. Arms look bigger, looks quicker. -

Both new guards are playing well, we have a next man up inside in bates. Edwards as an extra blocker and depth piece. A backup T who has played in the league before quite a bit. And a couple young depth pieces in anderson and Van Demark who show a lot more potential than Bobby Hart and Van Roten. -
Usually when you blitz you want to play some level of man coverage behind it - perhaps we were looking to blitz more.

Gabe Davis - deep stat improvement
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a deeper target, his catch % is always lower because when you throw the ball 15-20 yards down the field its easier to miss the throw. -

2 interceptions thrown his way... I know it shows on his stats but... neither of them was on him. -
Hypothetically… Brian Daboll gets the boot….

I can't pick the giants as much of a favorite in any of their remaining games. Maybe raiders? They had their tyrod taylor playoff year last year, and instead of figuring out QB and dumping bad contracts and trying to rebuild. They doubled down on danny dimes and barkley as their offensive identity.
