  1. To the first question, who knows how far you could move, but in last years draft Miami was able to move from 12 to 3 by swapping 1st's and giving up their 2nd. That's 9 spots for their 2nd, to get into the top 5. So the precedent is there, that it may not take as much as some believe it will to get to where the Bills want to be. IMO, I think they want to be in the top 6, so they can guarantee one of those elite players in this draft. Oakland's sitting at 5 and Cleveland at 4. I think it's completely possible to get to those positions giving up a 3rd. Especially with Oakland. To the second question, I wouldn't be an advocate of that. But again, I don't think the Bills want to get to the #1 pick. Sure, they'll entertain the idea, hence the reports.
  2. I think it's entirely possible, and there is precedent with Miami last year. It's not like the Bills have been picking pro bowlers in the 3rd round recently (Graham, Sheppard who was traded away, Carrington, Youboty, Ellis). If you had the choice of taking one of those 3rd rounders or increasing your chances of hitting a home run in the 1st round, were talent is the highest, which would you choose?
  3. I don't know if I agree with this chart, seeing as Miami went from the 12th pick to the 3rd pick with swapping 1st's and a 2nd. That's a move of 9 spots and getting into the top 5 for a 2nd rd pick. I'm not saying that that's what it would take to get to #1 spot, but I also don't think they want to get to the #1spot. If they could get to the #4/5 spot, so Cleveland or Oakland, could only cost a 3rd round pick. And besides Goodwin, the Bills haven't been exactly knocking them out of the park in the 3rd round (Graham, Sheppard, Carrington, Ellis, Youboty, etc.)
  4. Finally, I've been waiting for an app for the iPad. Oddly, I'm not sure why he didn't just say that there is already a phone app.
  5. This whole deepest draft ever is an interesting take. I think people forget year to year drafts, but Mike Mayock had this to say about last years draft: "I think we've got more depth for the first three rounds than maybe anytime you and I have ever done the draft<Rich Eisen> and I'm not sure that the fifth pick is that much better than the 20th pick. Or the 30th pick. The good news is I think there's a lot of depth here. And there are a lot of really good football players." Sound familiar? This whole 'deepest draft ever' I feel like is rolled out every year, but the truth is, you won't know if it was the deepest draft ever until these players have been in the league for a couple years. EDIT: The biggest difference between last year and this year is the talent at the top of the draft, those elite 6 players. They weren't there last year.
  6. ________ __ ________ _______ ___ __ _____ _____________ _______ _____ ______________ __ _____ _ _______. Phew, feel better now that I got that of my chest.
  7. In my mind it makes sense to get up into at least that top 6, if the Bills truly want and elite player. I'm off the opinion it may only take a 3rd. We've seen precedence that the Dolphins were able to move from 12 to 3 last year with Oakland giving up only a 2nd. Does Oakland want to play ball again, so 9 to 5 for the Bills 3rd? I think it's certainly a possibility. Will it get them Watkins, thats another story.
  8. Thats a pretty long Chinese whisper: Watkins says that Doug Whaley says that they are going to move up to get him and then he tells the WR coach at Clemson, who then tells your friend, who then tells you. Not saying it didn't happen, but thats a long string.
  9. If you read the ESPN article on it, technically you aren't buying shares of "EJ Manual" you are buying shares Fantex Inc.
  10. I think a lot will depend on what Houston does. Lets say Houston takes a QB first, there might be a run on QB's after St.Louis (or maybe St. Louis is able to sell their pick) as QB needy teams scramble to get "their" guy. I could see that pushing these elite guys down towards the Bills. But if Houston doesn't select a QB and St. Louis makes their pick, if the Bills want to get one of these elite guys, they are going to have to trade up.
  11. To the bolded, could you please expand on why his cap number is too high? I don't get this mentality, in terms of a WR his cap number is right inline with his production, so why is it too high? And his cap number isn't keeping the Bills from signing anyone or from signing people in the future. If you want to talk cap hits why not look at the biggest, Mario Williams? Or if you want to talk about players not fitting the scheme who have a cap hit, why not look at Manny Lawson?
  12. Exactly, they could have their pick of WR at #4 for a rookies salary, but they fleece the Bills? Nice proviso btw "Something could change..." gotta give yourself an out, when/if your wrong.
  13. This is accurate as well, it certainly is a buyers market because this class is so deep. Add to that there isn't a consensus #1 rated overall QB and the cost of moving up goes down again. If a team that needs a QB (Houston, Cleveland, Jax, Oakland and maybe Minnesota) feels they can get their QB later and get more picks, it drives that price of moving up down.
