  1. That is why they play the game... to win...
  2. Look, he cheated on his wife... in politics it often spells an end to a career generally. For an organization such that preaches integrity character etc, it is bad optics so close to them... not sure if there is more to the story, but he left a lot of bad feelings around the Bills and Sabres doing his job... my feeling was it was just a nail in the coffin. Sometimes guys like that are good hustlers and marketers and companies hire them as long as they stay below the radar. Russ was exposed so now he is poison locally... probably needs to lay low for a while if he wants to stick around... nature of the beast.
  3. then it was worded awkwardly or inaccurately because meatball is still here and so is Lorax.... again ???? ah got it draft picks... awkward sentence not interceptions
  4. picks or sacks and wth has a d line have to do with picks?
  5. None for me either... bleech can stand the stench..,
  6. I am not sure, though he seems smart and likely he could (qualified).. My question is what is best for Allen and his development. Some guys do better getting in there and learning on the fly. Some do well doing a hybrid of both. Doing, sitting, doing again etc... and some by sitting and watching. Myself... I’m a bit of a hybrid... but I am not playing in the NFL. And there is little patience for the hybrid model during a relatively short NFL season with no real developmental team like hockey, baseball and more recently basketball... It is an interesting conundrum.
  7. Understood why he reacted. If you understood both scientific method and science you would understood their is no such thing as fact only high probabilities until proven wrong or adjusted or correlations with sample sizes as limiting factors that also don’t account for outliers. I like the analysis and think it has value... but I think it has limits as well and again it depends on an individuals ability to implement and use as a tool. It may be useful or it may not be worth the time based on that indidual.
  8. So basically we haven’t a clue or maybe better termed we have an inkling but could be wrong or given the right circumstances and good coaching or system Allen could be great or not be able to take the next step. Guess all we have is hope and we will see. Obviously the guy has talent and despite the physical skills that EJ had he had trouble reading a defense. Allen seems to know when he screws up and is able to learn from it. That gives me hope. Yeh there will be a learning curve. Still haven’t and I don’t think anyone here knows if Allen is better learning on the field or watching. Guys are different in which they are better at. Preseason games will tell a lot imo.
  9. We had a football coach who was a science teacher vietnam vet in late 70s, early 80s who would lose it every once in a while... soft spoken until he would, felt for the guy but everyone backed off when he did...
  10. Did you go to Amherst High School with Mr. Tripp?
  11. Maybe not as close as I remember but not far... PS Appleton WI is home of the John Birch society... very right wing and Madison was home to the Communist movement for a long time..., talk about extremes
  12. Hey I have plantar fasciitis... crap but not the head aches... sure could use the cash though :)
  13. If I remember correctly big casino across the street with parking lot that offers RV parking. You could call. Forget the name.
  14. Been there years ago... over 20... beautiful part of the lake... GB was kinda like a smaller version of Buffalo... but much closer to Milwaukee and Chi town.. great food and nice casinos.... where you will find your requisit... ladies.
  15. yeh but mental illness is not something to be screwed around with.., if he is still having symptoms. Hoping the best for Zay... if that means Football or just getting help... praying for Zay
  16. Sigh Randy Smith taking off from the foul line and that kid had wheels... of course anytime you broke ankles carrying the ball then threw a stiff arm it was OJ. Martin and his wrist shot. An interception was either Bob James or Tony Greene. We all practiced McAdoos behind the head fade away. Jack lambert though was the man on D. But we all tried to zip it like Fergusen. Guy had a cannon.
  17. My objection it is their fault... barring injury or just not good enough talent, scholarship can be rescinded. If they are going to do this then make all athletic scholarships 4 years guaranteed. Would also diversify the glut of the haves and have nots.
  18. RIP, lost 2 high school classmates this year due to cancer at age 53/54. Have lost a number of them over the last few years due to cancer and heart attacks... sigh getting to that age.. where your mortality becomes more significant. Again RIP.
  19. The time committment for being a division 1 athlete and a real scholar causes a situation that is rare that it can happen very successfully or without a lot of help. It definetly is a choice, but dont confuse a student athlete with a scholar. Not Diii coaches... My cousin Sam received D1 full boat offers from Duke and UNC for basketball, turned them both down along with four other freshman D1 basketball recruits. They went to Wesleyan in CT on academic scholarships. Started winning beating no 1 D3 team in nation and coach wanted them to practice. They threatened to quit because that wasnt what they were there for. If they wanted to practice they could have gone D1. Needless to say coach backed off. See the difference in power relationships.
  20. Marcus Allen also became that later in his career too.
  21. just click on the starred expense difference from USAToday... doesn’t say where all the money went despite the so called profit
