  1. Now list all the QBs who were selected past the first round who busted from that same time frame, I'll wait. You know who were 1st round picks, John Elway, Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Steve Young(supplemental draft), Otto Graham, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning and Troy Aikman. Those represent 16 Super Bowl wins and 3 NFL Championships. If you throw in guys like Joe Namath, Phil Simms, Joe Flacco, Jim Plunkett, Len Dawson, Doug Williams, Bob Griese and Jim McMahon, thats 26 Super Bowl wins. Half. If you add Rodgers in there because he was a 1st rounder, thats 27. The other 25 have come from non-high first rounders. 9 of those wins are Brady/Montana. The 1st round QBs represent the most multiple SB winners. Elway, Bradshaw, Manning, Aikman, Manning, Roethlisberger, Griese and Plunkett have all won multiple times. Only Brady, Montana, Staubach and Starr have won multiples. Also, the 1st round Qbs have more Super Bowl MVPs than the non 1st rounders. And again, the majority of the non SB MVPs come from Brady/Montana. To me, it looks like picking a QB who wins multiple SBs is much more likely to happen picking one in the top of the 1st round. Picking HoF QBs? That looks like that can happen in any round. And yea you could pick a QB past the 1st round that wins a SB. Can a 1st round QB bust? Sure can but you know what? So can a players selected at 12, 22 and 53. I'm sure you don't have to look at past Bills drafts to know that.
  2. Some thoughts. The Bills are going to be a top 5 team in 2019? And then they can make their move for a QB how? How exactly are they going to do that picking from 27-32? So don't give up picks this year, which they loaded up on, but give up picks next year which they haven't? Pick a QB in 2019, which from the looks of it doesn't have great QB talent, and ignore the 2018 QB class which is rich with QB talent?
  3. It’s a difficult one. You put 4 good/great prospects together in a draft and you don’t get a consensus. That was always going to happen, imo. You put any of those guys in the 2013 draft and bam, there’s consensus, I would imagine. I’d say it’s very rare that there is consensus unless the players in that group are far less talented. I agree that Rosen is the most NFL ready QB coming out but then for some it’s their ceiling that makes them the best.
  4. You're assuming the Bills will have to give up this hypothetical farm to get their guy. I never said that. I said what the Jets are doing shouldn't effect Plan A, if Plan A is to go get their guy. That should still be the plan. Well, never finding your QB will also do that.
  5. The Bills were possibly ready to let Ritchie walk if he didn't take a pay cut, so I don't get how that changes Plan A. The Jets trading up has no effect on Plan A, if Plan A is to identify your guy and go get him. The Bills can still plan on doing it. Whether they are able to is another matter. "There are 4 very good/great QBs. There isn't consensus on who's the best. That doesn't mean none of them are good enough to become franchise QBS. And even if there was a consensus on the best, the Bills aren't selecting 1st overall, so would have no chance at getting that guy.
  6. Yup. Richie was going to be a hole in the lineup next year. Pretty soon Hughes spot will be a hole. Shady will be gone in a year or two. Another hole.
  7. And the Bills were prepared to move on from Richie!!! They wouldn’t have asked him to take a pay cut if they weren’t prepared to play the season without our. What if he said no, and they cut him because he wouldn’t?
  8. Wth are you even on about? Wow with your response. You’ve just rambled on about nothing I even said in my post. But since you brought it up why don’t you tell me if Sam Darnold is available at 12? What about Josh Rosen or Baker Mayfield? As as I said in a previous responses the Bills were prepared to move on from Richie, why the heck else would they ask him to take a pay cut? This doesn’t and shouldn’t change their draft plans.
  9. What aren't you getting? The Bills asked Richie to take a pay cut, they were ready to move on from him. Because guess what? If Richie says no, you can certainly bet they would have cut him. Whether Richie was playing or not was not critical to their early draft plans. You're quote has no bearing here, cute though. You choose to ignore the facts of how the Bills have handled RIchie's situation. They were ready to move on from him. Exactly. They had to know he could say no to a pay cut.
  10. I hope you love it, because you're about to see it. I love your strategy even more than mine. Pass on moving up for a QB because a Guard who was 35 decided to retired. Let me ask you this, if RIchie retires right after the season... does that change your draft plans too? But yes, lets stay put and draft keep our picks. We can trade up some other time.
  11. So let me get this straight. You have a chance to get a QB by trading up if one of the richest QB drafts in a long time. You've been making moves all of 2017/18 to get into this position. To secure a position that you haven't secured in 22 plus years and you are now going to change that because a 35-year old Guard retired? You don't think it's entirely possible the Bills have a plan in place for RIchie's replacement? Wow.
  12. Nice with the wise cracks. News flash, you don't have to play your rookie QB that you trade up for if your line isn't up to snuff. Hey, guess what, there are still Guard free agents out there too, crazy, I know. It doesn't and shouldn't change your draft board. Stop overreacting.
  13. Do they have to figure out the guard position this year? They can still trade up for a QB and get a guard next year or retool the OL in FA next off season. They don't have to play the rookie QB this year. There are also still FA guards out there.
  14. And a couple days ago he was on about "can't wait to get back to football" etc.
  15. Time to look at the list of FA Guards still out there.
  16. Right? A 35-year old guard retiring or leaving the team shouldn't change your position on what you do in the draft. Odds are you were going to be looking for his replacement in the draft anyways.
  17. Time to look at FA Guards that are still out there... maybe kick the tires on one.
  18. Richie just retweeted Vics and if you go to Tweets/Replies his respnose "I'm done" is there
  19. Odd way to go about getting more money, if thats what this is about. The Bills will still own his rights for the year, even if he wants to come back. Unless Bills release him instead of putting him on retired/reserved list. From stress?
  20. Just want to point out the Bills have pick 22... not 23. Carry on.
  21. No, no, all the Bills need is a decent QB. Not good or great... just decent. You know one that doesn't turn the ball over, keeps the game manageable
  22. So a decent QB is you plan... seriously?
  23. In 22 years, since Jim Kelly retired, a QB hasn't fallen into the Bills lap. It led to a 17 year playoff drought. That's really your plan?
  24. Why shouldn't they be using a 1st round pick on receiver? Says you? They rotate receivers in and out quite a bit. That's their game plan. WR is an important part of their offense. You're acting like they gave up their entire draft. They gave up a 1st round pick for a proven player and their 2nd for Watkins. There is no guarantee whoever they would've selected at 23 amounts to anything at all. The Rams still have a 3rd round pick and 3 4th round picks. They also have the entire 2019 draft. They also have $81m plus some rollover for 2019 salary cap and can lock up their core players. All of this before Goff hits his first big pay day. They are actually being pretty smart. They are signing short term deals and loading up on talent while Goff is in the early stages of a rookie deal. They aren't in cap hell. They can draft again next year.
