Why not Naaman Roosevelt in the slot instead of Jones?
ganesh replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
why do you assume that he is not getting his fair shot. He has been with the Bills for the past few seasons and was with them in training camp. A team devoid of WRs and he was not able to make it to the 53 man roster. It is not like he is stuck behind starters on the depth chart. -
Any chance the Bills re-sign Merriman...
ganesh replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he had some gas left in his tank, a pass rush needy team (which are plenty around) would have grabbed him by now. Merriman is done. -
I think people are very nervous about this season opener. There is lot of expectation on this Bills team due to the fantastic off season. What if the Bills fall with a thud. This game may define their season.

Big Ben isn't as big of a scumbag as you thought
ganesh replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely agree with his stance. BTW, I think Ben has matured and cleaned up his act. This is completely opposite of what Andy Reid did when his son passed away...He just came to training camp....fricking training camp...What is up with standing up and being for your family. -
The question is: Does Chan have enough in his bag to identify those weakness and take advantage. If the Bills load up the box and pressure Sanchez, this game is ours to lose.
-
This is Freddy's team on Offense and Kyle Williams on Defense. Ideally I would like Wood to be the 2nd captain on Offense, but I understand that the QB gets the glory.
-
It really doesn't matter. The difference is not that huge. Naman has played for the Bills the past two seasons and has 256 yards 1 TD. Also, no one is yet to pick him. If he was really that valuable, then he would have been picked as the #4 or #5 WR by others. I would have preferred to have Deon Branch who could have provided the Veteran leadership this group so sorely lacks.

The NFL must be really lucky to have such a great start to the 2012 season with the following great or interesting matchups: 1. A rejuvenated Cowboys against the Super Bowl champions and a divison rival to boot in the Season Opener TODAY - Cowboys @ Giants 2. A division rivalry to see who will give the Pats the run for their money - Bills @ Jets 3. Two playoff teams from last year competing for the super bowl and another divisional rivalry - Bengals @ Ravens 4. Two time Super bowl champion Vs Return of the QB King - Steelers @ Broncos 5. A dream NFC championship that never happened last year, but now you can catch it up in Green Bay - 49ers @ Packers 6. Who is going to battle the Broncos for the AFC West crown, another divisional matchup on Monday Night Football - Charges @ Raiders 7. Is it the beginning of the Skelton era in Arizona and Wilson era in Seattle? Another divisional rivalry on the west coast - Seahawks @ Cardinals 8. Are these guys contenders or pretenders. Both had good off seasons - Falcons @ Chiefs.

when brooks goes to ir...

If one of our top WRs get hurt, then I think Nix will be on the phone dialing up Deon Branch. -
I don't know how you can call the WR vs CB match up as even. The Jets have two very good CBs in Revis and Cromartie...The Bills have just one bonafide WR. Even if Jackson does better than Revis, I just don't know if the other WR can step up against Cromartie. The advantage clearly goes to the Jets on this. The Bills OL has not had the continuity in the off season that is needed for it to gel. I am actually hoping that Hairston starts at RT instead of Pears for this game and I hope Wood comes back to his original form. Still that Jets defensive front seven is outstanding. I have to give the advantage to the Jet here too. Another frightening matchup is the Jets TEs against our LBs. Dustin Keller could have a field day with our LB crew if Sanchez gets the time to throw.

I think it will be a CB. They will pick a WR when they let go Thigpen in a couple of weeks. -
Also, if you are inactive for the game, do you still get your full pay check for the game?

Will Chan spring the no huddle on the Jets.
ganesh replied to Tom stahl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope not...They stunk up the joint three weeks ago...This team needs to Run the Football....and Run MORE of it......They have two weapons on that side of the offense and they need to use that... -
What....No Smack Talk? Bills vs Jets
ganesh replied to Rockinon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is 4-1 against the Bills with the lone loss coming in his first game against the Bills. He definitely has our numbers. He did throw a ton of interceptions a couple of seasons ago when he was pressured. Under pressure he is no different than Losman Our offense is yet to figure out the 3-4 defense in the last decade...All QBs from Rob Johnson, to Losman to Edwards to Fitzpatrick have struggled to read disguised coverage against 3-4 defenses. Let us see if the offense can turn that corner this game. It would be a good test against a top 10 defense. especially when we have been able to give them wins from sure losses in the past three seasons starting with the Losman fumble.. -

