  1. Right now we have three DL, and two LB. We need some front seven guys, and he's a decent one.
  2. I think he'll get paid big bucks elsewhere, and likely not perform as well but still be solid, depending on what type of line he's playing on. He's damned good, but he also benefited heavily from playing with three pro-bowlers, two of which were often double teamed. If he gets double teamed on a regular basis, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the open market again in a couple seasons. Again, this isn't me saying he sucks, but I don't think he's as good as the paycheck he's about to get... and I bet that's why the Bills offered him what they did.
  3. Damn.... hopefully we can pick up someone who can be at least 75% as productive.
  4. "Coverage" sacks is kind of what makes Hughes great, sure he gets some immediate pressure, but the fact that he never gives up on a play is pretty big. It keeps the QB under pressure throughout the play, giving us a large advantage. If his first move doesn't work, he'll continue churning until he gets there, and that's awesome. Can you imagine what consistently sustained drives would do for our defensive averages?
  5. I think we'll could be back to Pettine levels of inconsistency, but still be solid overall... I liked Schwartz's scheme better than I have ever liked Rex's. That being said, maybe we'll grab a couple solid guys, and have a good draft, to mitigate losses. Not worried too much yet.
  6. I'd love to keep him, but my opinion has shifted to him probably walking for more money than we offer, sadly. Hopefully we can pick up someone with a similarly high motor, Jerry never quits on a play, and that's what makes him special.
  7. Has Sportrac been updated?
  8. You don't want him to develop into a competent starter? Why?
  9. 27 is too old to be a running back in the NFL.
  10. That's a lot of value, imo. Let's say EJ develops into a solid starter, and Goodwin or Gragg gets some actual use under Roman, it'll look even better.
  11. Before and right after the trade, I wasn't a fan of the concept of trading Kiko. After listening to some arguments, I understand the trade. I think that's where a lot of people sit. Not sure why that's so wrong.
  12. Not only that, but we'd be tying up $11m at least to the QB position with mediocre returns, most likely.
  13. He's one of the best in his prime, but unfortunately I don't think he's worth much at this point in his career.
  14. I'm enjoying this discussion a lot more than previous QB threads, it's actually somewhat respectful, people are basically just putting their opinions down, and that's it. Good job folks.
  15. Murphy's interview with Thurman is the first mention of the trade on the Bills website... but at least it's something
  16. Take your heart meds, folks.
  17. Man, this thread got my hopes up
  18. It's possible there was other suitors, and the Bills offered the most?
  19. Was wondering the same!
  20. The fact is, we went 9-7 with arguably crappy coaching and mediocre QB play... if you can't see that Whaley has improved this roster over previous years, then I don't know what to say.
  21. Figure this could be a fun poll/general discussion. Do we bring in any FAs? Do we draft another QB? Do we go into the season with Cassel/EJ/Tuel? My personal prediction: Drafting another QB late in the draft... we got the vet QB we were aiming for. During camp, Tuel gets cut. Cassel and EJ are neck and neck for the starting spot, with EJ winning by an edge due to mobility advantages, and the desire to develop a QB for the long run.
  22. That's not all in... giving Green Bay our next 10 1st round picks would be going all in.