  14. I agree and think they do want to move up, and I think it could happen fairly cheap. I don't think it'll be the #1 spot. Also notice how the Bills own John Murphy is now accepting of the fact that they may move up, when he previous thought it was idiotic: John Murphy ‏@JohnMurphyShow 13h Clowney? Watkins? Evans? Manziel? Who's worth trading up for if you're the #Bills? How much would you give up? Phone in your thoughts 7pm
  15. Sterling owns the team, yes they've banned him from the NBA, but couldn't he just keep the team anyways? Obviously, he would loose loads of money in terms of the worth of the Clippers and wouldn't have a league to play the team in, but it would be a big f-you to the NBA.
  16. I'm not saying I agree with what he says, cause the guy is a dick, but to be forced into a situation. I just don't agree with it. There are lots of varying opinions in the world. You pointed to a great one, gay marriage, should we start policing what people say about that? What about if someone makes a comment about a religion they don't agree with?
  17. Really? On his free time? I'm sure if the NBA started recording what the players said in private they'd hear some interesting takes. Hell, start recording the other owners while in private, makes it easy to get rid of who they don't agree with. See where this is going...
  18. So, freedom of speech, unless you are illegally recorded (yes that's right, this recording wouldn't hold up in a court of law) and own a million dollar company? Makes sense.
  19. Add to the bolded, only $200 million of the team purchased can be financed per NFL rules. That's a lot of cash to come up with... which Snyder struggled to do with the Skins'.
  20. I don't get his idea that some lawyer and loads of money will move the team. Shahid Khan, the Jaguars owner, who is worth billions could certainly move the Jaguars to LA or wherever and sell out a stadium and make more money. Yet the Jags are still in Jacksonville with no plans, only rumors of moving. Why is that? Could it be the stadium lease that would require them to pay millions to get out of? Maybe. EDIT: And on top of having to jump through all the legal loop holes, the move would have to be approved by the league and still pay a "yet to be determined" relocation fee.
  21. Pretty much this. Look at the NFL's active sack leaders and where they line up: 1. John Abraham (RDE) 133.5 2. Jared Allen (RDE) 128.5 3. Julius Peppers (RDE) 119.0 4. DeMarcus Ware (RDE/ROLB) 117.0 5. Robert Mathis (LDE) 111.0 6. Dwight Freeney (RDE) 108.0 7. Terrell Suggs (ROLB) 94.5 8. Osi Umenyiora (RDE) 82.5 9. Justin Smith (RDE) 82.0 10. Andre Carter (RDE) 80.5 11. Shaun Phillips (LOLB) 79.5 12. Trent Cole (RDE) 79.0 13. Mario Williams (RDE/LDE) 76.5 14. Tamba Hali (ROLB) 73.5 15. Elvis Dumervil (RDE) 73.0 So as we can see, it's dominated by rushers coming off the right side attacking the left tackle. Now that can be a bit skewed as these guys are getting old, but then let's look at the last 3 years, so we can see if anything has changed: 1. Jared Allen (RDE) 45.5 2. Aldon Smith (ROLB) 42 3. DeMarcus Ware (RDE/ROLB) 37 4. Robert Mathis (LDE) 37 5. J.J. Watt (DE) 36.5 6. Von Miller (ROLB/SLB) 35 7. Robert Quinn (RDE) 34.5 8. Chris Long (RDE/LDE) 33 9. Jason Babin (All over) 32.5 10. Charles Johnson (RDE) 32.5 11. Cameron Wake (RDE/ROLB) 32 12. Tamba Hali (ROLB) 32 13. John Abraham (RDE) 31 14. Greg Hardy (RDE) 30 15. Elvis Dumervil (RDE) 30 Looks like there are a couple rushing from the left, but still the list is dominated by rushers off the right side. It's not quite the "trend" that OldTimer is talking about. Right tackles aren't facing the best rushers and therefore shouldn't be paid like they are, nor IMO based on the data, does it suggest that this is changing.
  22. I do agree this could all be a smokescreen or the Bills want to trade up to 3 or 4 with how the QB's seem to be dropping. Whaley has said he hopes that all of the QB's go before the #9 pick because he'd obviously like the top talent in the draft to drop to the Bills. If it doesn't look like it's going to happen, and the Bills will be stuck looking at all those QB's or not top tier talent, I could see the Bills definitely trading up. They think they are a couple players away from the playoffs, I say go and get that player. Can't stand idle and wait for them to come to the Bills.
  23. I don't think it would end up being just a 2nd. If I had to guess, and the Texans are desperate to get out of that #1 pick it could be our #9, 2nd, 7th this year and the 2nd next. Or something like that. You just never know, depends on how desperate the Texans are.
  24. You can't compare Jordan to Barr and where he would go now. Jordan was thought of as the best pass rusher in last years draft. Hence why the Dolphins went up and got him. And that's my point, the Bills wouldn't be trading up for a QB. It's a possibility that a QB won't even go top #4. So that price the Redskins paid already isn't there. The Texans wouldn't really be able to fleece anyone for a ton of picks because that franchise QB isn't there, like it was when St. Louis traded out. I'm not saying it still wouldn't take a lot, just not maybe automatically two #1's.
