I thought the same. Sadly I started to mentally depend on him because of how important he quickly became to our success - I forgot what a mistake relying on Harvin is.
When I think of backup I think of two types of QB's. The first is one that come in and play in a pinch or have a short time to prepare and be ready to play - doesn't try to do too much and manages the game with hopefully few mistakes because of the conservative game plan. The second is someone learning behind the starter and learning - you hope your main guy doesn't go down so that it's not too early.
I don't see EJ as either of these types of QB's and I don't see this team needing the second type. In other words he's not the backup this team needs. On this team he should have been 3rd string.
Should be fairly easy to find a QB all you have to do is want to and everyone knows you can easily pick out players who will get hurt and stay away from them.
I'm not going to lie as a fan it was fun hearing Rex say all that stuff about building a bully and making predictions. But the truth of the matter is in today's NFL the bullies have been taken over by intelligent players that talk smack after they do something to you.
It's pretty clear our issue is that we're void of talent. All we need is a GM that gets more talented guys that can stay healthy, and a franchise qb. All very easily fixed by a forward thinking young GM.
I will be a band wagon fan from now on. If they start winning, I'll start getting involved. No more t shirts - directv - christmas BS. I'm finished spending time and money on this crap.
