Good one. It's not just against the Bears, he's been awful in TC. He gets pushed around a lot for a guy his size due to poor technique and footwork. He seems a few seconds late to react most of the time. I think he got away with being bigger and stronger than most of the guys he faced in college and in the NFL he can't get away with that anymore. He may develop into a fine player, but it ain't gonna be in the next few weeks. Bring in a vet for a year or two and coach him up because right now I fear for Fitz's safety.

Should be an interesting 1st quarter in Denver
Green Lightning replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup, this is the elephant in the room. As much as I was impressed with our front 7 - subbing for just two starters and we got slapped around again. I'd like to think it wasn't physical, but some over pursuit mistakes, but we'll see, I'm sure Denver saw the tape as well. -
No. They scored their TD against all but two of our starting D and ran it down our throats.

Nix: Offensive line depth Bills’ main concern
Green Lightning replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right, didn't we just do that at ILB? Barnett is a two year - at most - signing. Why is the OL so different? We can find a guy who's better than who we have to school the project OL we have and to keep Fitz from getting killed. Jesus, just do it. -
Too bad he can't block.

Nix: Offensive line depth Bills’ main concern

I think the best we can hope for is: Starters: D.Bell Levitre Wood Rinehart New Guy Back ups: Pears Hairston Howard Wang Wrotto Urbik Hangman Vet signing -
[closed]Rinehardt moved to first team right guard
Green Lightning replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Read the other thread. This is wrong info. Levitre was demoted to second team LG and Urbik is still first team RG, whatever sense that makes. -
Levitre demoted / Levitre promoted
Green Lightning replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Urbik is a turnstile and Levitre gets demoted? Brother. -
Carrington wlll push Edwards out as a starter by season's end as will Batten take Kelsay's spot.

Chicago looking for a new blocking/tackling dummy
Green Lightning replied to BUFFALOKIE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Loved this quote: "Maybin has zero sacks in his career, but if he does end up with the Bears, he wouldn’t be the biggest draft bust of a pass rusher on the team. That honor goes to Vernon Gholston, who was drafted sixth overall by the Jets in 2008 and also has zero career sacks." This could make for either a great Las Vegas bet or an even better reality show....who gets their first NFL sack - Gholston or Maybin? Could be a multiple season show or better yet, have a "shoot out" at the Superbowl halftime. Pick an OL and let them each rush until one connects. -
Expect Dareus to have a big game on Saturday
Green Lightning replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vonn Miller reminded me of Maybin and I lived in fear we'd take him. I could be very wrong about him but I'm stoked having Dareus on our line. If Merriman holds up we just got the best of both worlds. -
Agreed, and truthfully from what I've seen at TC and in Chicago, our biggest worry is Urbik. He is simply not up to the task. Great size and zero leverage and balance. I don't think he's into it mentally. I think he got away with just being a bull in college. Can't do that in the NFL. Hangman is small but smart and has technique. Until we find someone better, you almost have to put him at RG. The run game will suffer, but with Urbik, the run and pass will suffer, but not as much as Fitzy will.

The Jets will sign Stinchcomb and cut Ducasse. We'll pick him up and have yet another former high draft pick on the OL who can't block. He'll be a project to provide depth for our other projects. Damn, I'm grumpy today.

Rule number one: Well, sometimes you just got to do it, especially with trolls. Rule number two: Damn straight!

Why did Brown play more than Thigpen?
Green Lightning replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thigpen had only a few days to prep. Probably ran out of plays that he knew! Thig's a lock at #2 and Brown's on the bubble. He sure didn't help himself any in Chicago. -

You know Dr., I've done the same pairings that you have here and came away with a wary pre-giddyness. The ressurection of Merriman and the seeming coming to age of Carrington could be a nightmare for opposing teams. But some of that hope dimmed a bit after Chicago ran the ball down our throats for their TD. Most of our A team was in and I'm hoping it wasn't the true measure of where we are. Really looking forward to the Denver game to see this front 7 in action. I'm doing my best not to get my hopes up, but you know how that goes...... -
Updated cap space for all 32 teams
Green Lightning replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not a great time to be a dol-phan. Miami's only $4-mil under the cap and they still suck. Bills-wise, I'd like to see Buddy spend some of our $26-mil in cap space on the right side of the OL. -

Fair and balanced. Nice not to be dismissed automatically like the idiot Colin Cowherd. It's not like we don't have our share of skepticism coming from national media becuase, hey, we deserve it. But at least take an honest look before you fall into regurgitating past columns, etc. Chadiha did his job.

+1 Is this the new sidekick to NGU?

Feelers? There are no feelers on TSW! Relax, just the give n' take here on TSW. Regardless or irregardless of correctness, we're here to have fun and mix it up about our team. Welcome to the board Chappy. Maybe they were too busy staring at your avatar to detect sarcasm!

The official Get 'R Done Thread (OL)
Green Lightning replied to Billsnutt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bring in Waters to protect Fitz's life. Let Urbik learn from an all-pro. How hard is that to grasp. At the very least we get quality depth. We signed an ILB to train our young guys for a few years, what's the dif? -
Well....um....upon review it may well be a word....like...um...staycation is a word...so don't tase me man....oh, and my last little piece of advice...um..to you... is why use a big word when a diminutive one will do?
-
Thread wise, this is about the most realistic post. Levi was brutal Saturday. The OL didn't make him make the poor choice on the pick and the two minute drill could well be one of the worst recorded. It's early, but he has a huge uphill battle to make this team.
-
Sorry, but that's not the right answer. When you are tens of millions under the cap, just did a salary dump to get further under the cap, you don't expose your QB to harm for sake of some veteran depth. Urbik has had a brutal camp. Maybe he's a prospect but he couldn't see the field on a bad Pittsburgh OL and I don't want to lose our QB to guy who's on-the-job training begins with not getting pushed around and turned around every other play. They tried to get Clabo, good. Just because it was a swing and a miss doesn't mean you stop there. One injury on this line and it's a lost year of little progress for the sake of some quality depth. You can still build through the draft, but filling in some key positions is just smart management (Like replacing Poz) so I got to believe we are not going into this season with Urbik starting at RG and Wang/Wrotto our next two choices at OT.
