My Own QB Review: Sleeper Pick - Remi Issaly
BigBuff423 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No thank you....he throws off his back foot often, he lofts the ball far too often as well, he seems undersized and looks basically average against much lesser competition....I'm all for giving guys from smaller schools or D1-AA or D2 or even D3 schools a chance, but they need to look the part and often need to far exceed expectations in order to be considered. -
Stanford RB Bryce Love Staying In School
BigBuff423 replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think anyone agrees with me, but I just don't think Shady is back with Buffalo due to aforementioned age and contract. I think Beane and McD realize his current market value as a trade being higher than his cost to the team and find a trade partner for a mid-late round pick, I'll go 4th....to a team that needs a one year good to great RB to help round out the Offense for a contender....like, say the Colts. I could see Josh McDaniels thinking that a Rookie RB to be similar to the Demarco Murray / Derrick Henry duo with Shady....and Shady would be indoors, for Luck (presumably), in a winnable division despite the Titans, since Jags are going to be good but they also played a Luck-less team twice and got to 10-6....just a guess, but it would make sense to me. -
Bills sign safety Kelcie McCray

I hear Rooney, I think Bueller.....Cameron's impression of his father over the phone, classic. -
I'm late to the party, but I'm sure someone already pointed out that he also traded Watkins, which I was and am in favor of, so I count that as a good thing and positive move for the team. He traded FOR Gaines, their best CB outside of White and to say that's not a good thing, the secondary was a real strength in fact, probably the primary reason even made the playoffs, not to mention the games he played vs. didn't play, the Defense was completely different without him. He also traded Darby - which I'm NOT a fan of and still can't understand that trade no matter how much people try to convince me it was due to scheme - but we did get Jordan Matthews who with a competent QB and without the injury at the end of the season, would have been a solid contributor PLUS another Draft pick, again something this team truly needs to add quality and depth. And you dismiss the Benjamin trade because hindsight is so clear, but remember the Bills were 5-2 at the time and really believed a big (see, "easy") target for Tyrod would help him make some throws he apparently refuses to make unless either King Kong is on the outside or the receiver is so wide open, they could knit a sweater, for a 3rd rounder....so a young, big WR formerly taken in the 1st round just a few years ago, with a ONE year reasonable contract left for a 3rd round pick that could have made a real difference in the passing game had it not been for injury is not considered a good move? Sorry, but hindsight strikes again....at the time it was a legitimate trade to show the Bills were willing to invest in this year without leveraging next year as well since the contract is team friendly for next year and you know, Tyrod.... He also traded Dareus, again, to me a good move since sometimes you get addition by subtraction and it is now apparent the Bills, ala McD and Beane, do NOT want players who aren't committed to the cause and will play like a man on fire....again, count me in on this thinking. Beane and his team have a talllllllll order for the 2018 Off-season and a great deal to prove he and his FO staff are making the right moves at the right times, but to say he hasn't done anything, IMHO, is not only a stretch, it's untrue.

The top statement was directed toward me after you quoted me, even though my point was in reference to Jax....that's all. I wanted to clarify. -

Sir, I quoted Jax and then referenced his last statement. You misunderstood my post which I quoted Jax in my post...? Apologize for the misunderstanding. -
What's the price to move up and get our guy?
BigBuff423 replied to ProcessTheTrust's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Based on Daboll hiring, I am even more cemented in my opinion to stand pat and Draft Rudolph. I think Daboll’s Offense would be a great fit. I would like to keep all picks AND use the Cap money - after trading / cutting Tyrod, Richie, Hughes, Mills, and yes....Shady. FA money will be needed for OLB, DE, DT, a couple WRs another TE in mold of O’Leary once Logan Thomas is allowed to go, and another CB or two. Sneaky cut: Wood With Daboll, Glenn might very well remain with team given his natural ability toward a power run game and improved pass blocking. -

I’m not sure if that last statement was meant toward my reply, but if so - it wasn’t intended to psychoanalyze the OP, but instead pay homage to how profound our connection to football runs...and how football becomes a network of various forms of relationships, and to essentially offer a sympathetic ear. If that’s too much for you, that’s on you - and if it wasn’t directed toward my reply - then you need not to have even read this far. Cheers to 2018 and whole new Offense!! -

That really is awesome.....it's true heart break year after year....and I understand the utter despair as a fan you must feel to pour your heart and soul into something that extends beyond the football field, beyond a tailgating lot, and into the homes and lives of the people we come to call friends through this medium of football....I am empathetic as I've been on the brink of throwing up my hands and walking away....it's hard to explain this draw, this magnetic determination to keep circling back to the flame of football, but it's there...and despite the anguish it's brought us as fans, we pine for it's return the moment the season ends, like an evil lover whose damage is deep but whose desire runs deep....hopefully, this means you'll come back around and stay again....but I (and I'm sure others) understand if this was just a momentary lapse in judgment while your logical self tells you to - RUN. -
Bradford will be the Available Viking QB
BigBuff423 replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m against Drafting Mayfield at all....unless it’s 6th round or later. No thanks... To clarify, he may turn into a great Pro, but since early round picks are mostly about mitigating risk and gaining reward, he’s not worth it based on typical NFL QB attributes and some maturity issues you don’t want from a QB. -
I applaud the Bills for going a little outside the box, and reaching to the college ranks for a Coordinator. And if you’re going to choose that path, a good place to start is a National Champion. Also, professional development is not excluded from the NFL; I would hope any professional at the highest level is capable of maturing their abilities, and grow through them. So while I have no idea if he’ll be any good, I’m willing to look at his most recent work and think there should at least be some optimism and give him a chance to prove himself without a belief of future failure just because he doesn’t “appear” to be the candidate I like best.

