3rd round drafted QBs since 2000: Chris Redman, Giovanni Carmazzi, Josh McCown, Dave Ragone, Chris Simms, Matt Schaub, Charlie Frye, Andrew Walter, David Greene, Charlie Whitehurst, Brodie Croyle, Trent Edwards, Kevin O'Connell, Colt McCoy, Ryan Mallett, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Mike Glennon, Garrett Grayson, Sean Manion, Jacoby Brissett, Cody Kessler, Davis Webb, CJ Beathard Russell Wilson is literally the outlier here, 1 guy. Yea, Foles just won a Super Bowl on the back of a MVP season by Wentz. They are the only 2 on this list to even play in Super Bowls. Wilson will end up being the only HOF out of this group. Compare that to the 1st round picks since 2000: Chad Pennington, Michael Vick, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, JP Losman, Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Campbell, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Matthew Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, EJ Manuel , Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch, Mitchell Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson There are 6 SB wins in this group and 6 QBs that played in a SB. There were another 5 that were a win from playing in the SB. There are also 4 HoFs with a possibility of Matt Ryan/Cam Newton/Andrew Luck getting there too. Are there some bad years? Of course, it's not an exact science. Finding QBs "organically" is a myth. The 1st round produces more, it's just fact.

My Latest Mock Draft with Bills Picks
Wayne Cubed replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just don’t see why, in this mock draft, Arizona is being proactive and going up to get their guy and yet the Bills and Beane think they are smarter than everyone and Jackson is the better pick and will wind up in their laps. -
My Latest Mock Draft with Bills Picks
Wayne Cubed replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Got to be BBFS. The most important position in all of sports and people want to go for second rate talent. Essentially what they’ve been doing for the entirety of the drought because that’s worked. The Bills have had talent on the roster during the drought. What has it got them?!? A drought! -
Michael Bennett - warrant out for arrest

Texas... -
There hasn't been a slam dunk since Andrew Luck and before that Peyton Manning, guess what... Good/Great QBs have still been drafted. I agree you improve your odds by selecting more, one thing the Bills haven't been doing, but you don't increase them by selecting lower grade prospects. There's a reason they are graded lower. We selected plenty of Levi Browns, Petermans, Trent Edwards and picked up FA Brohms, Fitz, Taylor... all lower graded QBs. Nothing has changed. Do you know what they Bills haven't done? Selected a QB high in the draft.

Deonte Thompson signs with Cowboys

I'm not sure, he was quoted recently on saying he's "on his way" back to full health. But the guy had knee and ankle surgeries. -
Deonte Thompson signs with Cowboys

Could be because of the injury to Matthews. -
Those act of the trades themselves aren't symptoms of why this franchise has been bad. Hell, 3 years later the Bills made the playoffs without Sammy Watkins. That trade had no effect. Reports are if they stayed put they really liked Eric Ebron, how is that any better?
-
And what reckless trades would that be? Trades don't set franchises back. Not being aggressive in finding a guy to fill the most important position in sports, certainly does though.

I have a scar on my forehead from an accident when I was a kid, am I also a tough SOB and a fighter? Or did I need to play football for Alabama too?
-
So as previously said, carry on doing what the Bills have been doing for the past 21 years...

Zay Jones just impacted our draft
Wayne Cubed replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So about that QB position... McCarron and Peterman, yea that might be the weakest position. There is literally not an NFL starter there. -
Seriously? Is that why they were trying desperately to trade up to get Roethlisberger, because they had Losman among the best? Or how about this, if he was ranked as "among the best" why didn't they select him with the 11th pick?

Zay Jones just impacted our draft

That would be Terrance Gray, Director of College Scouting standing next to Giants Dude, Pat Schumer. -
They traded up from the 2nd round to draft the 4th ranked QB in the draft, they drafted Lee Evans with their first pick in the 1st round. This is exactly what is being suggested in this thread. Don't move up and grab one of the top prospects and instead draft pieces that will end up leaving in FA and take a second tier QB. So yea, tell me how that worked out? It didn't but lets do it again.
-
So basically the Bills should carry on doing what they've been doing for the past 21 years. It's been working so well for them, I don't see a problem with this at all.

Rumor: Trade up discussion with Giants
Wayne Cubed replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His name is in small print at the bottom of every single draft profile page. Its his grade. I’m sorry but you’re wrong. And if you look you can see the draft “grades” have changed throughout there inception. Andrew Luck was a 97.0 for example. That just means someone else was doing it. -

Yea, according to Lance Zierlein. -
Rumor: Trade up discussion with Giants
Wayne Cubed replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense, but those player grades are from Lance Zierlein and are in no way influenced by Daniel Jeremiah. It is his and his grade alone. So no, those aren’t Daniel Jeremiahs grades or a combination of other scouts. It is literally one guys opinion. Lance Zierlein thinks Darnold is a 7.0 and now your going to ask, who’s Lance Zierlein. -

What?! Let’s try this again. My point is about.... wait for it... DRAFT ASSETS, waisting draft assets didn’t cripple this franchise. I’ve made my point, I’m done here. -

Don't say “better part” of a decade when you mean 5 years then and you won’t end up looking silly. Even if you did mean 5 years the Watkins trade of draft assests set the Bills so far back, they ended a 17 year playoff drought 3 years later. ??<——— I can do this game too -

Oh wow, let me rephrase. You said giving up draft assists could set back this team 9.99 years... How’d I do? -

He's being obtuse on purpose, right? Yea I wouldn't be sad one bit. And I agree if you are aren’t doing anything at the QB position, when you don’t have one, you aren’t going anywhere. -

Jim Kelly landed in the Bills lap 35 years ago... so maybe it could happen again?!? Thats just crazy to think.
