A tell tale sign, re: Gailey is done!
ganesh replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Jackson is not ready, why bother dressing him and wasting a roster spot. At least Thigpen knows the play book. What bothers me is as to why Jackson is not ready. Is Gailey's offense that complicated or is Jackson dumb? -
This was one time, the owner definitely meddled...But why is that being extended to say that he is responsible for every other failure of this team... In defense of Ralph, the wins in 1999 came due to a stout defense and game management by Flutie. Flutie stunk up the joint in quite a few games. It is not as if Flutie was a franchise QB. And to Rob's defense, he won that game for us before our esteemed special teams blew it. Stop blaming Ralph for everything.

Our two biggest weaknesses...
ganesh replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is not as simple as taking these statistics and pasting a picture that the problem is not Fitz. Several times, Fitz overthrew his receivers. Threw those 7 picks at inopportune moments and showed no emotion to fightback after the defense gave up those points. The real problem is though we have stopped running the ball effectively in the last two losses. That issue lies squarely on Gailey's shoulders. -
The talent is there more-or-less like many NFL teams...,meaning there are holes at different positions. But the difference is that those teams are winning because they have a better coaching staff.....The Steelers have lost their best OL and still Rothelisberger can throw consistently for 250+ yards per game and their defense keeps them close. You give our team to Dick Lebeau and he will make it one of the best defense. Even the Patriots are rather week at different positions...Their OL is in a mess. Their DBs are pretty average...Their RBs are average (but we have made kings out of them).
-
Actually, the biggest thing learned by Teddy Bruschi about NFL was : "It is just a game" and you have to play your heart out for it.
-
You need two RBs, but the 2nd one has to be complimentary....Both cannot share the ball during the same phase of the game. When Spiller was the only RB, our running game clicked (Just like when Freddy was the only back last year at the beginning of the season). We need to live Spiller in the game to get the rhythm....Freddy should stay inactive until his knee is fine.
-
Moorman played himself out of this roster by playing lousy...plain and simple...And Powell was ready to be signed by some punter needy teams. The team had to think for the long term....Right now Punting nor the captaincy provided by the Punter is the least of the problems for this team. There are still many veteran players in this team including Williams, Kelsay and Mario who can provide the voice.

The Gailey Era Is All But Over
ganesh replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need a QB though...Even Belichek could do nothing without a true QB either in Cleveland or in New England. I agree...The two RB approach is not working as both Jackson and Spiller (and RBs in general) are rhythm players....You got to feed the ball to these guys consistently to let them make plays. Spiller was outstanding when Jackson was on the bench. They need to pick one of these guys and stick with them (Possibly Spiller). -
We are not going to get an DC from the outside at this point in the season. If Wanny is canned, then one of the position coaches would have to take the role. I just don't see who has the pedigree to be the coordinator. May be Bob Sanders. The offense is still the bigger problem. They cannot convert good special teams play, are very careless with the ball and cannot put points on the board against good teams.
-
The Blitz doesn't work, when you can run the ball effectively.... Williams and Dareus just had two horrible games in a row!
-
Unfortunately the reason the best coaches don't want to come is to be in the middle of ownership change, if Ralph goes to heaven during their tenure. If Wilson would simply sell the team (or major part of it) to a younger owner the "star" coaches wouldn't mind coming to this team. The team does have talent....It is simply not executing and some experienced coaching can save that.

My Thoughts on the Team for what it's worth
ganesh replied to Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's Eric's rookie picture. Much better than the somber looking wood after these two blow out losses. I agree that this offense has been horrible with some bad throwing...Also, the 2 RB system is just not working...I think the Bills just need to go back to having Spiller being the main back until he sucks...There is no rhythm in this offense. Having said all that it simply does not excuse this defense from wilting like that. Also, where are the INTs....games are won with turnovers and avoiding turnovers...We simply haven't been able to generate turnovers inspite of teams throwing so much at us....The schemes have simply not taken advantage of the strengths of this team. -

They played two better teams (Teams that went to their respective championship game last year) and lost....Previously they played two lousy teams in Kansas City and Cleveland and won... Moorman's loss has had zero impact on this defense. The coaching is bad all around. I believe this team has enough vocal leaders in Barnett and Williams. The problem is both of them are playing lousy at this point of time. They have no credibility to question the rest of the team.

Fewell chose Fitzpatrick as his QB....Enough said. -
My Thoughts on the Team for what it's worth
ganesh replied to Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it the players or the scheme to put them to success. Sure they don't have play makers at the LB position...but that front four is supposed to be dominant. This is simply poor coaching. -
Bills – 49ers Flashback: Battle of future Hall of Fame QBs
ganesh replied to Jim Gehman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK...In the past twelve years...Obviously no playoff games... 31-0 to open the season against the Patriots - This has to be the most memorable game for us in the past decade. Last years game against Denver, where we dismantled the Tebow magic. Again a game against Denver a couple of years ago when we won with Trent Edwards Last years whacking of the Redskins in Toronto with 9 sacks was pretty enjoyable Rob Johnsons's game against Kansas City Chiefs J.P Losman's game against the Houston Texans (Last play TD) Trent Edwards game against the Redskins (Won by Lindells FG, Sean Taylors memorial game) Those three games gave us hope that we may have just found our future franchise QB....only to fall apart later......Sigh! -
It is more of how they have lost to two of our division opponents, especially when one is not even any good. The bigger issue is how does Gailey accept the team turning over the ball 5 teams in the game. The team must be made responsible for that.

Who will be the Bills QB next year
ganesh replied to THE GASH STATION's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Flynn lost his job to a 4th round rookie for Gods Sake....Let us move...I agree with another poster, that we should stop picking from other people's garbage and should draft our own QB. -
The difference between Jim Harbaugh and Chan Gailey
ganesh replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there are many... Harbaugh was coaching Stanford, in the Bay area....where the 49ers call it home.... It is 70 degree weather in SF through the year....6 months of winter in Buffalo The 49ers were a slightly better team than the Bills in terms of talent (Not much difference though) Uncertainty with the Bills ownership....Say whatever you want....Coaches never feel comfortable, if there is going to be a change of guard in ownership in the middle of their coaching term. The 49ers probably also offered him more money and control than the Bills. Agree...In all those years before the arrival of Harbaugh, the 49ers and Bills were picking almost at the same spots in the draft and had similar records... After Harbaugh's arrival, they are winning with great defense and good special teams...Their offense just gets by. The closest we got to a similar coach was when we had Mike Mularkey and that was the only time we had a winning record (9-7). -
Patriots @ Bills 9/30/2012 Game Thread
ganesh replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When you are the QB and make so many critical mistakes, you are the one to take the blame. I saw ZERO emotions from Fitz today. While the defense gave up 6 TDs in those last 6 drives, Fitz did not do any favor for the defense...This loss is squarely on Fitz and the horrible Run defense. -

Brady showed how to throw the ball to the outside, where only his guy can catch it....Fitz was just horrible.
