  1. Eh, EJ's performance wasn't consistent... even without the bad blocking schemes. But that's pretty normal for a young QB. In the videos you can see he has trouble with touch passes, compared to when he just flings it in there. I feel like that's something he can improve on with time.
  2. Those highlight packages really drive home just how bad our blocking schemes were, Jesus.
  3. 3 Playoff teams ahead of us though... hopefully we can join them.
  4. Why can't one acknowledge that both Moulds and Stevie were stellar receivers for us? It's amazing how black/white things get around here.
  5. Exactly how I feel, especially the last part. EJ has always impressed me more when he's playing "fast", 2 minute drills, 4th quarter/OT, etc... he seems to play more aggressive, moves around a bit, and is more natural. I'm not an expert, but I always got the impression for a good part of the game he was overthinking what his coaches were drilling in to him, but when forced to "just play" he did well.
  6. I feel like I missed some big news today... did Hughes indicate he's not re-signing?
  7. To each their own on opinion. IMO EJ had a stunted rookie year, due to injuries and coaching problems. I agree he had a couple bad games in his second year, but also had a couple good games as well. Kyle started off much better, but then as the season went on started to have similar struggles. In the end, both QBs performed similarly in the Marrone/Hackett systems (note: similar, not the same, KO did out play EJ, not arguing that). I understand why they went with KO, they were doing everything they could to get to the playoffs. I still think EJ hasn't had enough time to fully show us what he's capable of. I think what he does this off season/pre season, and regular season will give us a much more reasonable idea. Which is why I support him being in the competition for the starting spot. And yes, I'll give him the advantage due to familiarity with the team, youth, and raw talent. He's shown enough bright spots, has a fair record considering circumstances, and the fact that he has a positive TD/INT ratio, a good head on his shoulders, and physical talent gives him another shot in my eyes. By no means do I guarantee his success. But I also don't see any of the available QBs out there to be far better than him. If you're going to go into a season with a mediocre/bad QB, you might as well play the one who has the most upside.
  8. If he was 14 games into his career, and there were no sure free agent improvements, I'd certainly be invested in seeing if he can develop or not. That was my point earlier, but it got shot down *shrugs* Fact is, everyone available to us in FA is about the same level as EJ. Locker is the closest in terms of youth/possible upside. So everyone clamoring for EJ to be cut, or stomping their feet that he sucks, is just gonna have to deal with it, so to speak. The most logical solution is to bring in a couple guys, have them fight it out in camp, and if it's at all close, you develop the young guy with the most upside. If he develops over the course of the year, awesome. If he doesn't, then you go back to the drawing board the next offseason.
  9. Apparently you either have to have a hall of fame QB, or no QB. There's no room for QBs of lesser talent on this team. Might as well cut EJ and Tuel, and hope we can find a way to land Rodgers.
  10. And theoretically we have an easier schedule this year, plus better coaching. EJ could stink it up, and we could still back into the playoffs... not like that that is a desirable performance from our QB...
  11. I'm hopeful, considering how Smith turned it around, and Kaepernick had his own success under Roman's system(s). It'll certainly tell us if last year's problems were with coaching or not, I'd think.
  12. Playing at that level is certainly better than playing at the level of many other QBs in the league. I'd rather have Orton/Fitz while we search for Brady, than have Geno. It's not an all or nothing thing, imo.
  13. It was an example of extreme possibilities with very slim chances of happening.
  14. Long term starters are rare in general, so I gave him the 20-40% range, but really it's closer to 20, than 40, for me. As far as leading us to the playoffs? If he can play about average ball, and we run successfully, and continue to have a dominating defense, then it's a decent shot. I gave it a 50% shot there, just because... things happen in the NFL regular season, and we are only strong on one side of the ball as of right now. It's also funny that I get labeled as an "EJ Lover" with those two votes.
  15. He could be Ryan Leaf, or Peyton Manning too... it's too early to tell this early in the game, imo. Sure, slim possibility that he's either of the two I mentioned, and more likely he's along the lines of what you mentioned... but frankly a middle of the road QB is pretty common. We certainly aren't getting a top 10 QB this offseason, but we do have a guy that could possibly (again slim chances) develop into one.
  16. Can he? Sure. He definitely has the potential. Can he/the coaches pull it out of him? Time will tell.
  17. I like him, I'd welcome him back, but not for the money he likely wants. I'd like to see him on a team with a good QB though, I bet it'd be a good match.
  18. If we pick up a vet QB, another OG, a relatively athletic TE, and a solid RB early in FA... we'll be heading into the draft with almost no glaring holes, and can literally draft best player available the whole way, to maximize our talent. That's pretty awesome.
  19. Leroi may have gotten info on the previous thing, but this stuff he was posting as opinion, so I'm not going to throw him in the fire for that. Just because he had info on a couple things, doesn't mean he has info on everything, and also doesn't mean he can't have his own independent opinions.
  20. Like what I'm reading in general. I think the Bills are heading in the right direction and making good decisions in general. QB is tough, since no sure things are available for us. Which, again, is why I support developing the youngest of the mediocre pile. Everything else looks good
  21. I'm fine with bringing whomever in, as long as it's a competition and we don't give up on developing EJ.
  22. No, it's "IMO", see for yourself, copy and paste his text into a google search, or into a word document, or whatever, that's what I did.
  23. I already deleted my vote. I shall stop posting, per your request.
