Mary Wilson - Controlling Owner?
Wayne Cubed replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where is it stated that the trust does not exist or that the team is not run by the trust? Ralph Wilson was the sole owner. Mary Wilson is now controlling owner. See the difference. As controlling owner she can't just do as she please, if she could they would have named her sole owner. The NFL needs to recognize a majority owner of the team, a controlling owner. It could very well be that there a multiple trustees and that Mary, in the will, was named as the head of the trust. -

You are quoting the update incorrectly. She is controlling owner, not sole owner. Big difference. If the team is in a trust and Ralph made her head of the trust, she would be in the NFL eyes controlling owner. -

RIght, the title of the thread is incorrect. Mary Wilson was named controlling owner, not sole owner. There's a difference. -

Trip to Ireland . . . . advice needed.
Wayne Cubed replied to B-Man's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Having lived and worked in the UK for a number of years, here's my advice: * Spending..........using credit/debit card for everything vs "changing" cash Definitely use your card(make sure you tell your bank and double check that they understand), you'll get a better exchange rate from your bank than you would from those awful cash exchange places * Cell phone usage.....cost ? need? text?......Chargers ?? This one depends. If you have a smart phone and don't need to be in contact with people 24/7, lots of places have wifi or free wifi where you can connect your phone. If you need to be contactable 24/7 check with your phone provider. * Tablet........my wife never goes anywhere without her Samsung pad....lol Tablet is definitely better than laptop and again, you'll find a lot of places with wifi. * car rental vs daily bus pass. We aren't on a tour ...have rail tickets betwen cities already, others say the pass works well. I'd say public transport. Trains/buses are cheap and if you'll be in the city most of the time it's easy to get around. * Dining ?.........Pub food okay ?............we'll be in there anyway. This is a tricky one. Pub food CAN be great, but it depends on the pub. There are loads of "chain" pubs like Weatherspoons, Toby Carvery etc. that just microwave their meals. So if you are looking for authentic cuisine, I wouldn't suggest that. Most hotels have a pub attached to them as well, these are generally chain pubs, so I'd avoid them as well. There are also normal restaurants that aren't pubs. My suggestion would be to look on TripAdvisor for places to eat, read people's reviews and build yourself a nice list of places you want to eat that way you can avoid disappointment. If you aren't bothered about the experience, any old pub will do. * Weather (supposed to be in the 40 - 50's ) we weren't really going to pack much Dress like you would dress for upstate in the spring. Some days may be warm and dry, some wet and cold. Layers are your friend and definitely pack a water proof jacket. Any other questions feel free to ask. -
Donald Trump asked to invest in the Bills

April fools? -
I'm undecided on Manziel, but it's been pointed out, that he takes off running even when he has a clean pocket to throw from. One could argue that's because he doesn't read defenses well.

It had to be done.

Riiiiiight, some hand-shake, back-door deal that's not actually written into the agreement the league uses to run itself. Makes sense now.

Sounds like it's going to be a really good time. Wish I could be there. Hopefully someone will take photos. Have a good time, for those who are going. -
Right so here's the CBA: http://nfllabor.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/collective-bargaining-agreement-2011-2020.pdf The owners agreed to 10 more years of revenue sharing, I don't see anything in there about the Buffalo Bills not being allowed to revenue share in the case Ralph Wilson dies. I don't see any mention of Ralph or the Bills. I don't see anything about new owners not being able to revenue share either. I'm not sure what Paul Hamilton was talking about.
-
This is rather confusing. Revenue sharing is part of the CBA, I'd be interested where in the CBA it says if Ralph dies the Bills don't get to share revenue, when every other team does.

