Economics/Futurist Question
BiggieScooby replied to CosmicBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In 75 years the European union will have merged with Japan, Canada, U.K. and the U.S. to create a global fiat currency backed by the Pan-American-Euro-Pacific (PAEC) Central bank. Synthetic oil will have been perfected as scientists will have figured out a way to make actual oil using (carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, and trace elements). Magnetic bullet train levitation (with hydrogen fuel, and battery propulsion) will have been perfected with the ability to bring trains of Bills fans from Toronto, Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo to the Niagara Falls Bills stadium at speeds approaching 300mph. Economies will begin producing all the goods needed for consumption within city limits - as economies localize production. -
IS MICH ST A LEGIT NATIONAL CONTENDER?

I'd say Ohio State is a potential road block and Boise & ND could make things interesting. -
Why did Chan keep [Smith and McGee]
BiggieScooby replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McGee is a good player when healthy and a veteran leader. Just the fact that Smith can convert on 3rd and short - which takes away from the pounding that Jackson & Spiller take is a huge bonus. Having him provides depth at a number of positions. -
John Elway is the greatest QB I have ever watched in a live game. Brady might play the most consistent, but Elway had all the tools. After Elway I'd have to give props to Peyton Manning.

Gold standards aren't feasible due to their limited quantity. There has to be a certificate between the buyer and his or her gold. Money is fundamentally a promise. The extension of credit needed to be "commoditized" in some form - gold has long been the commodity of choice that helped establish a credit based currency system. The basic tenet of any credit based monetary system is that the extension of credit should be used to finance productivity. Where credit based systems self-destruct is when credit extension is used to speculate on rising asset prices. When the rate of credit expansion slows you get a financial crisis as asset prices begin to plateau or decline as investors retreat from the market. MDP is right in that money is loaned into existence thanks to fractional reserve banking.

Remember that KD in CT is a staunch conservative who thinks that unions are bad, hence he will put up with these DII refs until they screw his Bills. Yet he will continue supporting his union Buffalo Bills players so long as they don't talk about their brotherhood.

Best part of Condi's speech was immigration reform a huge issue to her home state and elsewhere. When will mainstream Republicans get onboard the reality train?

I blame your party mascot. I'm fine being an ass. We don't throw peanuts but we will take a crap on Fox News cameramen.
-
Apparantly in the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party it's okay to throw peanuts at a black camerawoman and say "this is how we treat animals." This new low earns the Tea Party a new name the Peanut Party. Congrats! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/2012/08/29/wolf-blitzer-cnn-racist-attack-camerawoman_n_1841316.html?utm_hp_ref=media

Paul Ryan & Condi Rice represent their party well. I believe that would be their best ticket in 2016.

do you guys think mars one is possible?
BiggieScooby replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know what/who/how but given the fact that Archimedes was only 2200 years ago and to see how far we've come, it's not unfathomable to think our understanding of science will be far advanced in 35000 years over our current understanding. -

BiggieScooby replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Put on a comparative level we are to Mars, what Christopher Columbus was to America. Within 500 years it is highly probable we will have colonized Mars and beyond. The nearest star is 35,000 years away with present technology. Given advancements in our understanding of physics I'd say we will be traveling near light speed within the that time period. My only regret is we are still living in a primitive society when compared to technology 35000 years in the future. -
The media will blame the Army Corps of Engineers if the levees fail. The Tea Party will blame the victims - that is what they do best.

Eric Cantor's worst nightmare
BiggieScooby replied to BiggieScooby's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Remember LABF, Obama and Boehner had the "Grand Bargain" on the table - $4 Trillion in deficit reduction. It was your "tea" party wing led by Cantor & Ryan who said they couldn't do this because it would raise taxes, thus violating their pledge to Grover Norquist. As for my personal opinion on our government debt I personally endorse any efforts that will cut our deficit. As sensible centrists from the Democratic & Republican party both know we can't reduce our deficit entirely through cutting spending and / or increasing taxes. We all know that Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security need to be restructured to remain solvent in the upcoming decades. As a post baby boomer I understand the demographic shortfall the baby boomers lack of pro-creation and the shrinking of the family size will have on our entitlements; 3 to 1 workers to beneficiaries for Social Security, versus 7 to 1 in the 1930s through the 1970s. I am interested in how Romney can side-step this economic reality. His solution is to further cut taxes, privatize Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher program where private insurance companies will be forced to "fight" for my generation’s business when we become seniors. This sounds very similar to George W. Bush's plan. We know his tax cuts exploded the deficit, and that the majority of Americans like S.S. & Medicare and prefer a guarantee over a private market subject to market value fluctuations. Romney's only chance is to convince the baby boomers that their entitlements are okay, but their kids are screwed. Will my parents’ generation sell-out their children? -