Sanchez has always played well against us and hurt us badly. He is 4-1 with the lone loss coming in his first game against the Bills. Last year he had two outstanding games to put away the slumping Bills. We need to play him better as if he is given time, he can make things happen. Sanchez Record against the Bills (W/L = 4-1 and DNP in the Season finale in 2010 as the Jets had already qualified for the playoffs) 2011 - @ BUF - 20/28 230 1/1 W (27-11) 2011 - Vs BUF - 17/35 180 4/1 W (28-24) 2010 - @ BUF - 14/24 161 2/0 W (38-14) 2010 - Vs BUF - DNP 2009 - @BUF - 7/15 104 1/0 W (19-13) 2009 - Vs BUF - 10/29 119 0/5 L (13-16) -
For me it is always great to see the Helicopter fly overs right before the Marine Corp Marathon on the last Sunday of Every October.....That brings the best out of the 40K+ runners and the 100K+ spectators on board to witness it.

I can't wait for Sunday to be here....Go Bills... Thanks to everyone on the board for keeping this off season interesting and meaningful. While we all may not agree to everything the Bills did, I hope everyone of us will be cheering for our beloved team come this Sunday afternoon. -
Lynch was a starter here and is the starting RB in Seattle and most of the Pundits rank him in the top 10-15 RBs in the league Whitner started for the Bills for FIVE years and continues to start for the 49ers Kyle Williams starts for the Bills and went to the Pro Bowl Levy was the reason Jackson was even added to our team Trent Edwards did start for the Bills for many games. Marv may have goofed in drafting his right side of OL in Dockery and Walker, but then so did Nix with his goofy signing of Green. Marv may have signed the crappy Jauron...but then Nix did allow Gailey to hire Edwards only to fire him after 2 seasons...and also changing their style of play from 3-4 to 4-3...at least the Jauron led team consistently used the stupid Tampa-2. I don't think Marv had that bad of a GM position. He solidified and re-united the organization after the 4 years of dictatorship under Donahoe....He bought fans back to the stadium. Give credit to him where he is due. At this point Marv and Nix have the same record.....zero playoffs for their respective squads.
-
Also, once Brooks goes to IR on Tuesday evening, they will sign another CB, most probably one of the folks they let go.
-
The biggest problem is not the actual drafting, but more often the changing of the coaching staff and the style of play. We have been constantly caught in the scheme change of going from a 3-4 (Phillips) to a traditional 4-3 (Williams) to the crappy Tampa-2 (Jauron) to the ill-advised 3-4 (Edwards) and now back to the traditional 4-3(Wannstedt). That is 5 scheme changes in 12 seasons....Where is the continuity to building a good team.....Good teams like the Steelers and Patriots may have changed their coordinators, but their scheme has not changed much (may have evolved depending on the necessity). Every year you draft players for the current scheme, only to have that scheme over turned....Good players like Pat Williams, Takeo Spikes, Poz, Kevin Mitchell, Whitner have been caught in this scheme-change flux and the Bills have not been able to settle down to play one style of defense. The Bills needs to stop this and pick a staff and scheme and stick with it for at least 4 seasons together. They are more likely to have success with it and the draft is likely to have better returns as indicated with the drafting on the offense.
-
I would definitely have to give the nod to Tom Brady. Montana stunk up 3 qtrs of the game and then did magic in the 4th qtr to bail them out....On the other hand Brady and his offense has dominated the league for the decade with some outstanding quarter backing. Brady put fear into the opponents...

Bills Keep 5 WRs Including Brad Smith & TT and TJ as QBs
ganesh replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question is going to be: Who is going to be inactive on game day as we can dress only 46. When you have 6 WRs a couple of them are going to be inactive on game day. Now who is going to sit. -
2. With the handsomely paid pass rusher Mario Williams being as good as advertised, the Buffalo Bills' new 4-3 defense will take a significant step forward under new coordinator Dave Wannstedt, leading to the end of the team's NFL-worst 12-year playoff drought. The Bills will close enough of the gap that exists between them and the Patriots in the AFC East, leading to a 10-6 record and a wild-card berth.
