Buffalo Bills ''alternate facts''
dpberr replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We all know the only seniors *worth* scouting at the Senior Bowl are the ones wearing bright orange helmets." - Doug Marrone, Rex Ryan "We don't upgrade New Era Field because we know for a fact our fans appreciate a rich 1970s nostalgia." -Ownership "My job is to coordinate the media. With the exception of some well thought out, simple commands in short, declarative statements, there's no need for me to talk to them." - Scott Berchtold "The buck stops with me, absolutely. But, just to be sure, ask Terry. If he's not available, go find Doug and let me know what they say." - Kim Pegula -
I Sure Hope That Stupid Wall Gets Built
dpberr replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The drug cartels are a smarter, more potent, sophisticated enemy than ISIS. Real deal bad guys. IMO, they are America's public enemy #1. A wall is a step in the right direction. -
The drought is due to the long, slow processing of emotions over the things that went the wrong way for the Bills. We hold on to the Super Bowl losses. The Music City Miracle. We've made great progress. Marv, Bruce, Thurman, Jim and Andre remain strong in the team and city psyche despite messy exits. We've made amends with Scott Norwood, and to quite a large degree, the fan base supported Bruce DeHaven and Wade Phillips regardless of what team they were employed by after January 2000. I'd say RW is held in high esteem by the majority of the fan base. What must occur to end the drought is Rob Johnson and Doug Flutie to lead the charge together on opening day this year. They must do it together. Put both players on the banner.

How about pictures of random, obscure Bills players since the drought began - and we'd have to guess who they were.
-
No. Great, exceptional athlete. Mediocre football player. I'd prefer the Bills find WRs that are good to great football players. IMO, Goodwin is not a priority.

You'd think that Pittsburgh would have watched last year's AFC Championship game where the Broncos punished Brady all afternoon and held him to 18 points, mostly with what MAJ said - pressure all day from the interior and giving the WRs no breathing room. BB isn't a slave to a scheme and to win against him, neither can the opposing team. That's been his bread and butter all this time - he plays against a league of coaches that are slaves to "their" schemes, without deviation. He's the Gregg Popovich of the NFL.

Clinton-Second Term was a terrible President. Bush was a terrible President. Obama was a terrible President. I have hopes for Trump. I don't think he will run for another term, regardless of his poll ratings at the time.

What should the Bills plan be from here on?
dpberr replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills, from a strict financial POV, cannot afford the full rebuild as described. The 7-9/8-8 team is in the bottom 1/3 in revenue in the NFL as it is. Profit will be even lower. Further, I think the "NFL" (owners and the management) would have serious issues with a new owner directing a franchise to tank on purpose and jeopardizing revenue creation - considering you've got the Browns already doing it, three re-locations in 24 months, and another team in complete ownership disarray (Titans). -
Can We Just Take a Moment and Be Grateful For The Pegulas
dpberr replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pegulas didn't buy this team for you. Or me. Or anyone in Buffalo. It was a business decision. They purchased the team because they think they can make money. That's a-ok in my book. It wasn't a charity decision. While I understand the sentiment because Buffalo without the Bills is a painful thought, I think the ring kissing and their anointment as royalty is too much. Buffalo is deserving of an NFL franchise. Always has been. It doesn't need "mercy". Many fans have significant concerns/issues with what they see on the field, and they have just as much right to air those issues. We've all invested our own time and own money. That's what makes this board great and unique - We all can do that. -
Dennis Thurman Interviewing for Washington's DC Job
dpberr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're more optimistic than I am. I see lots of poor personnel choices there. Hiring coordinators before they are ready, running offenses and defenses that don't work and getting used to doing so. Ryan has failed in three cities and had an optimum situation in Buffalo and still failed. Thurman saw things decline in NY and Buffalo and was happy to keep collecting the paycheck and being a yes man. "Yes" men make poor chiefs because they are used to having someone else make the decisions and are uncomfortable with the responsibility. Those are traits I wouldn't want in a coordinator. I wouldn't want these guys to wait until an interview to tell me "it'll be different this time! Promise!" when their history and past results suggest otherwise. -
Dennis Thurman Interviewing for Washington's DC Job
dpberr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is up with these crap coordinators getting interviews? Why is Rob Ryan getting an interview? Thurman? How is Hackett an OC again? Why is Greg Olsen even in a discussion? It's amazing that teams spend countless hours and treasure finding the "right" head coach but when it comes to coordinators, they embrace mediocrity. If I'm Washington and my choice is between Ryan and Thurman, I pick Jeff, the 25 year old intern. I'll take my chances with Jeff. -
I watched the pilot episode of SIX last night on the History Channel. Walton Goggins (Shield, SoA) stars. It was above average with some room to grow. They get the military part right IMO, and the primary story is interesting. However, the family stories are cliche and feel stolen from an Army Wives episode.

Kelly Skipper Named Bills' RB Coach
dpberr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's yet another mediocre coach who under performs consistently. How do these guys continue to get jobs? They have some damn good agents. A quote from the Florida Times Union when the Jags hired him: "Oakland’s run game statistics were woeful last year. The Raiders were last in yards per game (77.5) and rushing touchdowns (four). In Skipper’s six years, the Raiders’ running game finished 21st, second, seventh, 28th, 12th and last. Oakland’s combined six-year run-game ranking was 16th in yards and 12th in yards per attempt." -
If your kids are constantly sick from colds, flu, etc., try a bleach bath once a week. They are effective at curbing bacteria that's on the skin, under the nails, etc. Lots of internet guidance on them. Most pediatricians, after your 358th visit to their office, will recommend trying one. Don't use fabric softener on your towels. Bleach your bath towels every other cycle, washcloths every cycle.

Childress & Olson Both Reported as Out for Bills' OC
dpberr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Olsen is terrible. He's pretty consistent at being terrible. Hire someone with a proven, successful track record or hire somebody with some promise. -
Rivers not interested in LA - nevermind he is
dpberr replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rivers isn't going to want to play in Buffalo. However, I wouldn't rule out Rivers replacing Palmer in Arizona. CP isn't a starter anymore - and the Cardinals window is open. -
If Bills dump Taylor, where does he end up?
dpberr replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Dolphins. Miami trades RT in the off season and pairs Taylor with Ajayi and that above average offensive line and the "better than the Bills have" WR corps. In a way, it's a bad year for Taylor because while there are a lot of openings, there are also a lot of quarterbacks when you tally up FA, draft and possible trades. -
I think there are a lot of QBs and a lot of spots which makes it a buyer's market. I think Arizona, Miami and Minnesota are dark horse openings.
-
The coaching choices have been inspired. I'm pleasantly surprised.

The original MacGyver or the lame new one? What would MacGyver and Walker be doing? Fighting or defusing a bomb in a 4th grade Home Economics classroom? It's like comparing K.I.T.T. vs. Airwolf.

Tim Graham article -T Pegs considers dysfunction an insult
dpberr replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We bought teams to keep them in the area and to flourish with them. I let the coaches and the players be out front and be the story." I'm ok with all of that. He owns the business. However, the dysfunctional comments he finds insulting comes from their poor job at communication with the press and fan base. They are getting ripped off by the people in the public relations department. You have owners shooting out press releases, the owners aren't even on the same page with each other, GMs and interim head coaches stumbling, no press secretary, - it has the appearance of chaos. If you want to stop being called a bunch of dysfunctional amateurs, stop selling the perception you are. It's simple. . -

Will Marrone Stiff Jags Like He Did Bills, 'Cuse??
dpberr replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, a proper media guy or gal would have had Marrone prepared for that obvious question.
