Why doesn't the NFL make it a home-game for the Bills in alternate years...That way the Bills will lose only one home game to Toronto every other year. The NFL already does this with the London game without penalizing the same team every year. Ganesh I agree that the Bills could do a better job on that front. May be they run a helicopter service to the Stadium so that the business folks in Toronto can fly in/out of the game quickly.

Norv Turner doesn't coach their defense. -
The Obstacle Remover.... Lived in Pittsburgh PA for a long time, before back to where I was born and raised. Have been on the board for 10 years and on the news group for several years prior to that. TBD is home for all Bills stuff....Really thank SDS for this wonderful site.

Albert Breer article on possible team moves to LA
ganesh replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Due to the ownership situation, the Bills will always be in the LA conversation. The Bills, Jags, Rams and Raiders have question marks about long term ownership and hence LaLa land will always be enchanting to the new buyer...Who will not, when they look at the opportunity in LA vs Buffalo. Until one of these teams actually move to LA, the rumors will never go away. -
Time has a way of healing things, including the high stakes NFL.

Has Another Team Improved More Than the Bills ?
ganesh replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Steelers had a huge draft by filling holes on the OL with great talent in the 1st and 2nd round. Sometimes, your best moves are the moves that you don't make and there are probably some teams that did just that. The Steelers and Ravens probably had as good a deal as the Bills did. -
Why is it that former Bills players are not turning into hosts on local radio shows in Buffalo. I see a lot of that in Pittsburgh, but not in Buffalo. It also provides them with a good career path. I am assuming that most of the former bills players don't live in Buffalo post their Bills careers

And that one thing missing for a good long run is to have a Franchise QB. I hope the Bills will find that soon. -
Browns DT Phil Taylor possibly out for the season

The actual salary is not guaranteed until he is on the roster on opening day. Hence, it does not make any sense to release Edwards now. What if we have a similar season ending injury. Veterans are cap causalities either when FA starts (mainly due to them have Roster Bonuses) or in the 1st wave of training camp cuts when you are unlikely to have season ending injuries, Edwards is either traded now or will be on the roster till the 1st round of cuts. -
To be fair to Smith, the wildcat was run just a couple of times the whole season and he took a knee in most of KRs (again thanks to the rule change). Brad was not used well. Of course the Offense crumbled after the game against Washington and everyone was out of sync.

Agreed. We lost out on Maybin and Spiller due to stupid hold outs...especially Maybin. -

Did Cris Carter just make it easier for Andre to get into HOF?
ganesh replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think this is even an issue. I believe in the last two years of voting, Andre Reed was ahead of Carter in getting elected to the HOF. -
Looking back on the infamous trades.
ganesh replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention that we unnecessarily picked a RB with the 9th overall pick that he could not start a game in his rookie season and only got to start because Freddie was injured. We could have used that pick to a pass rusher or tackle in that draft. -
This Defense could be tops in the NFL soon

The "Ifs" are really big ones though to be ignored... 1. If Kyle Williams will be able to regain his Pro-bowl form since having surgery on his leg. 2. The team is switching from 3-4 to a 4-3 and also a change at the DC position. Will the players adapt to a new scheme quickly. 3. Do the LBs have it in them to get to the ball carriers @ the line of scrimmage. In spite of having Dareus, the run defense was still horrible last season. And these are just on the front 7 -
Name one realistic trade you would like to see happen...
ganesh replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually Mike Wallace is available. It is just that it will cost the Bills a 60M contract and also a 1st round pick (Though I believe the Steelers will take a 2nd rounder). The Steelers hold the upper hand in the negotiations and will not budge to Wallace's demand and he is likely to play on the One year contract and be a FA next season (Unless he stops being greedy and decides to give the home team a discount). -
That play got himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Probably his career highlight!

Good lord, the Pats just keep getting better
ganesh replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is not completely true. When Brady went down a few years ago, the Pats still made the playoffs that year with Matt Casell, and beat us twice that year. Of course, it also helped get Matt a 60M contract with Kansas City and proved that he is no better than our own Fitz. The Pats have a great system and it works. Whether Belichek is a genius coach or not, he is a great HC that can motivate a team to play at a high level. In the first two SB, it was all about letting your offense not make any mistakes and keeping the score low and then let your defense make the plays. Later on with a aging defense and no capable replacements for some of the shipped out players, the Pats turned into a scoring machine and focused on Offense. Getting these changes in place and making it work is what makes Belichek a Genius. The talent on offense doesn't match up. However, I hope our Defense (the strength of this team this off season) can put on the heat and neutralize their offense. The talent on offense doesn't match up. And in the same way Spiller is a pick that Gailey wanted for his offense and Nix Delivered. Prior to the draft, Gailey publicly informed that they were looking for a scat back and they got one in the 1st round. Agreed..Butler should have been fired on Draft day for his 1st round : Erik Flowers!

That might have been due the QBs that were playing for them. If the QB cannot throw, how do you expect the WR to catch a pass.
-
Also, I think just as Franchise QB is important, the success of a GM is determined by the hiring of the Head Coach and his coaching staff and their success with the drafted players. Some of the GM's picks are based on what the coach wants. For example, Dick Jauron clearly had the biggest influence in the drafting of Donte Whitner and more so on the not drafting of Haloti Nagata as he did not fit their Tampa-2 defense. Whitner sucked here for five years while Nagata has been a star in Baltimore.

And we could have had him locked up if not for the stupidity to make his a "Assistant Coach" instead of the Defensive Coordinator.

That was soooooo FUNNY
