  1. If they want another game on TV, why not get rid of the bye for the #1 and #2 teams?
  2. A 4-3 just won the Super Bowl this year in Seattle. Yea, it was a 4-3 under, which just slides the line over towards the weak side, but it's still a line up and beat your guy defense. The 4-3 under has been around since Monte Kiffin came up with it in the 70s. I think fans get too caught up in the scheme, whether its 4-3 or 3-4 or hybrid or whatever. To me, it's not about the scheme, it's about the players.
  3. When Hughes was on the field last year, he lined up at the DE spot, albeit on passing downs, so he can play DE. I think the Bills know he can't play running downs and this is where DE depth is needed. Of course they could always go a bit bigger in the DE spot and put Branch there.
  4. May I suggest a bit of light reading? His definitions of positions are a little off, but it's a solid article. http://forgedinbuffa...int-4-3-fronts/ EDIT: Or better yet, read the article from Mat Bowen. It'll help you understand what teams like SF, Seattle are doing with the 4-3. I don't think Schwartz ever has said he would run a "traditional" 4-3 where you just line guys up at there position and do nothing else.
  5. 1. Johnny Manziel - Jacksonville 2. Jadeveon Clowney - Atlanta 3. Blake Bortles - Oakland 4. Khalil Mack - Houston 5. Mike Evans - Tampa Bay
  6. It's a good article and glad he points out last years Dolphins trade. Only cost them a second round pick to move from 12 to 3. Some very convincing arguments made.
  7. "Quarterback X was once a rookie just hoping to make an NFL team, and that he did so much during his first NFL offseason that the coaches named him the hardest worker in the team’s conditioning program." “You don’t find too many people playing that’s willing to sacrifice that much time to doing that,” Lewis said. “That’s why Quarterback X will always be considered one of the greatest of all time." A nice quote about a QB from a writer and then by Ray Lewis about that QB's offseason training. Any guesses who Quarterback X is? It's Tom Brady. No one worked harder in the offseason to become what he is now. I'm not saying Manuel will become Tom Brady, but the kid at least has the work ethic down. If you think working hard in the offseason means nothing and only "wins" matter, then I don't know what to tell you.
  8. Worst name I've ever came across was a girl we hired a couple years ago: Omunique, pronounced I'm unique.
  9. Sorry and no offense to you and your source but I still question JBJ's finances. Forbes has his net worth at around $200 million. If the bid is $1 billion, the NFL says controlling owner must own at least 30%, so $300 million. Seems he's a bit short. Sure, you might say he can borrow the money. But the NFL also says you can only finance $200 million in the purchase of a team. So JBJ and his group need to come up with $800 million in cash and JBJ himself would have to come up $300 million. Not saying it couldn't happen, but that is a really tall order.
  10. Moving to Toronto would be a complete gamble that would involve building a billion dollar stadium along with buying the team and paying a relocation fee. To recoup the money the new owner would surely have to have ticket prices fairly high. People already complained the ticket prices were too high for the Toronto series. Just seems like a pretty expensive gamble in an unproven NFL market.
  11. Smoke screen? It's like who will blink first. I think the talent in QB's this year isn't top 10 overall talent, but getting "your" guy at QB trumps that.
  12. I always thought Jeoffry would get his, I was hoping he would be tortured a bit, but I enjoyed it none the less.
  13. Awesome, now that that's settled.
  14. I filled mine out a couple weeks ago, but there are few you could possibly get right: 1. The Thanksgiving game. 2. They like to close the season against divisional opponents, so 1/3 chance there.
  15. Must be a slow day in terms of NFL news to report this. Eagles asked, Bills said no. What a story.
  16. Put me in the "wait and see" camp for Manuel. I'm certainly willing to give "the most important" position on the team a little time to develop. Why is it that fans say, "it takes X years for position X to adjust to the NFL" but we aren't willing to give the QB position the same? Where has all this need for immediate verification of players come from? Yea, players have come to the NFL and been success right away. But, I'm willing to bet that more of them have needed a little time to develop than the one's with immediate success. And, in the end, the Bills have said that's their plan, they are happy with Manuel. So all we as fans can do is wait and see
  17. Why wouldn't he just say he has no interest in buying the Bills? Why be coy about it? His statement could have been to reaffirm fans in Boston, because maybe he doesn't want to them to think he's selling them and have them worry. I'm sure the Bruins fans would as excited about a new owner as any sports town would be, not very.
  18. +1 Someone else will come out of the woodwork as being the "front runners" next week. And this is the way it'll work, until they are sold. Tim falls to mention that his take on Bon Jovi first acquiring the team and then moving them, is his opinion.
  19. Well lived indeed. Condolences on your loss.
  20. Link isn't working. Possibly because it's the mobile link? http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/jacobs-family-reportedly-leads-list-of-bills-suitors-with-local-ties-20140406 (the non mobile link)
  21. If it doesn't have brail on the number pad, it's a skimmer.
  22. It's a good deal in my mind. $1.2m this year, plus $600k bonus. It's cheap and good insurance in case Evans is gone. Even next year, his base is only $5.2m, so $8m for 2 years from a fairly young receiver who has produced. This puts pressure on Graham. I think it'll be Williams/Woods on the outside, with SJ in the slot.
  23. I never said a trustee is an owner. A trustee in this instance, is an administrator of a will. But an NFL team can't be owned by a group or trust without having someone with controlling interest. A majority stake. A controlling owner. EDIT: Mary Wilson can be a trustee of Ralph Wilson's will AND be controlling owner of the Bills.
  24. RIght, but the NFL cannot be run by a group of individuals, there needs to be a majority owner. Hence, controlling owner, not named sole owner.
