Richie Incognito Retires Via Twitter - Now Confirmed
Wayne Cubed replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And the Bills were prepared to move on from Richie!!! They wouldn’t have asked him to take a pay cut if they weren’t prepared to play the season without our. What if he said no, and they cut him because he wouldn’t? -

Wth are you even on about? Wow with your response. You’ve just rambled on about nothing I even said in my post. But since you brought it up why don’t you tell me if Sam Darnold is available at 12? What about Josh Rosen or Baker Mayfield? As as I said in a previous responses the Bills were prepared to move on from Richie, why the heck else would they ask him to take a pay cut? This doesn’t and shouldn’t change their draft plans. -

What aren't you getting? The Bills asked Richie to take a pay cut, they were ready to move on from him. Because guess what? If Richie says no, you can certainly bet they would have cut him. Whether Richie was playing or not was not critical to their early draft plans. You're quote has no bearing here, cute though. You choose to ignore the facts of how the Bills have handled RIchie's situation. They were ready to move on from him. Exactly. They had to know he could say no to a pay cut. -

I hope you love it, because you're about to see it. I love your strategy even more than mine. Pass on moving up for a QB because a Guard who was 35 decided to retired. Let me ask you this, if RIchie retires right after the season... does that change your draft plans too? But yes, lets stay put and draft keep our picks. We can trade up some other time. -

So let me get this straight. You have a chance to get a QB by trading up if one of the richest QB drafts in a long time. You've been making moves all of 2017/18 to get into this position. To secure a position that you haven't secured in 22 plus years and you are now going to change that because a 35-year old Guard retired? You don't think it's entirely possible the Bills have a plan in place for RIchie's replacement? Wow. -

Nice with the wise cracks. News flash, you don't have to play your rookie QB that you trade up for if your line isn't up to snuff. Hey, guess what, there are still Guard free agents out there too, crazy, I know. It doesn't and shouldn't change your draft board. Stop overreacting. -

Do they have to figure out the guard position this year? They can still trade up for a QB and get a guard next year or retool the OL in FA next off season. They don't have to play the rookie QB this year. There are also still FA guards out there. -

Time to look at the list of FA Guards still out there. -

Right? A 35-year old guard retiring or leaving the team shouldn't change your position on what you do in the draft. Odds are you were going to be looking for his replacement in the draft anyways. -

Odd way to go about getting more money, if thats what this is about. The Bills will still own his rights for the year, even if he wants to come back. Unless Bills release him instead of putting him on retired/reserved list. From stress? -

Just want to point out the Bills have pick 22... not 23. Carry on. -

Moving up to #2 = No Playoffs for the next three years

No, no, all the Bills need is a decent QB. Not good or great... just decent. You know one that doesn't turn the ball over, keeps the game manageable -

In 22 years, since Jim Kelly retired, a QB hasn't fallen into the Bills lap. It led to a 17 year playoff drought. That's really your plan? -
Why shouldn't they be using a 1st round pick on receiver? Says you? They rotate receivers in and out quite a bit. That's their game plan. WR is an important part of their offense. You're acting like they gave up their entire draft. They gave up a 1st round pick for a proven player and their 2nd for Watkins. There is no guarantee whoever they would've selected at 23 amounts to anything at all. The Rams still have a 3rd round pick and 3 4th round picks. They also have the entire 2019 draft. They also have $81m plus some rollover for 2019 salary cap and can lock up their core players. All of this before Goff hits his first big pay day. They are actually being pretty smart. They are signing short term deals and loading up on talent while Goff is in the early stages of a rookie deal. They aren't in cap hell. They can draft again next year.
-
Not really mortgaging their future. Were they going to get a receiver at #23 with Cooks ability? Probably not. As it sits now they have $81m in cap space for 2019, which doesn't include about $8m in rollover. They could easily sign Cooks and Donald to long term contracts. Suh seems like a 1-year rental anyways and then they still have their picks for 2019. Having Goff on a rookie deal allows them to do all sorts of moving and shaking.

Roquan Smith Scheduled to Visit Bills

This. Plus you aren't just going to bring in only guys you plan on drafting. If plans change they have to be ready. Whaley used to do the same thing. He brought in Watkins even though it was thought they had no shot at him and brought in guys that would be available around the BIlls original pick.
