Well hes not going to be MORE healthy by showing up to camp! lol
-
A healthier player...?
-
I mean... all things considered... you can do a lot worse in a tackle eligible situation.
-
His pick against Miami was pretty much a game saver. We were down 4 at that point. We play in a division with a ton of speedy WRs. Both Jackson and Benford run in the mid 4.5's, while Elam ran a sub 4.4. You basically can't play man if ur starting either of the other guys. My expectation is he has the job by end of year unless jackson and benford can make plays. Last year is a tough e v a l because all 3 played in various roles, on various sides of the field. Run fits and tackling matter as well, and thats usually something a coach will gripe with a young player on especially in camp.

Eh - 41 year old non-QBs will always skip camp if they can.
-
The first game was an absolute mess. Looking at the numbers too... 3 drops on 28 pass attempts. 2 by deebo, who also lost a fumble in the red zone. Not as if his guys did him a ton of favors in that one. Lance had 13 carries on the game, and only 4 are recorded as scrambles so its pretty clear they were trying to just run the ball.

A lot of that is signing bonus though. I highlighted the things an acquiring team *might* be on the hook for. For 2023 you def pay the base salary as thats game checks (number on the left). The 2.8M is a roster bonus for camp so i assume thats paid out already by SF. So you would be getting him my GUESS is for 2yr at like 6.2M.

Pick 6 was inexcusable imo. Can't be having decisions like that when you're under the gun.

Just looking at his splits inside 10 yards. They really aren't that good, they were better in 2021 though with a more seasoned coordinator. 2022 - Passing: 18/40 (40%) - 14 TDs and 3 interceptions. He also was sacked once. Running: 15 carries for 23 yards and 5 TDs (likely some sneaks here so yards really don't matter much). 2021 - Passing: 29/56 (52%) - 18 TDs and 1 interception. Running: 17 carries for 52 yards and 5 TDs. I'd say play design definitely needs to improve based on those numbers. I expect comp% to be lower, but 40 is straight up bad. Herbert was 27/49 for 12 and 1. He was sacked twice and didn't do anything on the ground. Lawrence was 20/36 for 15 and 2. He had 5 more on the ground. Basically, too many turnovers and inability or unwillingness to run the ball. Running the ball well inside 10 will fix a lot of the issues here. A bit more motion helps. Rub routes. Getting a little tricky too. Teams are going to play zone here until you force them to stop playing zone.

Bills practice Thurs 8/17 starting with McD interview
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Harty there are cap ramifications with cutting him - not to mention we don't know how and where he fits in the return game and the offense. He also was an all-pro return man his rookie year. Sherfield is a core special teams player, fast, and a plus blocker. Replaces Kumerow, and can play inside and outside on offense. Shakir has 2 years of cost control and probably should have gone prior to round 5. There's a lot of potential there, and potential value on his current rookie deal. -

Speeds great, but Isabellas got that body catching reputation and thats no bueno when you're 5'9". Speeds great, but if you aren't a good deep ball tracker or able to make anything contested you aren't going to get a ton of deep opportunity. Say what you want about bease's size, but he had a pretty decent catch radius and had some serious hands. If he can show to be a guy who can catch those allen fastballs in the short area he'll stick. -
If he had plus hands he wouldn't be a free agent with his measurables. At the same time - he was a 2nd round pick just 4 years ago. Just hasn't been able to translate it to an NFL field. The athletic measurables are there, clearly he didn't mesh well with murray, and before that they had trash QBs so that makes it more difficult as well. Sherfield is a plus blocker, flexible player, and special teamer. Harty can play inside and out, really good deep ball tracker, has some elite quickness, and is a one time all-pro returner. Shakir also has shown the ability to line up in both positions, as well as contribute in return game if necessary. Kincaid is going to also take a lot of the slot snaps. At the end of the day you have to evaluate where you see him fitting on offense and whether he'll see enough snaps to take a job from a shakir or shorter.

You're probably losing a shorter or shakir if you do pull that trigger. His return ability likely doesn't factor too much into it with Harty being here. I'd say he's in competition with shakir more than anyone else, and he doesn't offer any ability to play outside while harty Sherfield and shakir both do. -
I'm going to go with Gabe Davis. 60-70 Catches, 1000ish yards, and 7+ TDs. Probably got that flip flopped tbh.

Shakir has more ability to potentially play both inside and out which offers more flex as a depth piece. He's also under contract for 2 more seasons so there is a cost control. He's fast, but he has a small catch radius, doesn't have plus hands, and he's just generally small. He offers a lot of the same attributes as harty, but harty is better as a deep threat and can play outside as well as inside. Long odds though - with Sherfield, harty, Shakir as slot options, Shorter as a 6th man seems more likely to me as he offers more as a variety piece who can probably play special teams. With Shell retiring i think he can stick on the PS at least to start the year. -
OT…All is not going well on South Beach

Which also means he's playing banged up the majority of the time as well. -
How much the movie made is typically irrelevant to a writer who sold a story. Usually its just a percentage of the budget or a capped number. If they get a writing credit they might be able to negotiate some percentage of it. He likely paid them to use their story in his book, and a percentage of proceeds from the book and any movie rights deal was a part of that contract. Residuals likely wouldn't apply since... Michael Lewis didn't write the script or have any involvement in production of the film. He was paid for the story he wrote, and some of that money might have trickled down to the family (sounds like it did, and it sounds like Oher probably has it). Oher doesn't get all of that money either, since while it is his story - its their story as well. It's possible they negotiated that into some original contract with Lewis, but I doubt theres a huge bucket of movie money sitting around. Usually the movie money goes to the people in the movie, who wrote it, produced it, made it, and obviously the production company, distribution who bought it, etc. If it was "pay me 15 million or ill drag you through the media" it would still come across to me as a threat - legal or otherwise. I thought their response was pretty fair though. I think they're more likely getting royalty checks from the book than the movie though.

Wasn't he playing for milano? He was an absolute liability in coverage so they just used him more to rush the QB and play closer to the LOS as he was getting exposed in the run game against NE and KC. For the year he led the team in missed tackles. Was it chargers? I thought Seattle as he had a couple sacks and a FF to all but ice that one. -
Minshew is the new fitz, he'll come in midseason and out-play the other guy and they'll go into next season with no idea what to do.
