  1. I was going on the assumption of three teams - Saints, Bills, or Jets. Yes, the Vikings would be a good possibility of getting to the SB in 2019.
  2. Brees will most likely stay in NO. The Saints offer the most upside of returning to the SB vs the Bills or Jets in the near term.
  3. I wouldn't be surprise if we're going for Foles now that Tyrod has been traded. I don't see us going into next season with a rookie and Nate Peterman. I also don't see us giving up a large amount of draft capital to move into the top 5 for a QB.
  4. Best of luck in the future, Tyrod. Thanks for your contributions during your time in Buffalo. We could have done a lot worse than Tyrod as a bridge QB.
  5. Payton will still be featured in Papa John's commercials. He only sold his stake in the stores.
  6. Care to post the link where the quote came from? What you posted could mean anything, no context at all.
  7. Can't argue this. But I don't think Bortles is worth 22.5M/yr, either. He's another middle of the road QB that is over valued.
  8. I do hope they get a QB they like without moving into the top ten. Besides that, I'd like to see the DLine (two DTs and a DE) and OLine (G/C, RT) bolstered as well as a MLB added. Focus on the trenches as games are won and lost there. If we can't re-sign Gaines, we probably have to add a CB to the list. Too much needed to needlessly spend moving into the top 10 picks.
  9. I thought I remember reading (forget which site/article) that Miller suffered under Dennison's zone blocking scheme. Miller is more of a straight ahead power blocker.
  10. I'll agree that the Eagles made their own luck, as you put it. They liked what they saw in Wentz and went all in to get him...and it worked out. The Patriots with Brady, that was lightening in a bottle. They may have thought there was enough value to take a flyer on Brady, but there was no way they planned on a 6th round draft pick to become one of the greatest in his era. Either way, I hope Beane, McD and company see something in one of the QBs this year to take a shot with expectations being better than average he pans out. And ideally they won't have to spend a lot of draft capital to do so.
  11. In today's NFL, apparently he does. My biggest concern with Cousins is his penchant to turn the ball over at key times, which is why I question the amount he'll get. I don't think you can group Cousins with the Brady's, Brees', and Rodger's of the NFL. Above average, yes; clutch, Cousins is not until he proves otherwise. I don't think I'd want to pay him elite money to prove it.
  12. That is quite possible. Cousins is an upgrade over Bortles, but still not worth $25-30M/year in my opinion.
  13. Yes, it worked out for the Eagles. The same can be said for the Patriots where it worked out with Brady. Both cases, IMO, were pretty lucky.
  14. Can't say I blame them for not wanting to pay Cousin$ an obscene amount of money.
  15. Yes, that it is. With pure pocket passers being in the minority coming out of college, and people talking about spending outrageous amounts of money on QBs like Kirk Cousins, you have to wonder at what point are NFL offenses going to change and reflect more of a college style offense? Having a spread offense leaning QB running a WC offense just doesn't work, but that doesn't stop some OCs from trying (Dennison). At some point NFL coaches and OCs are going to have to change the way they run an offense.
  16. I agree that you need a franchise QB to have long term viability; we as Bills fans know that all too well after about 22 years. I'm just not sold that betting the house is the way to go since it is such a huge gamble and we have a lot of other positions to strengthen. I don't envy Beane and McDermott - tough spot to be in.
  17. Exactly my point. The same thing could happen by taking a QB by trading up and spending a lot of draft capital. I hear both sides of the argument (take the shot vs sit back); the down side to taking the shot is you can have a lot of regret, and pain, going forward.
  18. Point taken. Question: how do you view the Sammy Watkins trade up, was it worth it? IMO, there is no difference, aside from position, between that and trading up for a QB.
  19. Just for argument's sake, what if Carson Wentz did not pan out? How do you think Eagles fans would react...would the city of Philly still be standing? If you're going to move up that much (which I am against), you better be completely positive of what you're getting, which is almost impossible if you subscribe to most QBs as being a crapshoot.
  20. Geno's astute observation just invalidated every ship that has successfully sailed across the ocean. What's next, the sun revolves around the earth? Puddin head, no wonder why he sucks so bad.
  21. I agree with you. Defenses, especially DBs have been hamstrung by the rules that, IMO, overprotect WRs and promote higher scoring games. The NFL seems to disagree with this, though; it appears they feel that higher scoring games are more interesting and attract more fans.
  22. I agree with you, but my guess is he walks if we offered something like this. Gaines, like pretty much every other player, is looking for a high dollar contract over many years and as much guaranteed as possible. If we don't pay him, I think another team will; but Gaines is a gamble given his injury history.
  23. That's hilarious. There's some real gems, back and forth between Zay, his mom, and his dad. Click on Zay's and his mom's twitter and check out some of the basketball tweets.
  24. Yeah, I heard her saying J-E-T-S, but couldn't make out the rest. Not conclusive.
