Salah is beginning to irritate me
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm saying people are acting like their offense is humming along and Zach Wilson has "figured it out". Defensively they generate takeaways and have a really nasty front 4 that causes everyone problems - i don't think thats really up for debate at this point. And when i say "people" i don't mean this board, its more the media talking heads. -
16 first downs on 30 targets is actually pretty good. Waddle has 16 on 35. Meyers has 18 on 43. Ridley has 17 on 44 targets. Devonta smith has 11 on 45 targets. The chain mover on a 3rd and 4 isn't gabe davis. Other teams it might be their WR2, but buffalo has Diggs. If you have Kupp, Adams, and Diggs (who are imo the best 3 route runners in the league), that should be who you look at to move the chains. You then have conventional slot options to slip man coverage underneath, and TE's for window throws. We have all of those things.

So you want me to do math for you, to prove my point wrong? No. People lay into this guy like he's the anti-christ. Hes 27th in the NFL right now TODAY in receiving yards, while playing on a team with a guy who is 3rd in the NFL in receiving yards. The guy is literally tied for 4th in the NFL in receiving TDs. He can make contested catches, he's good at tracking deep balls, and he has some toe-drag swag. He's also a plus blocker. Those are all traits that teams covet in wide receivers. So you just named 3 players who have fewer yards, and more targets than Gabe Davis right now - even with Buffalo's offense not playing particularly well all season.
-
Currently his catch% is 70%, even with 2 drops. He also has an average depth of target of 14.7 which is 11th in the NFL.

They were getting a decent amount of YAC on some of those throws too. Couple yards short of the sticks turned into first downs or 3rd and shorts.

The biggest blunder of the game IMO

Since when does missing a FG mean you can't make another though? Also our best player is the QB - i probably trust him to win it (he almost did). -
1 play from the 1 yard line. Everyone has to be on the LOS or they're going to run it. They went for a high point back line throw to their best offensive weapon for that target. You cannot get your head around as they're at an advantage almost immediately and you're chasing.

1T you could maybe look at Mike Purcell in denver as a possible upgrade over Ford. He's not splashy but if we're just looking for someone to eat up some double teams and provide some improved depth i could see him as an option.

He was double teamed by center and guard. Guard got to 2nd level both times to disrupt the linebackers.

People are upset that we didn't punt from the 36 yard line. Why do you get your kicker a contract extension if he can't make a 53 yard FG? Or that we didn't run on 3rd and 9. We have one of the best QBs in the league and we shouldn't run a play action pass on 3rd and 9? These are the decisions that Doug Marrone would make. -

It was 53 not 63. He was 11/16 from 50 before this game, and 3/3 this season. 8 points and a kickoff to them means you cannot lose the game on the next possession. You get to try and stop them from getting in the end zone, and you get to stop them on the conversion. Either way you win. -
Unleash Josh Allen...stop trying to change him

Quite a bit of contact there too considering Allen was still in the pocket during this play. -

4 of 6 at home to start the season - and 2-2 in those games. This is a huge benefit to a struggling QB. Less crowd noise, can mix up snap counts, easier to call plays in the huddle, and easier to set protections. Also helps your defense a lot to have the crowd in the game. The away win was at denver, they rushed for 200+ and that crowd was very likely pretty dead. -

Insane that he threw that pass. I don't mind a "pass play" but you have jalen hurts - he should be moving not back pedaling, he should be out of pocket not in it, and you probably should have had a play action element. -
They doubled ford and moved him, then the guard got to 2nd level. When ford came out and they tried it again phillips split the double team and was in the backfield.

Wilson had about 150 yards across 40 pass plays - throw in the scrambles 170 on 42 plays. They didn't run well, but they didn't turn it over. 17 first downs with 3 coming from penalties. 244 yards. That is a losing line in probably 95% of games. Eagles -4 turnover margin is a death sentence though. Against a team with a stout defensive line that you couldn't run on, they were forced to do things they don't do quite as well. The 4th one being an absolute disaster with it being returned to the 8 yard line. Both teams were missing players - Carter Brown and Slay (johnson also got hurt on the first drive) for the Eagles, Sauce and Reed for the Jets. To lose this game philly had to make mistakes, and they did. Kick catch interference on a punt gave the jets a free 3 and out field goal. Fumble before half spotted them an extra chance for points. Elliott missed a sub-40 yard field goal. -
Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo

Same - if the TD wins the game, don't let them get it and let the refs sort it out. -
There's a couple ways to look at it. You can stretch the seam and force them to back off, or you can run it consistently and force them to play closer to the LOS. The 2nd half offense seemed to say: You want to play your linebackers back, and safeties 15 yards off? Fine - we'll line up under center and keep gashing you into makeable 3rd downs where we can throw short.

Uhh former bill and future hall of famer Isaiah hodgins?! All kidding aside, robinson doesn't get drafted in the 2nd round if there isn't talent there (i thought he showed some wiggle a few times against us as a solid underneath option). Personally I kinda like Slayton as a player. He's fast, plays bigger than his height, has some solid ball tracking, and can make contested catches. He's a solid #2 WR on a lot of teams. Honestly if Buffalo were to go for a playmaker at the deadline, i wouldn't hate him. The parris campbell signing and adding Hyatt was supposed to give them some more speed on the outside to stretch teams but, campbell has never been the deep threat type of player with his speed and Hyatt felt a bit one note in his scouting report.

When buffalo has been at their best - they're targeting lots of players in different personnel groupings. This game we pretty much sat in 11, and split shakir and sherfield in that grouping. Shakir is the worse blocker of the two, so i'd imagine that factored into who was on the field on what downs. They tried to use edwards as a blocking TE but that is such a huge run tell, and then used morris a bit more at the end. Looked like a lot of two high safety looks in cover 2, and they sat back pretty deep over the middle. The windows there require rhythm, or you have to target the boundaries.
-
Most likely - i could see him restructuring before that happens to stick around. He had 9 TDs the year he signed so its not like he doesn't have ability.

I don't think so? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/las-vegas-raiders/hunter-renfrow-29197/ All of his bonuses are money that is "already paid" out in some capacity (quotes because you don't actually get the check, but you guaranteed it and spread it over years). 2024 is a 11ish Million base salary you could cut with no guarantees. And two bonuses that are tied to workouts (you cut him at start of league year so this would be out), and roster bonus tied to being active on gamedays.