If the OC is Bevell I see 2 Things.....
BigBuff423 replied to JMF2006's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are some interesting stats out there about the Bills Offensive line and most of it probably isn’t what you’d expect. PFF graded out the Bills line about average but another analysis group, and I’m sorry I can’t recall who it was as I saw it on Twitter, took out the Tyrod effect - holding the ball too long, moving out of a clean pocket, etc. - and the “grade” on the line improved significantly, statistically speaking. Food for thought...I would still like a different Offensive Line Coach but thought it was interesting to hear objective entities have a more positive perspective on it than we do, as fans. -
QB Draft Stats: probability of finding That Guy
BigBuff423 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In general I like the premise of the post and always appreciate effort when a person takes the time to carefully create a thread with some good information and planning. What this information says to me - you’re about as equally likely to secure a great QB beyond the top 5 in all the rest of the Draft combined as you are in the top 5... In my mind that doesn’t mean you trade up, it means you must know within the existing pool beyond the top 5 there are hidden gems. I would take all of those QBs and compile a comprehensive list of all the traits those QBs share in common, narrow down your QB focus to those that possess those specific traits, and see where you land in terms of names and projected round. Count me still on the Rudolph train at 21, but as I’ve said, IF the Bills trade up, it has to be allllllll the way up to 1 or 2.... -

No, no....Bevell scouted Russ and maximized his value but he was also responsible for one of Favre’s best years as he ended his career in Minnesota. Nothing says he will keep Tyrod, and I HATE the false narrative that Tyrod and Russ have ANYTHING in common except their species. Russ is accurate, can read Defenses, has a cannon for an arm (Tyrod’s Isn’t bad) and anticipates guys open while calling audibles. Just because Russ can run and Tyrod can run does NOT mean Bevell wants a mobile QB over a quality QB, because that’s the defacto choice. Moreover, look at Beane’s comments about how they will select a QB - nothing in those comments indicate Beane will have an interest in keeping Tyrod - and when you couple that with his statements prior to last season, Taylor is toast as a Bill.....thank God! -
Bills' Free Agent Stay or Go List.

Im not cutting those guys or suggesting they should, trades are the way to go...and all those savings in salaries go toward younger players. -
Mike McCoy won't be the OC per Carucci
BigBuff423 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bevell or Chud please and thank you! -
Absolute conjecture nonsense....listen to Beane's interview....he will Draft the QB he believes has all the tools and intangibles necessary to be an NFL QB, regardless of scheme...and then says to OC and coaches, you need to highlight strengths and minimize weaknesses.... Additionally, Bevell scouted and pounded the table to Draft Russell Wilson, and helped coach Favre to one of his best years in the NFL in the twilight of his career....if the guy comes here, he brings a wealth of QB knowledge and an ability to spot raw talent and even more, DEVELOP him...nothing about that says Tyrod.

Bills' Free Agent Stay or Go List.
BigBuff423 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And when you take off the salaries of those guys who are most likely not on the team next year, your Cap space balloons to about $60 million. That's where I think the Bills would be if they found a way to trade or cut, Tyrod, Richie, Hughes and Glenn.... -
Ian Rapoport as well...

I know this question was posed to someone else, but I hope you don't mind if I reply... I like Rudolph, IMHO, he checks all the boxes....now to be transparent, I was initially on the fence with him up to November, then as time has gone on and I've watched more of him and taken a look at his stats over the last 3 years, I've become more impressed. FWIW, Mason Rudolph and Baker Mayfield are the ONLY two notable QBs that completely hit the list of Bill Parcells' requirements for a QB. Some believe in it, some don't....what I think Parcells valued was taking care of the ball, passing from the pocket, commanding the Offense and knowing how to audible, and being a good leader....some say Mason's arm isn't "good enough" and I just don't see it....he makes long passes with relative ease and zips the ball in tight windows...his completion percentage has climbed from 63% to 64% to 65%, while he piled up more than 1,200 yards of IMPROVEMENT from his Sophmore year when he started to his Senior year, he continued to add TDs by the bunches from year 1 to year 3 while his INTs remained steady (9,4,9) and he hits the 6'5" mark along with being a Senior and won the Johnny Unitas award.... To me, if the Bills go 1st round pick, and DON'T trade up into the top 5 for Darnold or Rosen (which IMHO I don't think they will and I don't think they should), Mason Rudolph is the guy. When you take Brandon Beane's comments into context from an interview earlier this week where he says they're going to pick their QB they believe is best, regardless of scheme or design by the Offensive Coordinator, AND that it is up to the OC and coaches to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses, Rudolph is the guy.
-
Also really insightful during his interview was he said, "We'll draft a guy with a skill set that we think fits, and it will be up to the Offensive Coordinator and the Offensive staff to accentuate whatever his strengths are and hide the weaknesses"..... So of course I LOVE the revelation that the Bills will be aggressive in finding their QB of the long-term future, but I also love that he put it out there that they're NOT going to base the Draft on what particular style or scheme a Coordinator runs and will simply take the QB that meets the criteria he and his staff set for the position, regardless of scheme or design. And THEN, expect the Coordinator and coaches to build on his strengths, minimize his weaknesses or deficiencies, and ADAPT! Hallelujah we have a winner! Now, please fire Rick Dennison and throw the money at Darrell Bevell, presuming he still wants to be an Offensive Coordinator. Take Ken Dorsey and a new Offensive line coach and get....the F.....to work!
