  1. He was an absolute beast tonight. Played the role of safety valve most of the game but also showed off his hands downfield, and his blocking was excellent. He's really upping his game as this season goes on.
  2. The article also touches on the incredible longevity of his career. Another thing to consider is they did not have the modern turf they use today in the NFL. The gridiron in Rich Stadium was basically a parking lot with a green outdoor patio carpet on it. Another quote - As a member of the NFL Competition Committee circa 1990, Polian recalled the group considering a suggestion from someone in the league to outlaw blocking below the waist. It went nowhere, but not before Polian had a memorable exchange with Dolphins coach Don Shula. “Coach Shula said, ‘That’s ridiculous. How are you going to block Bruce Smith if you can’t block below the waist?’” Polian said. “I jokingly said, ‘I’m for it.’ Coach Shula laughed and said, ‘Sure, you would be. If we had that rule, nobody would ever block him.’”
  3. That, is a very good article. “Keep in mind, Reggie and I were the best of friends,” Smith said. “I loved Reggie to death. We were two completely different styles of players. Reggie was built for power. He’s like a Mack truck. I guess I was the sports car. We didn’t talk about this very often, but we did have one or two conversations about it. Reggie said, ‘Bruce, if you ever played in a 4-3 defense, you would have never been touched.’ And I agree with that.
  4. To quote Tom Jackson, "KNOCK IT DOWN"
  5. I usually just laugh at these "Git 'R Dun" threads, but this one actually has merit if the team thinks Brown will be out for a while.
  6. Not a factor really, I've heard his era is over.
  7. You need to re-read that article. Pegula was the only one banging the table for Mahomes. Whaley and Monos weren't picking him at 10, and naively thought he would be there at 27
  8. Just to show how far kicking has come in the last 40 years, Mike-Mayer lasted 11 years in the NFL and boasted a 56.4% FG rate. In 11 years in the league he made 1 FG over 50 yds. He was slightly better than a coin toss every time he lined up to kick!
  9. I'm guessing he gets 2 more games, including another one against that generous Atlanta D. Credit the offensive gameplan for hiding his passing limitations, but that's the type of player than when you "make him be a QB" will fall apart real quick.
  10. They are arguably the worst defense in the league against the pass. The fact that the Saints play them twice in the next 3 weeks certainly played a factor into putting Brees on IR (has to miss 3 weeks now).
  11. https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2020/11/18/21573153/jaguars-yannick-ngakoue-pro-bowl-vote-vikings The 2021 Pro Bowl is already going to be weird enough, taking place in Madden, rather than on a football field — but Jaguars fans found opportunity amongst the chaos. They realized that if Yannick Ngakoue is named to the Pro Bowl, the Vikings, who traded for the defensive end back in August, will be forced to give Jacksonville a fourth round pick, rather than a fifth, due to escalator language in the trade. This was the lightbulb moment.
  12. I think some of you need to lay off the liquor and save up that money and invest in a shrink, because if a single play in the middle of November can do this to you, professional help is warranted.

  14. People act like Brady played for free. Clown takes.
  15. Belichick losing to the winless Jets on MNF would be the cherry on top of this weekend.
  16. This "window to win on a rookie QB deal" was always hogwash. KC gave Mahomes a half billion dollars -- their window to win is the next 15 years.
  17. For you degenerates -- there's a guy named Sheil Kapadia for The Athletic that is 73-46 picking ATS this year. 61% is pretty absurd.
  18. There's a nationwide flood alert due to the overflowing river of tears coming from the "F*ck your feelings" crowd. Look on the bright side Trumpsters, in 2 months you get to start whining about the national debt again!
  19. Yeah, it's good we went 8 years without a QB to eventually wind up with a QB that isn't as good as the one we could have picked 8 years ago. It's not the fact that Nix was wrong about Wilson being available at the top of the 4th, he was only about 20 picks off. That's fairly accurate for those rounds. It's that fact that he passed on a player at a position of ultimate importance. Regardless of how well Fitz was playing at the time, if you are infatuated with a QB you take the damn QB. Believe it or not Nix might actually still have a job if he did -- and the notion that Wilson wouldn't thrive here is just more homer BS that fans tell themselves (see Mahomes). Does anyone remember that we traded up to take T.J. Graham over T.Y. Hilton?
  20. “We felt he would be there with our first pick in the fourth round, but he wasn’t there. We waited a half-round too long.” No ****.
  21. Seattle is a joke, huh? Yeah...
  22. This team was never going to contend for a title this year. Step away from the ledge.
  23. 1 part "Beane knows Gettleman" and 1 part wishful thinking.
