Jim Schwartz took Eagles 30th ranked defense to top 5

In between that thought and "don't let that man leave the building," I'm not sure there was time to consider anything else like winning. -
Jim Schwartz took Eagles 30th ranked defense to top 5

There are some good points here. I'm not sure the 2014 season was an exception, considering Schwartz is excelling yet again, but that's not that important... What is important is that the front office made a mistake, and a lot of people commented initially on the absurdity of starting fresh on defense when that was what we were best at. I like Whaley, at least his acquisitions and his ability to build a team, but... he needed to have more gumption during the Rex hire. If he wasn't on board with the hire, he should have really used his role as a GM and made a stand. It might have gotten him fired, but sticking to his gut would eventually prove true and he'd rebound and probably be held in higher regard shortly thereafter. If he was on board, he and every front office member that decided Rex was the answer should be fired. I'm serious. It was a remarkably poor decision. Now, for The Big Cat - this isn't because I think Rex Ryan is necessarily terrible (he's very average - I assume we can agree on that) - it's because he absolutely was NOT the right coach for our team at that time. We needed to have continuity on defense. The FO should have tried to see what it would take to keep Schwartz as a DC and find an offensive minded HC. In the event that Schwartz was being difficult and was making waves about being disrespected, we should have made him the HC, with the caveat that he focus more on gameday on defense. We then could have recruited whomever at OC. Even if you don't agree with my plan, at the very least it is a plan...I'm not sure you can say the same about what the Bills ended up doing. I think Russ Brandon, Pegula and any other person in the interview room saw dollar signs with Rex Ryan, believed the hype and did not think about the best interest of the 2015 Buffalo Bills roster. Edit: a typo -
Your undying support extends to the front office as well?

Classic Bills bye week curse. Sorry for temporarily dooming you, New Orleans, Carolina, and Gren Bay.
-
With the way the Broncos and Chiefs miracle wins came in the final seconds... ...and knowing that those were two games we would be rooting for... ...is it possible that the Bills' curse temporarily extended to other teams during our bye?

Do you know objective means? It amazes me how calling out a player for not finishing makes people think it means you're just ignoring their entire game. I'm not some loony fan because I expect my QB to win with the game on the line. I have no idea why a million excuses make you feel better about his performance. To wrap this up nicely, here is an opinion and then a fact: I thought Tyrod Taylor played great (subjective), however he did not throw a game winning touchdown when we needed him to (objective). -

The defense gave up 3 points in the second half. The defense got him the ball back TWICE at the end of the game. The officials gave him the 15 yard roughing the passer after his monster 3rd and 21 pick-up that put him right in position to win the game. In order to blame things like line play, defense, officiating - you are trying to pretend we didn't have a chance to win it. I have said several times in this thread, Tyrod played his best game. He was truly impressive to play like that in a road game at that stadium. I wanted him to pull through at the end in the worst way and just prove me wrong so I can see that he actually can win with the game on the line. I'm not blaming ONLY him for the loss. I'm simply saying, he did not pull through...again. That's it. To deny it is to literally deny reality. -
Proof that the league has you right where they want you. I don't care about that game and probably wont watch it. It's Bills games only for me for here on out.
-
No one should fault you for drinking so heavily after this game.
-
No, we took the kicker off the field per the ref's fourth timeout call and spiked the ball. After the spike the playclock reset to :25 and they put in the K ball and took their time doing it.
-
He willed the team to get the ball back and have a chance to win the game. You have to love that effort. It was my favorite play of the game.

I guess I just really can't stand this excuse narrative. The defense didn't do great, but they got us the ball back when it mattered most. This has happened a few times this year. Tyrod picked up an incredible first down on the pass to Woods to extend the game-on-the-line drive, but then he really didn't do what we needed to pull through. You can sit there and type million and one excuses, trust me, this game had them. I agree all day about the refs, and the defense, etc. but at the end of the day he had first and goal with a chance to WIN THE GAME. What is it going to take for you guys to realize how important it is for your QB to win that game? I'm not saying it wasn't a difficult situation. I'm not saying it wasn't a crazy game. I'm simply saying that he could have put all of that crap on his back and rode the team to victory but he fell short. -

1. Enough with the name calling just because someone disagrees with you. That's how life goes. If you can't thicken your skin, I suggest you refrain from the message boards. 2. I certainly did not say that it would be a low-scoring game, and I am ROOTING FOR MY TEAM to win. This includes rooting for Tyrod Taylor. 3. This is the perfect time to discuss this. The game ended, it's my immediate takeaway. 4. On what planet can a QB have the game on the line, miss a throw, and not be judged? -

That's great and all...but I'd like my quarterback's best 2 minute drive to result in a score, y'know? And next time? How many next times does he need? -

Yeah it's a simile, I don't think rappers use those. Listen, I fully expect the excuses to fly wild. The problem is that I think Tyrod actually played his best game, but he didn't play a complete game. I don't think he cost us the game or anything like that. Again, all the million excuses aside, he had the ball with the game on the line 3rd and goal, 4th and goal. I just wanted to see the finish, is that too much to ask? It feels like it is with you guys lately. -

I agree with most of this. How you finish games is absolutely crucial and I refuse to overlook the end of this game no matter how bizarre the rest of it played out. -

Sure...doesn't negate the fact that he had the ball in his hand with a chance to overcome everything and fell short. I think Tyrod played unbelievable today. Like I said, easily his best game as a Bill. I really wish he could have finished it the way champions do. -

No doubt. It was easily his best game as a Bill. I wish he could have found a way to get it done at the end. -
Thank you for this.