DeSean Jackson released

More like goodbye TJ Graham. It's been hashed out before but Stevie's cap hit would make it idiotic to sign a WR and cut him. Too much money. -
The end of yoga pants in school ?
Wayne Cubed replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I remember a class I took in collegel about ethics/media and we discussed clothing in schools. Here's an interesting little tidbit that I learned. No public school has ever won a case when taken to court about what their child is wearing in school. If it's a public school, it's a violation of the students first amendment rights to enforce a dress code and I believe there is precedent, if I remember correctly. Saying all that, I think parents need to pay more attention to what their children wear. -

Chris Brown @ChrisBrownBills 36m Bills interested in D-Jax? http://wp.me/plmrg-9SF Tim Graham @ByTimGraham 1h Source tells me any Bills interest in DeSean Jackson would be for a predetermined price. Bills won't get into a bidding war. -
It sure does, hence why I was saying I would think the NFL would prefer a team if it's going to move, to move to LA the 2nd largest market in North America, even if it's the Bills. I'm also sure the US TV stations would prefer it too, more viewers, more money etc.
-
I'm aware that the NFL has deals elsewhere. Hell they have their own outside the US in GamePass. My point with regards to the deals they have in the US is they are much much greater than those anywhere else. DirecTV extended it's deal for $4 billion. NBC, CBS and Fox just extended theirs for $27 billion. The biggest contracts and eyes are here in the US. EDIT: Also the Canadian regulations make it impossible for the NFL to make exclusive deals with any of the providers. And my point is the NFL, IMO, would probably rather be in the 2nd largest TV market in North America in Los Angeles as they already have huge deals with TV stations. I'm sure those TV stations would prefer them in LA as well.
-
It's been touched on before, but Toronto's TV market is not a US market. So the eyeballs watching there would mean very little to any sort of current TV deals the NFL has. Toronto fans living in Canada, wouldn't be watching on CBS, Fox or NBC... they also wouldn't be able to purchase the Sunday Ticket from DirectTV. So that means the only people watching games in Toronto, that would possibly count towards TV revenue, are probably already watching the Bills from the US. Unless you think more fans would tune in to watch a team because it's in Toronto. Surely, the NFL would have to work out some sort of deal with a Canadian television station. But, the logistics of that might be tricky. EDIT: So while you may think Toronto is a slam dunk, LA makes much more sense because it's not a move into a different country or non US TV market. It's simple and puts them in the 2nd largest US TV market.

If you look back a couple pages Bandit (hope you don't mind) posted a link detailing exactly what a the owner must look at and what the league will look, before a team is allowed to move: Owner must take into consideration prior to applying: "the League’s television interests, the League’s interest in strong and geographically distributed franchises, the League’s interest in securing attractive stadium facilities in which to play its games, and the League’s interest in having financially viable franchises" the NFL will look at (this is number 2 on the list): "The extent to which fan loyalty to and support for the club has been demonstrated during the team's tenure in the current community" So, it's pretty much there in black and white. The league will certainly look at fan loyalty, whether that means selling out games or not could be debated. http://www.leg.state.mn.us/webcontent/lrl/issues/FootballStadium/NFLFranchiseRelocationRules.pdf

Interesting. But it does state in a previous paragraph under the "Prior to League Consideration": My point was to more of a new owner seeing the viability of keeping the team in Buffalo. The topic you are referring to is when it comes to the league making a decision. Which, I tend to believe, the league wouldn't get the 24 votes needed. And like I said I still think people need to go and sell the games out.

Report: lease buyout does not exist
Wayne Cubed replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think, and sorry if I'm wrong GG, he means nothing can stop a owner from just moving the team. Sure they wouldn't be part of the NFL, but the owner does, for lack of a better word, own the team. The NFL couldn't stop them. -
This is where I'm at as well. While the support on an emotional level is there for sell out's of the Ralph, it wouldn't be there financially, which is what a buyer may be looking at and why to move. And as I mentioned before, support comes in all levels. Bills fan were supportive enough to make Buffalo games the 11th largest TV viewing last year in the NFL. Top 1/3 of the league in TV market, where the NFL makes it's money. Thats big, for a small market team that isn't winning a whole lot of games. I'm not saying fan's shouldn't go to games and the Bills shouldn't try to sell out, because every little bit helps, but I'm of the opinion keeping them tops in the league in terms of TV market is more important.
